Check out the website here: powerquery.how/. Also, if you're interested in learning the M language, we released the Definitive Guide to Power Query M. You can find it here: geni.us/ODZl8. Enjoy!
I always find Microsoft pages messy, unclear, and lacking in logic. I’m glad you’ve built this website on a topic that requires clear and in-depth explanations along with practical examples. Thank you!
Last one month i am searching for good website and TH-cam videos for M language. But i didnt get. Today i checked in linkedin . I found your website and i get confident to learn and it was very clear and very easy to understand. Thanks a lot.
Too much gratitude for your exceptional, brilliant work! I've never found any other website (free or paid) that much organized and useful about M language. No words to thank you enough!
True Fact: If I have a Power Query question now say, "I need to powerquery.how this." instead of "I need to google this." because all my answers and more are in powerquery.how! Thank you for all you do for us!
I already had this site among my numerous bookmarks, knowing the author, I knew I would find answers to my questions. However, I must admit I had not fully appreciated the quality of the content and its presentation. This video highlights many aspects I had not considered about its proper use. A big thank you to the author.
Probably the best M language reference I have come across. And I won't even compare this with d official documentation. I have just been using this for a couple of weeks, I have bookmarked this and removed d official documentation from my bookmarks 😂. In any case, I am looking forward to contributing to this resource. Cheers!!
Thank you for all the hard work you do to share your knowledge with us, Rick. I am excited to check out the site - it definitely looks like a great resource to help us master Power Query.
Wow, thanks - that’s very kind. Truth is, Microsoft has only so many resources. And their website is used for so many languages. Starting fresh, like me, brings flexibility 😁
We are grateful, Rick. A quick one. Have you been able to create videos showcasing the PowerQueryHow resources? It can sometimes be difficult to read written information and follow instructions. For many of your audiences, it might appear more convenient to have step-by-step videos instead. Please advise.
Hi. This video goes through what the website looks like and the features it has. I do reference to pqhow when relevant in a video. Yet covering all M functions on video would take ages. There's more than 1000 functions. I'm trying to cover the most important ones though :)
Hummm Want to start with the M language but humm! It seems strong ! I know that the purpose of this video is to give the way to learn M language but for a beginner, what do you recommend? Thanks
Hi, Many thanks for your valuable content 1. How to extract time column from date_time column without breaking the query folding? 2. How to change data type from number to integer to optimize the data model without breaking the query folding? Thanks in advance.
Custom functions for the M language? I'm working on a collection of them, but it's currently not available yet. Other than that, you may find some Github pages out there from different individuals.
You’re right, I removed it recently. After some asking around, and my own thoughts, I figured that part wasn’t as useful as I hoped. It took up real estate, and for some functions with long descriptions, I felt it made things feel cramped. So I decided to remove it. It’s still in the video though. Well spotted.
@@BIGorilla Thanks for answering. I thought this is a cool idea as I struggle with the data types. But I will for sure find other useful information on your website.
Your explanation of splitter by nothing is so much clearer than MS Docs. Also your site is relatively easy to navigate compared to some others ( c . w 🙄🙄).

Hi Rick.
few days ago your book arrived!
Now im waiting for your PDF from the link.
but wow superb work with that book.
I always find Microsoft pages messy, unclear, and lacking in logic. I’m glad you’ve built this website on a topic that requires clear and in-depth explanations along with practical examples. Thank you!
You're very welcome! I agree. It’s still a work in progress, but helpful nonetheless. Enjoy!
This website is perfect. The layout is easy to navigate. Great resource for all PQ users. Thanks for your hard work, Rick!
i bought the printed book to support your work. nice work rick.

Always happy to read your response raimundo. If you ever want to contribute, you know where to find me 😁
Best PQ assistant ever. Keep it up Rick. Fan of your job and videos

That is awesome!!
Your website is a masterpiece.
Structured very well, clear, and pleasant to read.
Just a nice tool when working with Power BI.
👏👏🙏
Many thanks!

I'm glad to hear that, thanks you Roberto. I hope it lives up to the expectations!
Your site is in my browser favourite at the expense of the Microsoft one for few weeks. Much clearer, understandable and also easy to navigate.
❤ appreciate that! Thanks for the compliment
Great work. It deserves an award or at least significantly more success on TH-cam traffic
Thank you so much for this work you have done, it's a tremendous benefit to the community
Happy to help!
This website is really nice: everything is put together so well.
Got it bookmarked for reference. :-)
Thanks for all the hard work, Rick!
Thanks for your support Geert!
Thank you very much for sharing your work through this site.
I use it very often.
You do? Excellent! I’m about to give it some more love coming time :)
This is awesome list.generate (thanks)
Glad you like it!
You spoke very mildly about Microsoft's site. Their sites very rarely provide answers. Great peace of work!

Please do! If it can help you in any way, my goal is achieved 😁
Looking forward a Power Query course from you mastering the M language! Thank you for this amazing resource
Me too Rodrigo. It may take a little while still as I haven’t started , but it’s on the roadmap. 😁
Thank you so much , you are spending effort and time to make information accessible
It's my pleasure; there’s so much to learn :)
Great Job! Props, man!!! ❤
🚀🚀!!
Thank you very much 😀
You're welcome 😊
Fantastic. I'm sure it will be a great reference. Microsoft website, I find can be very confusing.
Of course, this website is 100 times better than Microsoft Power Query pages which is messy, unclear, and lacking in logic
❤🙏
I love this website, without a doubt the reference website for M language.
Thanks for your efforts. The site will be one of the best references of M language.
Thank you for the trust. And don't forget, if you want you can also contribute to the site. I'm happy to add good examples :)
Really amazing. It is already in my list of favorites. Thanks a lot!!
Glad you like it!
Great Work
Thanks for your website, it is so useful and convnient, you are so great!
This is awesome. Excellent information. Thank you so much!
Glad to read your enthusiasm. Enjoy!
Thank you very much Rick, for your tytaneous work. I`m really think that what you`ve done should be at the Microsoft`s users hall of fame!

Awesome work ... thanks. Does your site explain or allow for contributors?
Yes. Contributors are welcomed. Each page has a ‘contribute’ button at the bottom. And you can also send something directly to rick@gorilla.bi. 👌
Very helpful. Thank you Rick 👍❤
Glad it was helpful, thanks Kebin!
My first preference on Power Query

1. How to extract time column from date_time column without breaking the query folding?
2. How to change data type from number to integer to optimize the data model without breaking the query folding?
Thanks in advance.
Amazing!!!!!!
Love the website. If you could include the a M-code formatter that will help tons. Thanks
Not sure what you mean. The M code is formatted. Can you elaborate
@@BIGorilla I meant adding a power query formatter
thank you
Great thanks
You are welcome Walid. Hopefully more people will find it useful :)
Is there a site that you know of that has custom functions?

Un sitio web obligatorio de consulta. Gracias por el sitio web.
Muchas gracias Raul ☺️
Thanks!
Welcome!
How can i change value in column in nested table based on condition?
😂
Why did you remove the input and output? For example, the List Functions Overview looks different.
You’re right, I removed it recently. After some asking around, and my own thoughts, I figured that part wasn’t as useful as I hoped.
It took up real estate, and for some functions with long descriptions, I felt it made things feel cramped.

Thanks so much :) That reminds me, I still have some other splitters left to document. May look into that soon!
❤🩹 great work !!! thank you !!!
No problem 😊
