Sorry, but Floripa is not California, it's Rio de Janeiro, because it's the city in Brazil that is most similar (communist, full of slums, crimes, poor and drug addicts on the streets and where people don't like to work). Florianopolis is Florida.

It is the smallest County of Santa Catarina, Theres a lot of beaches too for every site of the city you take, kinda simillar to Floripa.
One thing i Feel for our tourism (in brazil) judging by the video is the lack of at least 1 person to have the knowledge to speak simple english, a manager or some like that (in a restaurant), makes me sad.
Glad you guys are cool, safe and could make it without problems so far.
Hope a Safe Travel for u guys, and enjoy Brasil !

I want to see the gringos visiting the eastern and southern beaches of the island. Tourists tend to flock to the northern beaches, but the most beautiful ones end up not knowing... The downtown is also interesting and shows the local culture, but the 42 beaches, the trails and waterfalls are the most special parts of the city. We have several different accents here in Brazil. The accent of people from Floripa is very different from the accent of the people from São Paulo. In São Paulo they say SEIS and in Floripa they say SEIX. That's because of the different colonization.

@@manosphere101satire I think It's helpful to use this kind of alternative spelling to explain pronunciation for non-speakers of the language, I've noticed even if they've heard how a word is pronounced they can often be confused by the Portuguese spelling, so I stand by my original comment in regards to that.
As for my usage of "the", I'm no expert in English grammar so any corrections are welcome, but I used it because I was talking about different spellings and pronunciations of the word Seis throughout the whole comment and I wanted to specify at that point that I was refering to the variation of Seis that has a voiceless postalveolar fricative instead of the regular S, therefore 'the' Seis with an "S chiado" and not the other variations of Seis.

Hi, i'm from Floripa. When we say a word that ends with the letter S, the sound of the word comes out as if it had the SH at the end. It's our accent. In São Paulo, as you said, the pronunciation is really different. In Rio de Janeiro, it's more similar to the name, but it's more intense.
