won't matter, you can send someone to the supermarket for you and give them your card and pin. crippled people, for example. unless it's mandatory that the cardholder is present, that won't fly.

EBT cards should have a photo of the person and you should be required a form of identification as well. Our government is eager to just hand out our tax money to anyone.

I'm in Texas,]but Missouri and some other states are requiring drug testing for food stamp recipients. A ton of people are complaining. If you aren't buying dope with EBT cards, then what's the problem? I think more states should do this.
Because 1. it's ridiculously expensive compared to the number of people caught, and 2. taking away their food only punishes their kids, and kids of the drug addicted are usually suffering quite a bit already.

Wes Mix so true. I was diagnosed with lupus back in 2011. Worked off and on since 2016 due to several hospital stays, and currently unemployed under doctors care. Then my 17 year old was diagnosed with Crohn's disease and spent a month in the hospital last year. Then then my 12 year old was diagnosed with Crohn's as well. So many hospital stays for both of them, sometimes at the same time. Once on two different floors and the other in the same pod. I would send my mother or sister to the store with my ebt card because we wanted something other than hospital food and I didn't want to leave the boys at the hospital alone.
People work all their lives for social security retirement and social security disability and then have to pay taxes on those entitlements so welfare recipients can have a lifetime of freebies. No freebie recipient gets my sympathy for any reason.

My mother was a stay at home mom she raised my siblings and myself. She did many things that women today tip their nose at like washing clothes in the bath tub on a scrub board, using cloth diapers as disposable diapers didn't exist. She had a broom, a sewing machine, an ironing board and was proficient with all the tools at her disposal. I am nearing retirement as well, I work full time and get no help. I'm glad that someone is trying to regulate this. The whole system is so messed up. The people that truly need them can't get them. Several years ago, my son who was 4 at the time had a major health scare. He was on cardiac monitors, medicines, and had many hospital stays. I made very good money, but missing work, made it hard for me as I was paying 90% out of pocket. I applied for assistance, they didn't care about missing work or my expenses. I literally had a social services worker to tell me to quit my job and they would help with everything! Isn't that backwards? I was blessed with some good people and friends to help me through those times. System needs revamped!!
i'm working at a store that sells groceries. had a guy come in 2 days ago and buy almost $250 worth of candy and candy bars. these people with EBT cards are eating better than average middle class families. they are purchasing soda, bottled water, chips freshly made heat and eat meals (shrimp scampi, lasagna, etc), snacks (little debbies, hostess, etc), febreeze, and muffins. most are black or hispanic women with a man who pulls out a wad of cash from his pocket to pay any remaining balance. heard one woman tell another that the card wasn't even hers. sent an emal letter to my state reps asking who's responsible for this. mebbe i'll get some answers. who knows

Now, that I have been used and beat up, and I can collect such benefits, I would sure as hell not want to be stuck with powered milk and dry beans. Normally I would agree, but I know of a case where a person is mostly bedridden (she can sit up for short periods in a wheelchair) and a friend comes once a week to take out their trash and go grocery shopping for them. The handicapped person has an EBT card, and is it used as it was intended to be used. However, it is her friend who does that shopping that uses the card. The friend is using the card as a representative of the card holder, not for herself. All goods purchased with the card are for the handicapped person...
I agree with u on all of ur points but I’d like to add that these benefits should be limited to how long u can be on them as well. I also believe that they should be subjected to random UA’s as well. Easy work around for the picture. You go pick out what you want me to buy in the cart, I pay using the ebt card. You take the groceries. I get money from you. Not that hard to get around.

What makes it worse is that not only is money being abused but more money is being spent try to catch them and then prosecute them. What’s even worse than that, all of our tax dollars are paying for all of it. Not just all of that we’re paying for but our tax dollars are paying for the benefits that they get including the ones using it correctly. The tax payers are getting screwed all the way around. Most of the ones using it aren’t putting much back into the system so we’re on the hook for all of it. I honestly believe only about half of the benefits are truly legit at best. I’m all for helping out the elderly and the ones who are really handicapped. If we could weed out all the fakers, we could provide more to those in need(not want).

I've been on food stamps twice as an adult, in my early 20's, simply so I wouldn't starve. I was never more ashamed as I was when asking for that help. Do these people have any pride?
A few years ago, I was involved in an accident and I broke my back, Peelvis, neck, and both arms and both legs ( and more ) and I was put into a wheelchair and was pretty much facing a life of permanent disability. I did however get very lucky, in that I did NOT completely sever my spine and I am now able to walk ( after some extreme therapy ) and while I am not completely right, and I am very limited in how far I can walk, I am now full wanting to get back to work. I am finding it very difficulkt to get a job that I can bot hdo, and that is available. I live ina small town in the middle of the hills, so jobs are few and far between, but there is one thing that completely fucking drills my head in, and that is doley bastards who can work, but dont want to. When you have people like me, who would kill for a job, but have trouble finding one. I am very lucky in that I have been paid out a massive compensation payment and so I dont get any benefits or income from the government due to teh payment I got from the insurance, but still... I am fucking bored out of my skull nd would even volunteer, but due to my disability, no one seems to want to risk taking me on. Hows that for shitty.

