Oh wow I didn’t know Phyllis was using the peace pipe?! I just thought she snorted lines? Good Lord!!! 😮
Funny thing is Angela Bofill had similar issues with Clive Davis over him wanting her to eschew her own jazz background for crossover dance pop (Too Tough was her You Know How to Love Me though not as remembered as YKHTLM).
...that album had some smokers, though..
Angela Bofill could sing!! Chile!!. She didn't get her proper credit, she got overshadowed by Whitney Houston and even Phyllis but I love her song "tonight i give in to the feelings of loving you"
They was out before whitney also they were looking for younger singers like Whitney.
Angela had been recording for Arista three years before Whitney arrived. Too Tough was her closest claim to pop fame and it never entered the Hot 100. Whitney was either just signed or about to be when it was riding on the R&B and dance charts.
Phyllis Hyman was two generations of singers before Whitney. Angela was about one and a half generations before Whitney. They were both excellent song stylists. I was a fan of Phyllis tho. Regardless..when Whitney came on the scene, she overshadowed everyone. She was That talented. Big Ups and utmost respect to all three sisters. Rest in Eternal Peace...🪔🪔🪔🔥🔥🔥🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
@@reggaelove7223 Right.
Phyllis (1949) and Angela (1954) were already releasing music before Arista bought out their labels. Whitney (1963) was for a very different generation (80s, Gen X era). Plus Phyllis was only just a few years younger than Aretha and Dionne.
Good morning Nay, Lu, Ro Ro, and everyone ❤. Love the Miki Howard shirt. Miki is an incredible singer. I saw her once at the Capital Centre. I never knew Phyllis was hitting the pipe😳 either.
Good Morning family. Did not know Phyllis was on the pipe 😮. Yikes!
El Diablo really was collecting divas like Infinity Stones. Nay, you are preaching this morning. We never get tired of hearing about that menace "the Texan".
The Texan sounds like a nightmare. 😢
Me either especially when I had one of my own and he was also a cancer ♋️. This ninja 🥷 is still stalking me coming from Texas so Cali to bother me, I’ve had to flee to Jamaica 🇯🇲 and now I’m back in America (Cali) rebuilding my life. Every time she talks about her experiences I can definitely relate.
🙏🏿🙏🏿 Nay you telling your story 🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿 im glad you doing what makes you happy
Good Morning Nay . Now I love Angela Bofill lol lol Phyllis Hyman is a legend too .
Good morning Nay, I look forward to your book readings..Keep up the awesome work!!!!
You are truly entertaining!!!
😂 I DID wind up going to the store for her 😂
"when she leave, I be talking" 💀⚰️
Nay I want to say thank you for reading Phyllis Hyman book, when I first heard Phyllis music I was a Teenager visiting my older cousins in Dallas Texas. I’ve been in love with her and her music since then. I was pregnant with my oldest son depressed about his father who had just ghosted me when she passed. When she left this earth it felt like apart of me left with her. So every day I live and breathe I feel like so does Phyllis, I celebrate Phyllis any chance I get. I’m a designer so I’ve even done projects for fashion school to introduce others to the great Phyllis Hyman.
GM Nay& fur babies! Good book Phyllis was something else! Lol 😂😂
Angela Bofill was the truth and every time her and Phyllis met Phyllis tried to make it a competition Angela Bofill just did her thing Phyllis could be quite nasty and had a very nasty disposition at times and a nasty mouth I have a friend that sang background for her.
Good morning ☀️ ❤
Good morning nay
Hello Nay, Lulu, Roro and commenters.
I love the opening song and know it's go go, but who?? Personally,I like both singers. Angie is from da Boogie Down like me( may she now RIP), but I love Phyllis' grooves too. I'm truly sorry she took herself out of the equation of life but seems to me, the ones who have much to give do that or feel they are at the end of their ropes
