Ronnie is a musical genius. One thing I like most about him, is that he's so open about his feelings. He wrote this lyrics while being in prison, getting clean from drugs (heroin I think) and was looking at himself in the mirror. Please check out more by Falling in Reverse. You won't regret it. To me, the first version of this song feels like it has a theme of chaos, and this one feels like despair. I enjoy both, but I have to say I love the reimagined version even more.
I loved this reaction. Music is subjective. To me the song is about his battle to get clean. The female was just a physical representation of the drug. He got tired of running from his passed. He faced his demons and burned his past to the ground so he could start fresh. Thats just one Turtles opinion. You will be happy to know your reaction made me playlist of reactions to this song. As a recovering addict of a very elect street drug this song is very special to me.
You should take a quick look at "The Drug in me is you" from 2011 that this song is a remake of. Exact same lyrics but very different composition and feel. He did the same thing with "I'm not a vampire" from 2011 and ten years later "I'm not a vampire (revamped). You should react to those 2 in the same reaction to see how much he has matured over the years.
I wish you would have done these back to back... the original 1st and then the remake. Same band, same lyrics, much different sound. But there's no way for you to know there was an original without ppl requesting it telling you lol With that said, please do the original, the trilogy, and, "popular monster". =)
It is definately a sad song not a romantic one, he's saying he's addicted to the misery, and the drug in me is you, is saying how addicted he is to her. Also I think one of the most telling lines is the one about life contradicting. I think this his his personal struggle to end an unhealthy relationship. The switch up at the end I believe is his anger at the whole situation coming through, he's addicted to her but knows that it needs to end, the video definately has a tell in it too at the end, the haunting scene is engulfed in flames, ultimately burning up the woman in the dress. That could be interpreted a lot of ways but the way that I see it is that it is that the woman may be consumed by the end of the relationship, and this may also be the reason that the anger comes through at the end, because he may see it as life shattering to her, and he doesnt want to put her through that.
"Everywhere I go I drag this coffin....just in case...." That line always amazes me as a microcosm of his lyrical ability. It's very short, and understated, but has that double meaning, ie you are encased within a coffin. Devastating lyrics from this dude, even though in the original version of the song I think he's just being cheeky, but in this context it has so much weight.
I think the blonde woman represents his addiction: there is an allure, an attraction to it even though it is obviously bad (the badness being shown with the messed up makeup).
Nah in my opinion u are absolutely right.. it truly wasn’t romantic. To me it felt more like a haunting melancholy romance prob cuz I found this song when I was in an emotionally abusive relationship and I truly resonated with it. U are addicted to it (that person) no matter how much u really know that it’s not good for you. But awesome reaction! So happy I did falling in reverse! I hope u do more! :)
I just subbed for more falling in reverse reactions! You should definitely react to more, I would recommend popular monster and the trilogy which is (loosing my mind, loosing my life, and drugs) in that order.
