He was a super cool dude, I spent many of nights throwing back beers with the guy til dawn only to go pick up more beer, lol. Mostly in the late 90s or early 2000s. I first met Edwin at a bar through a mutual friend, and he was an intense guy for sure, but was genuinely interested in hearing other people’s stories.
His band and my band played a lot of the same venues, and we were sort of lumped in with any visual/metal bands so we had knowledge of each other. We still have a copy of the “A Taste of Blood” DVD at our studio, and I have to say it is brutal to watch!!!
Our lead singer has actually been in the back house that Edwin built. He was showing him around and pointing out all of the weapons and such, and then said “and over there is my He-Man collection’…and sure enough he had a collection of He-Man action figures.
The craziest thing I remember him doing (aside from what you couldn’t describe) was nailing his arms to a 2x4 at the Showcase theater in Corona, CA and then pretty much passing out.

Wrong about his birth. Edwin Borsheim was born in 1977 in Klepp, west coast of Norway. 20 min drive from Stavanger. His father was the respected blues guitarist, Per Lorentz Borsheim, who died in 1985, only 38 years old. Edwin moved with his mother to California when he was 13. He was obviously deeply demon possessed.

What's the problem with that? I'm just going to assume from your name that you're a born female (the fact that i even have to say born is appalling but that's another story altogether) and under that assumption I'm also going to assume that you have absolutely no idea how guys work and deal with emotions. So let me explain a little. Men do not love much and we definitely do not show it when we do. We're taught very early not to show emotions, remember. So when we love enough to show it, it's a really big deal. It's not like we just choose to show it. Because we're taught to ignore emotions we also generally don't learn how to control emotions so deciding to show them isn't an option. They're either on or off. (unfortunately that's probably why masculinity is seen as toxic as well) That lack of control paired with being overwhelmed with loving someone is why men have a problem getting over a relationship and also why some men can get very dangerous after a split. It's a dumb reason but for most of us it really isn't our fault. It's not right but its just the way it is.

When narcissistic personality disorder meets music, it makes for some pretty high level cringe content. I honestly think that people like GG Allin, Varg, and this guy, have incredibly fragile egos. It's obviously not about the music and just trying to be in the spotlight by any means necessary. In this case, or like any other who try to be the most "dangerous bands" by doing completely off the wall obscene shit for shock value just degrades the genre, if you make good music you won't have to roll around in your own feces, or mutilate yourself on stage. And if you have any kind of fascination with this sort of thing, seek help..

12:44 Correction: Eva O. never actually was in a relationship with serial killer Richard Ramirez, when she was youthful she wrote numerous love letters to him after his arrest and Ramirez responded to some of them, along with gifting her some of his own possessions - Eva was more of a “Groupie” to Ramirez, as morbid as that sounds.
Eva O. was married to the frontman of the LA-based deathrock band Christian Death, Rozz Williams (and would later form the band Shadow Project with him) until Williams committed suicide in 1998. (I learned a lot of things about her when I was in my “Goth” phase when I was a teenager, she fronted the punk band Super Heroines in the 80’s (and wrote a song about Richard Ramirez called “Night Stalker”), she’s often credited as the ‘Godmother of Goth’.)

I was his only visitor while he was in Los Angeles County for a good four or five years, if not more. We were pretty close for a long time. When he went to Orange County, he opened it up again, and he got bombarded by everybody, so I stopped."

It doesn't sound like Kettle Cadaver is my kinda thing personally, but the guy had a seriously excellent visual sensibility. The "Eva" sculpture looks genuinely unsettling, I like that he spent a lot of time on the face and costume, yet that one outstretched hand, he intentionally left as a gnarled tree limb, very effective. I never knew about them and it's sad to hear that he took his own life. "Coffin Bangers" I just love that title for a song. In a world filled with artists who capitulate to the music industry, fans ect, it's always inspiring to hear about people who truly seek their own vision and deliver.

There was Edwin and then there was “pumpkin man” I knew Edwin pretty well but I only met pumpkin man once and never cared to meet him again. Their songs are always very funny, as well as having an experimental bent. I love how they incorporate pop, folk and jazz into their work.

Possibly a nice guy, but to me he looks like someone stuck in the mind of a 16 year old and wanted to shock but took this a bit too far. His music as well. Pumpkin Man? Really? 😂😂😂

Hey man, not sure if it fits or if you’ve covered it yet but you should definitely do a video on Seth Putnam from AC if you haven’t (doubt YT would let me write the bands actual name lol)
Love the concept, keep it up 🔥

GG is way more intense than this guy. How is it in the internet age you say I heard but can't verify his evil deeds. GG was from the 70s and everything crude he did we have film of it. You even say hes from California when infact hes from Norway.

The music is cartoonish, derivative and pedestrian. The antics are infantile spectacle and as authentic as a $3 bill. A footnote in shock rock on par with professional wrestling in the world of combat sports.

Man great video! Keep doing these videos. This is sad what happened to him and despite his artistic style is great that we get to know these stories!

I always laughed at this guy, similar to the front man for "Shining" He became everything he didnt want to be. How do kettles even have cadavers? lol People forget Steve-O does all the same shit, live. And doesnt need drugs to do it anymore. Its less extreme than a Body mod convention these days, Where I would argue more "authentic" bands play if you're in to all this lame sado masochistic shit, as in they dont worship stories. Edwin worshipped Hollywood.
