Just had some Pho last night. Sad broth LOTS OF MSG (I could still feel it in my mouth this morning O_o ) Paid $20 with tip (not deserved tip) For lunch I made your instant Pho but used bone broth instead of water... the rest just like you and WOW!!! Never going to buy Pho again!! Make it yourself! ;-)
I believe rare ground beef is riskier than slices of beef due to anything and everything potentially being mixed in. Yes.....I love my burger medium rare as well.....lol.
@@andreww3621 I have heard from a reliable source, that in China, beef noodle soup is noodle, beef broth and if you are lucky, a itty bity piece of beef.
I know you were not only about food, but looking at your videos, 99% seem not to be. I forget when I found you, possibly the kimchi recipe, but watching you cook a whole fish and making a few other foods was inspiring to eat cheaply, but also healthfully. I hope you do more of a variety of dishes and foods.
Thanks for this. I was just in Singapore two weeks ago and was looking at trying to recreate the Pho I had there, but on the cheap. I’ve made this twice now after looking at your video. Very good, and you’re right about the beef.
Lazy way. I'm serious about 5 minutes. If you have these ingredients in the fridge, and perhaps hot water from a kettle. You can walk out within 5 mins.
Very nice. I buy a grassfed, hydrolyzed, beef bone broth powder from grocery outlet for about a dollar per serving (10g protein) Would be a good edition to this. The bone broth qualities are what really make pho stand out as a healthy comfort food.
@@BeatTheBush I did try it yesterday, it was really good! Some comments: some bone marrow helps, to get more "depth" in the broth; instant rice noodles (MAMA Pho Bo) help, to speed up that meal even more. :-)
I use fresh onion, grinded pho spices, campbell or homemade beef broth for instant pho. Broil the onion n sliced ginger in water for 15 min, add spices and leave it there for 15 min at the lowest temp. noodles are soaked in water, then filter thru the pho broth, bring to broil, add noodles and voila! Pour it into bowl with beansprout n basil.
A cool idea, but keep in mind rare ground beef is more dangerous than rare steak. The grinding process causes bacteria to permeate the entire meat which increases the risk of food poisoning. For steak, a majority of the bacteria is on the surface and can quickly be killed at high temps. Also, is there an easy way to do bean sprouts at home? That is my favorite part of restaurant pho
Very well aware you have to cook ground beef to at least medium. Hence the breaking it up and cooking it long enough. Bean sprouts? Personally, I don't like it much so that is why I didn't add it. But if you like it, they sell them in huge bags and that'll add to the cost.
Perfect. Much easier to make it at sea like this. I will try it with eye of round. I will try it out there. Can you make instant ramen with the same standards?! I think the time consuming part is making the ramen egg... Probably make that well in advance.
It funny as this looks very good. I went to Japan and stayed in a hotel where they thought it was disrespectful for not taking off my shoes, where when people eat and slurp there food, its considered disrespectful to others outside of the Asian community.
You can ignore people slurping their food as people go through life with many sounds around them but when you don't take off your shoes your dragging all the crap (literally) that you walked though onto their floor or carpet. You can't always clean your carpet easily and some stuff doesn't ever come out of the carpet at all.
Ground beef always has to be cooked through as it is not sterile like sliced beef. Grounding it introduces new potential for contamination of bacteria.
Instant pho in bags from Asian store, shredded Sam's rotisserie chicken breast, and all the same veggies. May add chicken powder and fish sauce and sugar to enhance the flavor. Yeah not has healthy, but just a tip to all the lazy and poor Bros out there.
I remember when limes were two or three for a dollar. Now they are twelve for a dollar . =P When I cook rice noodles, they always seem to stick, even when you rinse and try to separate.
You can go to the butcher shop, Buy some beef l. And they will grind the beef in of you. Then you have a better beef, more confidence in safety, and cleanliness.😊
I had pho in Toronto where a bowl cost $21.99. Thanks so much for this recipe, I’m definitely going to try this. Love your channel. 🥰

Yep. Just cook it as much as needed for your comfort before turning off the heat.
I agree with Jim V’s comment, scratch my head?! But it looks so delicious!!! I will definitely try this!!!
Yea... I'd be cooking my ground beef a bit more than that. Also that looks like enough ground beef for two bowels. =P

When was it ever $4? Must be 30 years ago????

Use instant pot and prepare a large batch and freeze in ziplocks. Portion out and thaw when u need broth.
That method costs about $8-10 per bowl.
Love the low cost meal breakdowns! More cooking videos please 🙏
This looks absolutely delicious!!!
Beat the Chef..I like it 👍🏴
=D
Brillant
Love this! Love Pho. Thank you so much.
Glad you enjoyed it!

If you're ok with a poached egg look, just put your egg in with the ramen 2.5 mins before if finish cooking. It will be soft boiled.

Really? I suppose 1lb ground beef might be like $8-10 in SF
My mouth was watering!

Bean sprouts ?

Nope.
@@BeatTheBush so you sold XLE?

Thanks! 😊
I know a bunch of homes in the area that have a similar looking kitchen, lol
This is like a cookie cutter home, all the same materials and style.
What stocks are you still holding?
VOO and a few others... no oil or oil ETFs tho.
@@BeatTheBush when did you sell XLE?
the soul of PHO is basil
I was thinking that was optional if you pick from rice noodle, beef broth, beef, and lime.
You need to add chili sauce and hoisin sauce to your pho 🍜, will make it more tasty
I prefer not to, personal preference.
what is that trash bag contraption in the back?
It uses random bags as trash bags.

Ouch I say. Beef price is ridiculous these days.
U forgot the onion oil!
I didn’t even know they have such a thing. I normally add 1 tspn sesame oil.
the groundbeef usage is similar to a vietnamese soup that uses ground beef in its soup, mnay know it as vietnamese abc soup
Nice. Yeah, I've seen very rarely this being done but they called it fillet mignon lol.
I prefer chicken anyway, so this should be cheaper for me. I would say use spaghetti noodles, but that may be too cheap and too odd tasting. =P

Yes!!!
Opps. I was expecting tons of comments complaining about 'lip smacking'
Actually I think it's pronounced "Fowe". Foe, like enemy. My girlfriend is 1/4 Veitnamiese.
are you fah real?

Maybe it's true. I got kicked out because it's too expensive now.
you can get pho for 2-3 bucks in vietnam. just move there. LOLs. there shitload cantonese there.... since you already speak it.
Get the Pho outta here!!!!
No way... don't get it out, I want to eat it!
Fish sauce has MSG in it, and the rice noodles are gluten.
Not the red boat one. Rice doesn't have gluten.

ground beef needs to be fully cooked. too much bacteria in it
Geez, at least use sliced beef or beef balls over ground beef
Dude that’s not even the right kind of noodles for pho lol
That's correct. If you buy the real kind, this will no longer be $2 but $2.50.
What the pho
