Shadow of the Colossus to me feels less like a game and more like you’re stepping into a living painting. From the geography/architecture design and cinematography used to showcase them to the designs and movements of the colossi themselves, this game creates something truly special with its atmosphere.
I've never finished it on my own, though I did play through it with a friend where we passed the controller on each death... It has a fair bit of jank that can make it frustrating, but the feeling of the game was incredible, especially back then. Even more crazy is that I had the special edition version of it for PS2, with the near case and all, that I got from a friend when his PS2 died.
It's crazy to me that I live in a time where a game from my childhood looks as good as it did through rose tinted glasses. This masterpiece has always blown my mind in terms of how absolutely cinematic every single action was, even the simple stuff like raising your sword and your vision getting blurry from the light to manteling over these behemoth puzzles of the colossus to just exploring the world and coming across those stamina lizards every single part of this game is beautiful and it deserves every ounce of praise and then some

When you beat the first colossus: "Why didn't that feel good?" Because it never attacked you. Even after you stabbed its calf wound, all it ever did was try to shake you off. It didn't fight back. It didn't swing its club or try to stomp you with its hooves or anything...

Thank you Eric for taking interest in this game to bring it back to light for us who hold a special in our hearts for it and to introduce it to those who never played this.
I saw someone in chat mention how originally they played for 48 colossi! N omg how I would’ve loved to see those designs and those fights come to life, I’m still thankful to have a solid 16 that I love each of them for their own reasons but man I would have loved to play through them all even if it meant longer and more struggles.

This is probably the hardest game for Pointcrow to play...not due to difficulty (most of the colossi are easy outside about 5 and the final one being kinda BS if you don't know what to do) but due to it requiring a lot of patience which, from what I've seen in most videos, is a trait Pointcrow lacks for the most part.
I find it so hilarious that they adjusted the size of either agro or the main guy. Originally, he was so tiny that I was convinced he was a preteen riding a full-on war horse lol
I’ve been trying to play this game the last few days and I’ve really lost a lot of motivation. I’ve been skipping every cut scene and I just can’t help but be frustrated. But watching a let’s play of someone playing it for the first time is so refreshing. I’m probably going to be leaving this on as I get the last few trophies. Honestly it’s so good man.
This game has such a special place in my heart. A family friend bought it for my brother and I when I was 6 and he was 9. I was immediately completely captivated, and although I didn't play it myself, I watched my brother attempt the first colossus what felt like at least 100 times, and never got bored. He never got past the second one but I watched every attempt. To this day I don't think any other game has kept me so enthralled, and I have ADD so that's saying something 😂

