You definitely need the lyrics, rap is definitely about rhyming but motifs, illiterations, word schemes are just as important than just rhyming. Dance With Devil by Immortal Technique arguably the greatest rap song written, minimal rhyming in it. Great storytelling though.

He absolutely does rhyme in the beginning. Hes's using slant rhymes, which all the best rhymers in hip hop use. youre missing most if them, which is why you wrongly thought he wasnt rhyming. This is like basic hip hop 101 knowledge. Cmon man. Once you get really good, you graduate from those simple ABC rhyme structures. Likewise, overrhyming or using simplistic rhyme structures is also looked down upon once you get in the top tier and get to a higher skill level. Its seen as something only amateurs do. Rhyming has never been the end all be all in Hip hop as well. There are hundreds of other skills that are just as important, if not more important. The bulk of it does rhyme and make sense.
