Hello, We input the combo wrong too many times while trying to change new combo. and now In penalty mode. How long is penalty mode for because it will not allow us to push any buttons. All it does is keep beeping at us?
Penalty mode usually lasts 5 minutes on the ESL locks. You must leave the battery or batteries in an allow the penalty mode to finish its countdown. Removing the batteries while in penalty mode only pauses the countdown until power is reapplied.
If you lose the codes to an ESL10, you will have to contact a qualified AMSEC service tech. They will have to work through AMSEC to receive the reset codes. They will also have to be present in front of the safe and record your vitals before attempting the reset. There are a lot of hoops to jump through for the technician. On the rare occaission that the lock serial number is missing or incorrect--or fails--then they would have to drill to open the lock. if you need more help please let us know. We can usually find a qualified safe technician in your area. You can also go to AMSECUSA.COM and look for a technician through their website.
AmSec ESL10 will not open. No beeps or LED flashes upon pressing any keys. New batteries, wires OK. Power is to the keypad PC board header. Reseated the keypad ribbon cable and deadbolt RJ, still completely dead - no reaction to any keystrokes. I am assuming the keypad has died and needs to be replaced. 1 year warranty on the AmSec locks? Is it common for AmSec electronic locks to have a lifespan like this? Is this something a replacement lock will eventually do again? Is there a longer-lived, more dependable replacement available for retrofit?
Hi David, I apolgoize I'm just now seeing this comment. I hope you have it resolved. We use the ESL10 locks on most any safe we have and believe in the product, that doesn't mean it is perfect. I would still recommend either the ESL10 or a SecuRam basic or L02 lock. Both of these are solid options if you want electronic.
The ESL 10 will not have a time delay. However, the ESL 20 might. Try this link to AMSEC's website. americansecuritysafes.com/learn/operating-instructions/ This should take you to the page where you can download the complete instruction manual for the ESL20. Good luck!
@@StarfleetLockSafeInc much appreciated, I figured out that you have to use the original master combo to change features! Fortunately one of my safes had the original master combo on the locking mechanism
Is it an ESL10? If so, the batteries need to be 9V alkaline Duracell or Eveready Energizer. Don't use anything else. Especially do not use any kind of Lithium batteries. I have found that weak batteries can produce this same issue. Next possibility is a broken deadbolt. Check out my video "Examining a Broken Amsec ESL10". Another possibility is worn out electronics that actually allow the lock to unlock but almost immediately it will lock back up. This is one of those instances where you have to catch it as it opens. Finally, it could be that the relock plate on the inside has been tampered with, knocked loose, or for whatever reason allowed the relock to fire. You will need a safe tech to drill for this device to open and repair the safe. If you would like for us to assit you with a search for a competent safe tech in your area, please let us know.
Hi I believe I have a esl 20 I don’t see the number anywhere but it looks like the esl 20 so I know it was working but I didn’t open it for a longtime and tried to open it again and nothing I thought it was the batteries I replaced them but still it doesn’t do anything no beep nothing when I press C
The first thing we always recommend is to try a second set of brand new Duracell Copper Tops or Energizer Ever Ready batteries. If that doesn't work, you'll find our phone number by searching Starfleet Lock & Safe, give us a call and Gene will troubleshoot with you.
Starfleet Lock & Safe, Inc. thanks so I did put Duracell batteries and I press C it beeps but the number won’t beep so I waited a few minutes and now it doesn’t beep at all
Is the little LED blinking every few seconds? if so, the lock is in penalty mode. You will need to wait 5 minutes or until after the LED quits blinking. Just let it run through the penalty mode uninterrupted. Then, try entering the combination again. If that doesn't work, then it will need to be diagnosed by a quality safe tech, most likely using one of the newer diagnostic tools. One more thing, if you do not see a number on the keypad, you most likely have an ESL10. But depending on the age of your safe, it could also be a KPL100 which was discontinued a long time ago. Email a picture to us and I can tell which lock and keypad you have.

I dont get this... So if someone were to do this to my amsec safe, they can reset the passcode? Or do i need to have the door open to change the combination?
Only someone who knows the CURRENT code to your safe would be able to reset it. If you would like to change your combination we recommend you open the safe, change the combination, check it several times and then close the door. This is because if you run into a problem the safe is open and a professional safe technician can fix the issue much easier with it in the open position. But, I think to answer your question the combination can be changed whether the door is open or closed, we just recommend it being open.
I got a new store and they left the lock in my store but I don’t know the old password how would I rest the password with knowing the old password. Please help me thanks
In the case of a lost combo, the best non-destructive method, is to call a qualified safe technician who is registered with AMSEC USA. That tech can come to your site and verify ownership of the safe, check for the electronic serial number and then contact AMSEC for the reset code. If you need help finding a qualified safe tech in your area, we can help you if you will let us know exactly what city you live in.
Were you able to get this resolved? If you'd give us your city/state/zip either through facebook, instagram or our website, we would be happy to find someone in your area who could help you. --A
Yes, if you have an AMSEC ESL10 safe lock and you replace just the keypad, the current code will still work. Have you diagnosed what is wrong with your current keypad?
Starfleet Lock & Safe, Inc. I have not diagnosed it yet I’ve just put new batteries un plugged it plugged it back in and nothing could I have your email and do you guys sell these key pads I would prefer purchasing through you guys
Hi George, it was nice talking with you today. We hope you're able to get this taken care of and please let us know how it turns out. We always like to know what the end result is when there is an issue.
when I press C nothing happen I have changed the battery still the same thing press C then combo nothing I had some trouble before this I would need to press C over and over intel I would hear the beep the put my combo now I have all my Gun lockup I can not get I need help my safe is a American Security the lock is a ESL10
Your lock could be in penalty mode. Wait 5 minutes and try again. If nothing happens, check the lock cable connection to be sure it is seated properly. If still nothing happens, check the battery terminals to be sure there isn't any damage to the wires. If there is damage to the battery wires, see if you can repair or splice the wires back together - you only need one battery to get the lock to open. If the wires are beyond repair, new terminals can be ordered from AMSEC. If none of that works, you have either a bad keypad or a bad lock. Since you say that there are no sounds when you press the buttons, I would lean towards a bad keypad. However, if you find that you need to replace a keypad, it is my opinion that you should go ahead and replace the lock at the same time.
I love that Anti-peep (spy-proof) you did. Inlove the fact that you can enter as many random digits as you want. At 4:40
It is really a neat little trick!

Is there an override code for these locks? What happens if you change the combination and lose it?

Every time I press any key. It beeps multiple times and won’t allow me to enter a code
will this work on a key pad with a "*" instead of a "C"
its does not have ESL on lock
I replaced batteries but my amsec 10 won't open. I got single beep after I pressed #
How many 9 volt batteries does it have one or two? Thanks
The ESL10 and ESL20 both use two 9V batteries. The ESL5 and ESL15 require only one battery.
How do I cancel the 10 minute timer on this?
There are instructions for the ESL10 on the American Security Website!