Just listening to you talk about all the things you love about helldivers and I realized it kind of checked all the boxes haha. I love it. 100%. Chat do be chat
That whole era after BOTW released where literally any game that had grass in it was insulted as a “eww BOTW clone” fucking hated those people.
It's especially dumb since SotC is way older than BotW
😭😭 SOTC also is obviously influenced by Zelda. I don't think there is anything wrong in comparing or pointing out similarities. Whenever creative processes are involved, it's not unusual that they influence each other.
@@Basthey you, out of the gene pool.
Amazing playthrough brother and you are by far the smartest dude that I already saw playing this game, amazing how fast you figured it out the puzzles and your theories was amazing even with so little information 😮
i dislike people comparing games but when that one person conpared hydrus to rayquaza that was pretty funny
I see SotC and I watch. Was my number one favorite game of all time for a very long time, since the PS2 era. It's been topped now, but there's a few contenders at this point.
What is your top now?
OMG! I am so excited to watch this! I have played SOTC early when it released and its one of my favorite games. I even have picked up a few times to replay it.
"Guys, we did it, but Imma be real... Why didn't it feel good?" First colossus in, and he already gets it
This game inspired a wonder in me that I still have to this day.
I love this game so much I have a sigil tattooed over my heart and everytime I go see my sister (she lives in another state) I play on my brother in law's Playstation, EVERYTIME
I desperately want you to play The Last Guardian now! Its by the same studio and is INCREDIBLE.
Ico too, of course!
@@DraezethReally wish Sony didn't murder Japan Studio and Team Ico by extension, then we could have an Ico remake. Some things aren't meant to be I guess.
@@noodleman4555 At least we're getting another Ueda game!
So excited to watch this! I’ve loved shadow of the colossus forever and it’s wonderful seeing you play it.
Thanks for buying a PS4 just for it!
The boss fight music is so iconic.
I’ve waited 4- no 5,000 years for this.
Pointcrow Vs Jacksepticeye SOTC Speedrun 2024.. how about THAT
I’ve been trying to play this game the last few days and I’ve really lost a lot of motivation. I’ve been skipping every cut scene and I just can’t help but be frustrated. But watching a let’s play of someone playing it for the first time is so refreshing. I’m probably going to be leaving this on as I get the last few trophies. Honestly it’s so good man.
One of my favorite in game soundtracks and one of my favorite games of all time!
I have both ps2 and ps4 and have this game on both because i love it. So nice to see you play through it
38:19 "I mean we did it. But like. Why did it--guys I'm gonna be real--why didn't it feel good? That was kind of sad."
Yeah,
Fun fact: The composer of the soundtrack in Shadow fo the Colossus is the same as in Gundam Wing. Once you know it, you can't not hear it.
To this day I don't think any other game has kept me so enthralled, and I have ADD so that's saying something 😂
dude, this was one of the first games i have ever played! It made such a big impact on my childhood, im so glad you played it :)
Love that you're experiencing this! I've played this game on PS2, the port on PS3 and the remaster for PS4 lol. One of my favorite games of all time. Also why didn't anyone tell him about the fruits or lizards?
Usually he is a Nintendo guy, his audience is likely from another Nintendo games, so not everyone will know about the lizards or the fruit.
He said in the beginning, he didn't want any spoilers or help in the game, he wanted to experience it completely blind.
3:00:15 Fr. I had to take breaks from watching this vod because everyone and their mom thought zelda jokes were the epitome of comedy, and I was getting irrationally angry.
I remember playing Ico when it came out on a second cousin or something and I loved that game. When shadow of the colossus came out I died to the third and couldn't figure out how to beat it without a walkthrough. Proceeded to treat it more like a horse game.
Just riding my horse into the sunset every day after school
I've played this game so many times I've lost count. It's not for everyone, but it's one of my personal favorites. I consider it to be the best artistic game of it's generation
Got handed a copy of my friend's in like 8th grade around the time it came out. Became my all time favorite game for many years after.
Ah yes, the game about a humanoid giraffe riding a equestrian giraffe hunting down a variety of giant giraffes.
This is by far one of my all time favorites and seeing him play it gets me excited
2:16:20 you dont have to thank us for enjoying it!! thank YOU for making great content!
honestly. i got a ps5 for xmas and also got horizon forbidden west on it (there's other games but i play that currently). prior to the ps5, ive only ever played ds/wii/switch/low graphic pc games. i completely understand the initial controller struggle and then the "god, this game is so pretty" almost every 10 minutes. playstation games do be pretty. very pretty
he's never played this game, but he gets these puzzles so FAST
This is my favorite video game of all time. I grew up playing it, and when they remastered it, I fell in love. 10/10 would recommend to anyone and everyone.
3:28:25 I got the joke, and it was hilarious.
I've played this game more times than I can remember, and I still marvel at how beautiful it is every single time. Don't feel bad at all for doing the same. I legit wish I could live there
This was the first game i ever played. This and Ico. It holds a special place in my heart.
Pointcrow, if you see this, I HIGHLY recommend Animorphs. I LOVED that series as a kid. The Andalite Chronicles in particular was great, I read it several times.
Eric having to explain “if he wanted to he would” to his chat is so…. crazy lmao. the fact that chat thought something else is even crazier lmao
3:09:23 If we’re Going to talk about worldbuilding we 100% gotta bring up Warhammer 40,000. It’s world-building Is so rich and emotional I would argue it surpasses even Star-Wars and rivals actual history in its depth (and I have a major in history haha). Just listening to you talk about all the things you love about helldivers and I realized it kind of checked all the boxes haha. I love it. 100%. And just wanted to stop by to share one of my very most favorite things…
I still have my ps2 version of the game when i was a child.
It was my favourite
Hey crow, this is one of my favorite games, so thank you for playing it!
Ever since I played it on ps3 it’s been my favorite game. Crazy to see him play through it.
SotC is genuinely one of my favourite games, the first ever game I completed with a friend (we’d switch every time we died) truly opened my eyes to more open world games
Also first time I’d ever cried after killing a boss
2:58 Joke spoilers, are, in fact, incredibly funny if the person making them is funny. Pointcrow is just being a diva here, but it's his chat I guess.
This game is so good but it makes me cry everytime because u finally realize u killed those poor creatures for no real good reason except to revive ur loved one
Great playthrough!
2:10:28
HE DOESN’T KNOW HOW TO DIVE!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!
( I have played SC before and this is one of my favorite colossi
I wish this game had more diversity in the enemies like a spider or a lion would be cool instead of only giraffes.
Love this game. Never played it, but I watched Jackscepticeye's playthrough of it years ago, and I think it looks absolutely stunning. Just gonna say a few non-spoiler things here.
First: Agro, best honse.
Second: Can't wait for your reactions on all of this.
(Third: It's really hard to not talk about spoiler-y stuff, cus it's just such a good game that it makes you wanna talk about it all day long...)
What a coincidence, I bought myself a PS just to play SotC too, just two months ago!
So happy you enjoyed this game!
I really wish chat would bring up the glowing lizard tails and fruit in tree that gets your stamina and health up, health is not as important but still something to look out for.
What if ,,the forbidden land'' just means a reserve, and we are killing an endangered spiecies of gigant stone/fur creatures?
I kinda hope we get a mini series of just crow fighting each of the colossi lol
As a playstation fan boy my whole life you picked an excellent game to start off with
42:42 _Shadow Of The Giraffes_
To put to this game to word, this game really was ahead of it time. I know many people say it but its true . Many game in the past i play and this was my favorite one so far .
Glad to see you branching out and doing non-Nintendo stuff!
After the altar introduction, those certain words 😢 iykyk
Is it allowed to share chat on screen from multiple streaming sites? Didn't Twitch say something about this? :O
Skimming through this, 4 different random points on the watch bar and he’s in the middle of Field in every one 😂
"Less ad breaks for this Long Video" -my ASS dawg 😭
Feck did the title just say? I've seen this man turn link into a zeppelin and he hasn't suffered this trauma yet. (Confused shaking in the corner)
An ad every 5 min is crazy
Love this game. Love. It's beautiful and cinematic and a work of art.
Since this came out it's been in my top 10 all time
I am actually curious if the colossi in this are what inspired the divine beasts. Similar designs and concepts, except one is living and another is a structure.