I work at a gas station and I see so many EBT users buy junk like pop and gummy bears or even energy drinks. I had one lady ask another customer to buy her cigarettes and she would pay for his food. I was shocked and told the lady that you are not allowed to do that, then asked her to leave. I see people buy food on one transaction, then turn around and buy beer, cigarettes or even lottery. You have money for that, but not for food...?
Ted bundy , it's not that simple of a job for some people. Not just physical, mentally too. I have clinical depression and schyzophrenia. I also have an EBT card and am just starting to work again as a housekeeper. They tell me maybe i should go take it as a disability but i know sure as hell i would not want to go back to work. If i got another 1000 a month dollars from disability, i would probably be sitting at home when i should really just get a job. I thought it was impossible but ive finally been hired! If you just give yourself a push and take one day at a time, you can do it. Its better to get out of the house than just sit around all day; it helps and heals me. But to sit inside all day is never the right choice, you have to go and live your life and respect yourself. So i feel sorry for some of these people.
People have the real recipient buy the groceries and then out in the parking lot the buyer give half the value of what was bought in the store. Nothing you can do to stop that.

One possible problem for requiring picture ID, many people who need EBT Benefits are disabled and unable to do their own shopping. But that would be a fairly simple thing to fix.

I was temporarily getting assistance. My ex mil accused me of selling her my foodstamps while i was in jail for helping her son because she got ahold of my card. By then I didnt even have the energy to fight it.
I was watching Judge Judy on TV and she had two cases of people selling Food stamps and buying them!! The one buying the Food stamps had a business! I wrote down all the information the episodes the station and the date aired. And their name's! How do I turn these people in???

I'm glad that someone is trying to regulate this. The whole system is so messed up. The people that truly need them can't get them. Several years ago, my son who was 4 at the time had a major health scare. He was on cardiac monitors, medicines, and had many hospital stays. I made very good money, but missing work, made it hard for me as I was paying 90% out of pocket. I applied for assistance, they didn't care about missing work or my expenses. I literally had a social services worker to tell me to quit my job and they would help with everything! Isn't that backwards? I was blessed with some good people and friends to help me through those times. System needs revamped!!

i'm working at a store that sells groceries. had a guy come in 2 days ago and buy almost $250 worth of candy and candy bars. these people with EBT cards are eating better than average middle class families. they are purchasing soda, bottled water, chips freshly made heat and eat meals (shrimp scampi, lasagna, etc), snacks (little debbies, hostess, etc), febreeze, and muffins. most are black or hispanic women with a man who pulls out a wad of cash from his pocket to pay any remaining balance. heard one woman tell another that the card wasn't even hers.

I agree with you to a point. I have worked since the 70's, never signed up for EBT or any welfare benefits, I payed for others to get their benefits. Now, that I have been used and beat up, and I can collect such benefits, I would sure as hell not want to be stuck with powered milk and dry beans. Normally I would agree, but I know of a case where a person is mostly bedridden (she can sit up for short periods in a wheelchair) and a friend comes once a week to take out their trash and go grocery shopping for them. The handicapped person has an EBT card, and is it used as it was intended to be used. However, it is her friend who does that shopping that uses the card. The friend is using the card as a representative of the card holder, not for herself. All goods purchased with the card are for the handicapped person...
I agree with u on all of ur points but I’d like to add that these benefits should be limited to how long u can be on them as well. I also believe that they should be subjected to random UA’s as well. These benefits shouldn’t be free or without standards once they are in them. I’m against socialist programs anyways but that’s another topic.
Easy work around for the picture. You go pick out what you want me to buy in the cart, I pay using the ebt card. You take the groceries. I get money from you. Not that hard to get around.

What makes it worse is that not only is money being abused but more money is being spent try to catch them and then prosecute them. What’s even worse than that, all of our tax dollars are paying for all of it. Not just all of that we’re paying for but our tax dollars are paying for the benefits that they get including the ones using it correctly. The tax payers are getting screwed all the way around. Most of the ones using it aren’t putting much back into the system so we’re on the hook for all of it. I honestly believe only about half of the benefits are truly legit at best. I’m all for helping out the elderly and the ones who are really handicapped. If we could weed out all the fakers, we could provide more to those in need(not want).

A few years ago, I was involved in an accident and I broke my back, Peelvis, neck, and both arms and both legs ( and more ) and I was put into a wheelchair and was pretty much facing a life of permanent disability.
I did however get very lucky, in that I did NOT completely sever my spine and I am now able to walk ( after some extreme therapy ) and while I am not completely right, and I am very limited in how far I can walk, I am now full wanting to get back to work.
I am finding it very difficulkt to get a job that I can bot hdo, and that is available. I live ina small town in the middle of the hills, so jobs are few and far between, but there is one thing that completely fucking drills my head in, and that is doley bastards who can work, but dont want to.
When you have people like me, who would kill for a job, but have trouble finding one.
I am very lucky in that I have been paid out a massive compensation payment and so I dont get any benefits or income from the government due to teh payment I got from the insurance, but still... I am fucking bored out of my skull nd would even volunteer, but due to my disability, no one seems to want to risk taking me on.

I work at a gas station and I see so many EBT users buy junk like pop and gummy bears or even energy drinks. I had one lady ask another customer to buy her cigarettes and she would pay for his food. I was shocked and told the lady that you are not allowed to do that, then asked her to leave. I see people buy food on one transaction, then turn around and buy beer, cigarettes or even lottery. You have money for that, but not for food...?

Ted bundy , it's not that simple of a job for some people. Not just physical, mentally too. I have clinical depression and schyzophrenia. I also have an EBT card and am just starting to work again as a housekeeper. They tell me maybe i should go take it as a disability but i know sure as hell i would not want to go back to work. If i got another 1000 a month dollars from disability, i would probably be sitting at home when i should really just get a job. I thought it was impossible but ive finally been hired! If you just give yourself a push and take one day at a time, you can do it.
Its better to get out of the house than just sit around all day; it helps and heals me. But to sit inside all day is never the right choice, you have to go and live your life and respect yourself. So i feel sorry for some of these people.

I was temporarily getting assistance. My ex mil accused me of selling her my foodstamps while i was in jail for helping her son because she got ahold of my card. By then I didnt even have the energy to fight it.
