The anime cut scene and the scene both show the scream happens after Thanatos starts trying to tear himself free from being trapped inside Orpheus so I genuinely feel it's a scream of pain, and makoto doesn't find the answer to life until after his time with the sees crew. The.movie version fits more with what you're saying
I love this. Really wish there was an Orpheus/Thanatos Theurgy that let you make it happen again. That "screen glitch" effect is way too good to only happen once.
The part where he grabs the evoker and shoots at his head is just a straight copy of the movie, everything else seems to be inspired by the OG awakening

If you know about them from later, you can see a Akihko the SEES battle gear that you'd not get till later on in the game after you recuit a certain someone IYKYK. Why i point this out? He says when you get it, he was testing the prototype. Persona games really have that, how do you say, things you miss on the first playthrough things...
Its too bright, theres no build up, and the 3d kinda makes it look more jank. They shouldve stuck with 2d. I like reload a lot more than the original but this and the first cutscene of the game were downgraded for sure
Ok I just saw this and.. yeah that one thing that's missing was the fear of pulling the trigger. Where's the sweat? The hesitation? Pupils constricting? The shaky breath? Also yeah they could've done it similar to how they did Persona 5, or kept the OG animation for this one.
I think this was even freakier the second time around because of the enhanced graphics.....although I like the awakenings in 5 more because of the little "conversation" all the thieves had with their persona's before they came out
Idk, man, I'm having real mixed feelings about this. It looks fine and all, but the original had so much texture. The way the evoker sat in the pool of blood, the way it cut between a bunch of different shots, you could feel every second pass by agonisingly slow, you could feel every *breath*. Here? The scene is rushed, it loses a lot of what made it *work*, it feel sanitised.
The original also had the constant static going on making it much more eerie, a much slower build up to using the evoker, and Death seeming a lot more brutal and animalistic, ripping out of Orpheus instead of the weird stretch effect in the new one.

An eerie, creepy, big and greenish full moon isn't what something most normal people will think is bright and smooth. Along with the various coffins and blood on the floor. It would be bright if the moon is that big. You're just used to the bizarre that its normal.

Thanatos can be fused in Velvet Room like any other ultimate persona of each major arcana. Thanatos has that look probably because the bond of friendship between MC and Pharos and/or lazyness of devs to find an unique aspect for him.
Do like the glowup of the scene but think it's less impactful then the old scene. Thanatos was why more scary in the animation because of the screeches and panting for me.

In the first version it felt like she would have had time to steel her nerves and is dragged out with a bit too many angles ( though the attacks hitting around her i would have preferred to be carried over) . Also with how the shadow is shot he feels far bigger and faster in the remake ( that might just be me though).Yes he is quick on the uptake but that’s because he doesn’t have the luxury of time that he seems to take in the original ( also i feel the “go on” nudge after he has picked it up fits better)( also side note i think if they added the envoker actually keeping the blood on it in the og it would have hit harder). And i have seen people saying about how they liked how it took time and the heart beat making it more intense but i would argue the silence shaky breath and the only sound being the metal of the envoker going to his held is just as effective and just personally hit harder, less is more type deal. Though the “per so na” line is just kinda better in the og at least when talking the english ( no hate to the actor or saying that it was bad in The remake i just prefer the og reading of the line). Now lets get to thanatos , honestly heavily prefer the remake he feels more animalistic and the sound effects make the tearing out feel more visceral and that blood curdling scream from the protagonist sells it ( especially with the fact its all with his hands unlike the original where he already had his sword drawn) . The attack on the shadow also feels more vicious and personally they make him feel more of a big deal in the remake personally. Tldr i like both and they are both good in different ways , but personally i like the new one more And don’t go calling things shit just because it isn’t the original ,don’t be the guy that is like “ its new so the old one must be trash” either , you can like one over the other but do look at the merit the other one has

I'm not sure what you're talking about when you said they made him more animalistic when he's less animated and more subdued here. Dude was roaring like a T-rex in the OG and he sounded very angry. Here, he's acting more like a zombie after it feasted on someone's carcass.

I didn't see anyone complain about this, but compared to the rest of the entire scene, Orpheus and Thanatos' animations felt way too stiff. Might just be me, but it was kinda goofy edit: i forgor to mention, I only see this issue when thanatos first comes out
Only complaint is I wish it was actually animated and not this. It still looks good but also kinda not at the same time, I mean Thanatos at the end is like "yeah this will happen to you if I see you around here again" coming off as menacing but it's like a empty threat too like a guy who thinks he's tough but not. But no overall the scene was cool, I never seen the original so I don't have much to go off of but I have seen Persona 4 golden and persona 5 so yeah... but I see what they were going for.

Uhm. Did anyone else notice that all the blood pools on the roof are gone? The Dark Hour is supposed to have pools of blood everywhere. I'll applaud the effort of remaking one of my favorite games but this just doesn't have the same visceral ugliness the original had. It's too pretty.

My only gripe… it’s waay too smooth. Persona 3 was gritty. It was ike watching a japanese horror film. This is waaay too bright for the awakening.

That lead guitar is too tame, the original had way better tone and distortion which matchesd the grit of the game a lot better
