Agree with you on these points. 👍🏻
Lived there over thirty years, recently moved, but might move back some day.
Definitely need a car to zip around town, plenty of places to eat and shop.
I always felt safe and rarely if ever locked my car doors.
Taxes are high, but not as much as I pay now in Illinois.

My brother-in-law moved there from N.Y.C. when he married his Kansas wife. He is very happy there. We visited him; it was ok. It's just another suburban place. As far as raising kids there, okay but I could never take my kids away from Central Park, The Met, Broadway, diversity, and amazing restaurants.

Oh, for sure! It’s not for everyone. Personally, I live in the city for many of the reasons you listed.

I am also originally from NYC. I have moved to the Kansas City area in 1998 and have been here since. I've lived in overland Park since 2007 and I like it here.

Actually Johnson County has a larger economy than Jackson County now. Also Johnson County has a lower percentage of detached single family housing and more jobs than Jackson county.

More density than KCMO, lower percentage of single family housing than KCMO and higher job density than KCMO. But still a suburb lol
