  • The inspiration for the song Michael came to me on a summer's evening in 1995. As I was playing in Marcoom later that night, I decided to visit Beal Na Blath. While walking along the road I tried to visualize that tragic evening in August 1922, when Collins met his death in this place during the early days of the Civil War. A memory came back to me of another wet August evening many years before, when I was in the Ramblers. We were traveling through the Comeraghs Mountains on our way to some session or other when we stopped to admire the scenery. While standing on the roadside in the gloom of the evening looking out over the mountains, I heard the call of a curfew as he flew through the dark valley below. A terrible melancholy came over me, and I remember thinking at the time that it was the loneliest sound I had ever heard. This memory came flooding back to me that evening in Beal Na Blath, and a song and poem started to formulate in my mind that seemed to come from the depths of my soul.
This is a recording of a performance Johnny did for TG4 on the evening of March 8th, 2012 in the Waterfront, Theatre, Belfast.
It was recorded in just one take in front of a live audience and transmitted at Christmas of that year.

I worked a lot of my life in the Middle East and an American guy I came across, we travelled together in a battered beat up Toyoto Corolla down towards Yemen and the Asir region, and his favourite cassette, it was early 90s, was Johnny McEvoy, to my great surprise, that it wasn't the other great American stalwarths.
Johnny is indelibly Irish I know.
But I won't name them. Chuck had been a pilot in Akaska where he ran his own aviation courier company, listening to Mursheen Durkin and all of Johnny's greatest hits, flying over "granite clouds".
He had good taste in songs.

Our hero of the past Michael Collins is one of inspirations as the assault on truth is relentless and now our time is at hand.
Jesus coming 2k years ago redefined history and the assault of evil has been relentless ever since.
This era is the most dangerous because the assault is global and has huge Satanic fury behind it👊
The only way to defeat this evil is through faith in Jesus and bring strong in faith to invoke the power of God who has won this war🙏

@@shaunboyle1551 Jesus is the living God🙏
The Way, the Truth and the Life🙏
When Jesus came on earth history was redefined and all of history relates to the coming on earth of the Saviour🙏
So bow down and adore the King of Eternal Glory and the Saviour of all mankind🙏
You are a child of the living God utterly dependent on God in every moment of your existence🙏 Death and judgement await each one of us and only God knows the time so it’s time to conquer your pride and your delusion that you are independent of God🙏
The purpose of your life on earth is to do the Will of God not waste your precious life denying God👊
      Only mindless fools do that😭

Collins ( THE BIG FELLOW) was a real saviour. There no proof Jesus existed if there is a god. Why is so many wars fought in his name. Just a thought.

    • @paddyearly
      @paddyearly ปีที่แล้ว

@@malachymccloskey7839 Collins was not a saviour! And he believed in Jesus🙏
Jesus is the only reality we can deal with, the only God who became man to save our souls🙏
The world is in a total mess because people have bought into the lies of Satan and his minions the globalists who are behind every war for their profit👊
It’s time to repent of our sins and ask Jesus to rescue us from our stupidity and pride🙏

Collins wasn’t the worst. Looking back. There should never have been a civil war. Deputies been forced to take an oath by the British. Yes a tactic, but split the movement. Once you make a decision you stick by it I guess. RIP Michael Collins and Liam Lynch. Onwards to the republic!

Ireland's real Jesus. The only person to bring the mighty evil British empire to her knees. Drove them to the table. Then THE BIG FELLOW was crucified and executed by the LONG HURE. RIP to a real son off Ireland.🇮🇪 he would not have giving us to the Catholic church after. Driving the British out. In the words of P.H PEARSE. million of unborn children will soon live in that house he helped shape in his mind. A fully free independent Ireland. For all her children
