- Thank Goodness You're Here is a delightfully weird and occasionally slightly sinister Yorkshire adventure that involves slapping a lot of people, and routinely shrinking for no well-explained reason...

One thing's for certain, there's no way Jon laughs as much playing this as Dan did.
Took exception to the Cockney but missed the Scot. You can spot the London immigrant ;-)
Makes me proud to have spotted the scot as a foreigner myself
I find it really weird actually that he didn't laugh at all
@@Kaarl_Mills Cutting room floor maybe?
I'm sorry, who is Dan? What channel is that? Would like to watch a full playthrough of this.
@@zellorz I tried to give you a link to the video but that reply got auto deleted. You want @NerdCubed. He did a livestream of this, and there's also a "highlight" video compiling all the moments of uncontrollable laughter which is about 20 minutes.
Jon, please finish the game. It's horrible and you will make Claire laugh!
Seconded. You have exhibited an insufficiency of nerd, Jon.
I like how the cobbler has a wee and THEN gets out of bed.
Jon... this is a game that doesn't care for perception and feeds your compulsive need to do every single quest in the most nonsensical order.
I feel like it's *perfect* for you.
14:56 "I can't actually slap the sausages"
Well, this is TH-cam, so that's probably for the best.
The profile image suits this comment so well.
Just for people who aren't familiar with the north of England I can confirm this is a 100% accurate representation..... possibly more swearing....
Definitely more swearing.
@@myrddinemrys1332 A Fuck load more swearing
I have heard the town this game is based on is weird AF
@@chrisdiokno5600 It's definitely the real Royston Vasey. I live very close...
Jon: goes into the roof-space where there's no lights or windows.
Also Jon: "Why is it night now?"
Perception as active as ever there.
"This just got weird and I don't like it!"
As if everything that happened in the previous 29 minutes was a typical Tuesday! Right, never going anywhere near Yorkshire! Got it!
0:49 "I can speak Yorkshire a bit"
Jon, you think language is your ally? You merely adopted the Yorkshire. I was born in Barnsley, molded by it. I didn't speak normally until I was already a woman, by then it was nothing to me but deafening
So this is going to be a dumb question. I'm not a Brit. Is Yorkshire its own language? Dialect? Or do people there just talk funny and that's the joke?
@@monsieurlaguillotine3481 it’s both a dialect and fairly distinct accent
@@monsieurlaguillotine3481 there's videos of Sir Patrick Stewart demonstrating his native Yorkshire speech. He calls it a dialect because not only is it damn near incomprehensible to outsiders, it uses a lot of different words and syntax ("thee" and "thou", for instance), and I'd have to agree.
"Yorkshire is a Place. Yorkshire is a State of Mind."
Barnsley is a place. Barnsley is a corrupted twisted tormented state of mind. Bleedin' dingles.
Yes, the gardner is voiced by matt barry
thank you for saving me an internet search
Unsure if Jon is intentionally not reacting to the jokes or if he actually didn't get/notice/like the jokes 😅
He did really like that horribly unfunny 'vision mix the terribly acted tv show' game - it might just be different tastes in comedy.
Although I definitely get the impression he dug this, even if he didn't find it hilarious.
It's Jon, so I'd put decent odds on 'not noticing'.
They aren't jokes to him, they are simply accurate representations of his people.
He generally cuts out any laughter or comments he makes during cutscenes. Usually fine but for something like this the style doesn't work great.
@@GregorBarclay what game>
Yorkshire opening quest - locate tea
Spiffin' great tea, too!
@@greensleevez This is the gold standard for quests.
😂
The "For A Good Time" sign on the fence next to the pole you climb up (14:58) is one of the best sight gags in the entire game.
When I'm depressed, like proper void like depression - I watch Jon play the silliest games. Jon's happiness at the silliest little things radiates through these videos and brings light to my (and I assume other's) lives. Thanks Jon - for years of happiness.
"Hello! I'm a worm!" I think I love this game
Never seen anyone play this game without laughing
The contrast between jon and Dan's videos is incredible (if you don't have time to watch Dan's full stream then just watch his highlights). I don't think jon got the game at all, which is a shame because it's one the funniest games ever made
I've been waiting for him to get to this!
