This was incredible! I had no idea color WM Steam footage existed and the music is great!

Yes! I’ve actually got quite a few on my computer. I can’t remember where I found them…I’ve had them for years. There’s also a couple of really good DVD’s of color footage. Check out Allegheny Rails Volumes 1 & 2.

Double-headers, triple-headers, DPUs and pushers; this vid has it all. Thanks!

It’s a really neat video! It must have been made for sales promotion in the early 50’s.

Wow, really good footage, with music I'd swear was from a '50s crime movie. 😀 There's a lot of good shots there, I especially like the pilot of the Challenger moving around. Thanks, Ryan.

Completely agree on the music! It does have some really neat footage. I wish I had more information on who shot the video.

Given the title, I wonder if it was a promo film for sales or something?

    • @ryanexpresstrains8074

@@CassidysWorkshop It had to be. They did another, longer promo in the early 1950's called "Fast Freight Rolling." It was close to 20 minutes long. This had to be a shorter promo for sales.

I agree! Really neat footage. It had to be a promotional video they made in the 50’s.

Thank you! This is just incredible. I wonder if anything was ever videoed on the line down around Bergoo or Webster Springs?

Thanks! I don’t remember where I got it. I’ve had it in my computer files for years.
I’m not sure. I know a lot of the footage from the DVD “Allegheny Rails, Vol. 2” was done by Bill Price. I’m not sure if he (or anyone else) ever got down around Bergoo or Webster Springs with video equipment.

Most of this is W. Price's footage from the Elkins line and a few scenes from the Connellsville line. However, there are a few scenes of H8's in action (I had no idea footage of them in operation existed) and given they rarely ventured north of Elkins, it can be assumed that those scenes were captured from the old GC&E line to Webster Springs.

@@greg_mmm Wow! Thanks for sharing that. I’ve actually got another clip or two of H8s in action…just need to find the file. It’s also W. Price footage. A friend of mine sent them to me years ago. He bought several video clips from a guy who had bought them from the family of Bill Price years ago.

@@ryanexpresstrains8074 That's incredible! From the research I've done, people treat the line to Webster Springs like some kind of fairy tail, and the H8's that operated there like a mythical creature rather than a piece of machinery. Photos pre-dieselization are rare, but film is basically unheard of. What you have may literally be one of a kind, so thank you for sharing it!
