Learning Gaelic is way easier when you’re teaching!
true
Mòran taing! Thank you for your kind words. 🙂
Despite being 28, my maturity was not ready to talk about the "Thai as blasta." Sounds like a wild night
I was just able to keep it together until Jason started laughing.
Oh geez, I didn't pick up on that until you pointed it out. I was laughing about the 'as'. 😄 A wild night indeed...
The style of teaching you use is wonderful.
Duolingo was like a competition on Facebook. I got ambitious one week and spent most of the week practicing my Irish.
The next week they expected me to mach or exceed that. It was push, push , push.
I felt like I was being tortured. On top of that The pronunciation was different from instance to instance with no explanation.
The way you teach is miles above that!
It's actually what I hope existed, but didn't think anyone was doing this.
SO I THANK YOU VERY MUCH JASON!
The way you teach is fantastic
Love your classes, Jason. You're amazing!
Mòran taing, a Charolina! I am glad my lessons are meaningful to you. It's always good to see your comments on here. 🙂 Take care and enjoy the rest of your day!
@@GaelicwithJason Tha mi cho toilichte seo a leughadh. Tha thu nad thidsear iongantach! I hope this is right! Lok
You are so wonderful Jason and I think. Will work and yes giving my brain a chance. Yes no racing thank you Jason you are so wise.
thank you Jason I will watch it again. great tips. Yes a day or two.
My pleasure, Cynthia. Thanks for watching! 🙂
"That was the best cup of coffee I ever had". Great! Now I can translate a Jethro Tull lyric into Gaelic 😁
Just got to this unit in duolingo. Thank you for this video! It clarifies a lot of questions I had.
I'm glad it clarified them! 🙂 Whoo!
So much gingerbread wisdom to be learned!
Love your torc. I will buy one too oneday.
Thanks, George! I highly recommend the torcs from Craft Celts. His work is extremely skillful and he'll look after you if anything happens to one of his pieces. One of the strands broke on my torc years ago and he fixed it for free. I'd like to buy him a pint sometime and hear more about this work.
Enjoy your weekend!
Thanks, Jason !
My pleasure, Julie! Thanks for watching. 🙂I hope your week goes well.
thanks man
My pleasure, John. Thanks for watching and take care. 🙂
Fun with homophones...and a great way to ensure I will remember superlatives....lol!!! Glad to see I am not the only one to get a good giggle out of that! Nas to as...got it. :P Tapdh leht a charaid, sibh as fhearr! (Hopefully it works with personal pronouns that way too, if not, I am sure you get it ;) )
Glad you enjoyed it! 🙂 I got it no problem! Take care and enjoy the rest of your week.
Google was no help, so I came here to ask a question, and as fate would have it you used what I'm curious about in your first example! What is " 'S " short for?
Good going, Fate! The 'S in 'S e is just a shortened form of *Is*, which means 'is/am/are'. It's emphatic though, ie: 'S/Is math sin = That is GOOD!
'S e biadh Thai as blasta = It is THAI FOOD that is the most delicious.
Whatever follows that * Is / 'S * is the most important bit of that phrase.
Does that help, Kyle?
@@GaelicwithJason sgoinneil! Moran taing! (I think I'm missing some accents there)
Have you done past tense comparisons yet?
Hi Stephen! Good to see you today. Yes, the 2nd video of this 'series' of 3 is all about the changes that happen in the past tense. 🙂
💖
Deagh obair! (meant to say, "Nicely done!) 'S i a ’Ghàidhlig as fheàrr! Móran taing, Jason.
Tapadh leat, a Kirsten, agus 's e do bheatha. 🙂 Suas leis a' Ghàidhlig!
'S e bhidio an seo as èibhinn🤣! "Ann an bhidio an seo, bruidhnidh sinn mu dheidhinn as." 🤣🤣
Hehe, tha mi toilichte gun do chòrd e riut, a Sheumais! 🙂
What if it was the smallest, tastiest cup of coffee? An cupa cofaidh as lugha bhlasta?
lets hope he replies to your question
maybe it is as lugha as blasta, or as lugha agus as blasta.
Hmmm, I see a few options here:
1) An cupa cofaidh as lugha, as blasta.... *or*
2) An cupa cofaidh as lugha agus as blasta... *or*
3) An cupa cofaidh as lugha 's as blasta... (agus --> 's)
Of those, I personally would go with 3. Native speakers often shorten 'agus' to just * 's*. It helps the words flow into one another a bit more smoothly.
Would "S' e as blasta" mean "It is the tastiest" on its own? Or would you need to state what you're referring to within the sentence?
Nicely done, Levi. Yes, that would work if what you're referring to is grammatically masculine. Otherwise it would start with 'S i. 🙂
Do you know other languages?
Bha mi a' coimhead airson leabhar Gàidhlig Dihaoine. Lorg mi Ròna Agus MacCodrum. Leugh mi e. "Tha mi ga thuigsinn!" smaoinich mi. A' chiad sgeulachd ann an Gàidhlig. Tapadh leibh airson a' sgrìobhadh.
Sgoinneil, a Thaid! Tha mi toilichte sin a chluinntinn! 'S e do bheatha. 🙂 Bidh an ath leabhar na 'sequel' do Ròna agus MacCodruim....
Tapdh leat a charaid!
'S e do bheatha, a Charole! 🙂 Beannachd leat!

Tapadh leat! 🙂
Ionnsachadh Gàidhlig? Bidh e nas dorra na tha dùil air ... 😕
I hear you, Graham. If we approach Gaelic in an intellectual way, it can seem complicated. If it's useful to you, I recommend not worrying too much about grammar and specific rules at the beginning. Leave that for when you're already conversational and wanting to sharpen your accuracy. Take it little-by-little and focus on the meanings of words and phrases. This way will not only save your sanity but get you to fluency more quickly. I am here for you, a charaid! You can do it. 🙂
Tha mi toilichte gu bheil a ’Ghàidhlig agam a’ fàs nas fheàrr. tapadh leat jason
Fáilte ar ais aríst , a leaid . Obair math aríst.
Mòran taing, a charaid! Is math a bhith air ais. 🙂 Beannachd leat! Cum sàbhailte!