This game is so insane that it's an incredibly Jon-y game
Unfortunately, compared to other people playing it, this wasn't worth the wait...
I'm from Rotherham, so right next to Barnsley and this game is perfectly understandable
This is like untitled goose game if it was an acid trip
This feels like Yellow Submarine by the Beatles and South Park had a baby, and it'll scar people for life.
With quite a big touch of The Mighty Boosh.
And Monty Python.
It must've cost the devs a fortune to hire Billy Connolly.
I thought that was him! Couldn’t find him credited on IMDB but that voice is legendary
Is it ? It doesn't sound like him, sounds like someone putting on a voice to try and sound like Billy
@@JamieAubreyJames, it was a joke. It's obviously not him.
Not sure if it’s been edited out, but there’s a fair bit of side quests and humor/dialogue missed by moving on from an area too quickly before talking to everyone and checking most objects..Looking forward to seeing you finish this, and (preferably) hopefully as a live stream with Claire!
Edit: As much as I appreciate the edits in a MATN video, I feel that TGYH is one of those games that works much better as a live stream with everything kept in from start to finish. This is one of those games where you can tell there’s so much detail and love put into this project.
This is what his typically does with sorter games, plays it for a bit and then tells you to go buy it and finish it yourself.
@@ruler2k2k2 yeah, I just hoped this one would of been a livestream is all. Definitely would have enjoyed hearing their reactions to the sketches. 🙂
I love that Jon objects to the Cockney but not the Scot, lol.
Why should he object to the Scot? It is Oop North.
@@stylesrj right, seems to me a Scotsman makes more sense than a Cockney gal
'Cause Scots are the best o' us, that's why!!
Unsure why but this seems like a playable adultswim show. Or at least taking the piss out of those shows
29:10
When in these odd scenes, it almost has a Lovecraftian feel. Like that of the Dream Realm where people can interact in a sort of parallel reality. The main difference is that nothing physical can be taken in or out of the Dream Realm, only memories and thoughts.
That said, your character going between the two sort of explains the size chaos: he's not human...🌕
I was super overstimulated at work this morning and this game/Jon’s voice contributed to chilling my brain out. Thank you for playing such a delightfully odd game.
The fact Jon's missing like, 95% of the game with his direct point to point method of problem solving is deeply distressing, haha
I have never been to Yorkshire but I am going to assume this game is 100% accurate to how things are over there.
Oh good, I was going to start commenting "Day 1 of asking Jon to play Thank Goodness You're Here" on this very video
Edit: Never thought I'd see someone play this game without laughing once... fascinating
When I say I was waiting for this video, you don't understand how desperately I was waiting for it haha
I thought I ended up at Spiff's channel...
Jon skipped over the whole Flower minigame, meaning he either laughed too hard or not at all.
Jon is the first person who played this who have not laughed at Price Shaggers. Are we sure Jon is a real person?
This is amazing, right up my alley. It feels like a mix of OG Adventure Time and Newgrounds flash games. I love it!
Those wondering what "apples and pears" is Cockney rhyming slang for: "stairs".
how is something this funny, I just laughed for thirty six minutes and thirty one seconds (yeah, there was a second there I had to catch my breath)
12:23 if you did a side quest earlier this guy makes an extra joke
It feels like every British TH-camr is legally required to play this game. Loving it, though.
i was so excited to see you play this
is it just me or does this kinda feel a little bit like British Gravity Falls??
Untitled Goose Game with a really weird 70's British psychedelic twist. Nice.
this game just reminds me of regular show with the weirdness and odd animation xD
So glad Jon is playing this one, it's so weird and great
As someone who grew up in a South Yorkshire pit village, this game fills me with Joy. Si thi me old
14:32 Jon wants to slap sausages stuck though a *”946 hole….
Then it just gets worse
That little lemon dude sure can take a lot of punishment
I had no idea there was a "Yorkshire Mode." I got to prank my brother now-he'll think he's having a stroke.
01226 is the landline area code for Barnsley!
it's true...
