One of the greats. Mitch Mitchells biggest influence. I actually know Elvins daughter, Rosie, who lives in Stockholm, she lives together with a good friend of mine. Mike ”Red Mike” Eriksson a great guitar player!

When I was a kid, I tried to play like Elvin Jones in high school. It didn't mesh well with the kind of r&b/ pop tunes we were covering, tho.

Great feature today! I’m always happy to see when you post a new review/ analysis. It’s a guaranteed watch and like from me, regardless of how good the featured player is. Your knowledge of the style and technique of each player is impressive and informative. The reviews offer great insight and find the good in even the less impressive solo clips, rather than flatly dismissing them with a negative critique.

It would be nice to hear the tune he is playing on so we know the form and melody. Because that is what Elvin is basing his ideas on. The melody is what all great playing is based on.

You don’t want a slap from Elvin. In the end. Boooom on that cymbal. I see more clearly now where John Densmore got his fills from in songs like When the Music’s Over. Have not listened to Elvin for a while. Sweet

@@DrumsetArtistry I understand that drum solos is your channels format. I really feel that you'd enjoy checking out Vic Firth's drum cam of Danny Carey performing the song PNUEMA. Check it out when you're bored. I've never seen anything like it. 6/8, 5/8, 6/8, 6/8. Before the vocals come in there is a bar of 7/8. The first part is alternating 14/8 and 19/8: 3-3-3-3-2, 3-3-3-3-2-3-2, so it's the same first 14 beats for each one, with that little 5/8 tag at the end of the second measure. Mind blowing. ✌