Punch Matt and Dan... make episode 20 of the podcast already!!!!
is this unintelligible goose game?
Untitled acid game
The song from the opening also appears in Kes, Ken Loach's kitchen sink drama. It's a fantastic film about a boy from Barnsley, the town that Barnsworth from this game is based on.
I had to stop at the 3:00 mark and just laugh. Lady licked the card and put it on the computer screen to play solitaire!
23:46 There's only one who talks like that! It Matt Berry!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Nothing of the culture or the region, but this game freaking is amazing
This feels like a Newgrounds flash game in the best way possible. Big Cuboy vibes if anyone remembers that deep cut.
Reggie's Wife could learn a thing or two from Jon's playthrough.
Ey up Jon!
TH-cam has "Translate to English" under this which is disgusting anti Yorkshire racism and I won't stand for it ;-)
The best part about this comment is the "translate to English" button TH-cam put on it lol
My god, this is amazing. It's so weird but still kind of makes sense. I love this.
Yorkshire is bread that thinks it's pudding.
Jon generally edits out laughing. If he did a livestream you’d hear it.
Met some of the dev team at Pax West, it was awesome
I have been waiting for this since I found out it existed
jon, just make sure you hit everything. or you will miss the fun eastier eggs and such. you have already missed quiet a few things.
Thank goodness you're here! Brilliant.
I remember putting this on the reddit suggestion thread - and I cannot wait to see Jon's reaction to it
So this is just “Untitled British Game”
This game is just wildly surreal
Would really like to see this in the full Yorkshire mode
This is absolutely, absurdly, amazing.
This is art.
I absolutely love the "Adult Swim" style of this.
Living here still in the good old supposed capital of the north.... This isnt too far off the mark sadly. As a kid computers where only just been, introduced into my rural area, and much of everything else was a hold over from the 1980's. Its truly a region which many parts are stuck in the past... Also the abuse the shop keeper giving the worker is a normal part of life in this area, and no its not light heated or in good sport the area has just normalized rampant abuse and most people aren't even the slightest bit self aware to it.
As an American listening to this in the background, I keep thinking of Cousin Avi in "Snatch:" "Speak English to me, Tony. I thought this country spawned the f*king language, and so far nobody seems to speak it."
Dang. I wanted Jon to play in Yorkshire mode.
Very much looking forward to watching this after finishing the game.
This is definitely a game that benefits from *_far_* less editing...
Sorry Claire, nothing against your work 😇
this is brilliant! More please!
I don't know what just happened, but i neartly pissed myself laughing🤪
15:24 Johns racism is showing
Okay, I made it nine minutes in and I am NOT watching this video all the way through because I KNOW I'm gonna love this game and I want to discover everything myself
Little known fact that Jon probably doesn't know, I believe the Barnsworth of the game is named after the area somewhere between Barnsley and Wakefield which had Barnsworth forest. Which iirc is believed to be where the first robin hood was from!
This game has a touch of yellow submarine to it
01226 is actually the telephone code for Barnsley😂😂
Jon we need to see this through. Do a part 2!
I think you might be the last person to put up a let's play of this. I've seen so many I know that beginning off by heart.
This game goes down well with your humour Jon xD
This game is bonkers.
I adore the obvious Billy Connelly-inspired Scotsman
This is Yorkshire. This is Yorkshire on drugs. Any questions?
Fish or chips: 10 bob.
Literally everything: 10 bob.
I'm getting Amazing World of Gumball vibes from this
I never figured Yorkshire for a surreal wonderland. Some kind of coal gas?
Polluted water shed. 😅
This vid was great! This game was funny and weird and it ruled.
Painful to watch Jon flex his good old Negative Perception score, missing half the bloody game by skipping the core game loop; slap everything until it stops doing something different! He even called it out right at the start of the game proper!
... I feel like this is a game where either the makers were high, expected the players to be, or both 😆
It's strangely compelling to watch, at least with Jon at the helm, but I wouldn't play it if it were free 😅
8:50 hang on...He his a can of lager and big wee, then gets out of bed?
This was delightful
I was hoping you would play this one!
There's a bit of the Goon Show in some voices ! Good fun - cheers
