Fun fact: Romanian Zmeu, Slavic Zmej, or Serbian Zmaj (well, Serbian is a Slavic language) is actually a male form of snake (female: Zmija - male: Zmaj), thought in the mythology to be a father of all snakes. It was a long time since I heard thsoe stories, but if my memory serves me well, it has three heads and can fly. Also notorious for tricking knights and stealing princesses. 😂
Idk man im romanian and I have heard "zmeu" used for a craptone of creatures since its not a single creature but more of a term that refers to any monster be it giant, dog like, or even some kind of dragon, it is used since the "english teacher memes" where they have an orgasm from one rhyme or using a lesser known word is basicly 100% with romanian writers and teachers I sugest you read "enciclopedia zmeilor"(enciclopedia=the enciclopedya) it is not a book that holds all monsters to wich the term "zmeu" has been atributed to, not even close, but it gives you the jist of its meaning
@@NoNo-lt9bi most interesting. I stand corrected. Though as a Serbian, I'm sure about zmaj being a male snake. 😄 Even though it's not common knowledge. I found out about it only a few years ago while reading through some very old Serbian tales (and I'm almost 40 now). Although, it's interesting how two words of the two neighboring countries sound so much alike and are used to describe a mythical creature, despite the fact that it's one creature in one case and multiple in another. Thank you for sharing this bit of knowledge.
Love the video! I find it a bit odd that you can have a half blue dragon half stone giant dreamwalker, but I wasn’t the one who wrote the monster manual. When you talked about wanting to implement the character you drew as an npc, I was reminded of a character that I had come up with. In real world history, people with Leprosy would live in isolated leper colonies. They would wear bells to warn travelers not to come too close. In my world, I wanted to say that these leper bells were adopted by healthy society as a sort of musical instrument. These leper bells would be tied to clothing and then the user would dance and stomp to produce different tones in a performance intended to appeal to the eyes and ears alike. That image of a crazed dancer covered in bells made me come up with the idea of a silent humanoid covered in tattered robes. Covering their face would be a bronze mask resembling an owls face. Outside of the necessary adornments such as animal skulls and crystals, silent bells were sewed into the reused cloth. Every time this individual would cast a spell, they would dance in frantic, jerking motions, as if possessed. Their bells would come alive and ring with shrieking noises. After the casting of the spell, the creature continues its silence. Sorry if that’s off topic, but I had to share. Love the video as always!
I would love to see your take on the Duerger In my world Half-Dragons have “Polluted” the Dragonborn genetic structure, thanks to constant interbreeding Dragonborn have no consistency with how they look, some have hair, other have tails while others don’t, some even have human shaped teeth, others have pointed ears while their heads now come to a verity of shapes.
Had to evacuate due to wildfire threat. City was later declared safe to return to. I settled down, took a little time to myself to relax.. drunk driver hits my house and power has to be shut off for safety reasons. Now I’m able to finally just sit down in the car, charge my phone.. and watch your content which genuinely makes all the chaos this week not so bad.
i've been watching the monster mondays since some time now, i've been really enjoying it, im not one that comments a lot, but after since it seems like you want suggestions, ima go ahead i'm really fond of the oblex and the neothelid, both mindflayer related, the former is a memory eating ooze while the latter is a mindflayer tadpole that was left to its own. the oblex is in mordenkainen's tome of foes, while the neothelid is in volo's guide to monsters and again, i've been really enjoying monster mondays, it's really well made and covers a lot of info, even outside of dnd, which i really enjoy, since i've found real world mythologies always fascinating
For my DMing’s I came up with a half Dragon Githyanki mage and priest of Tiamat an attempt at the perfect warrior I haven’t actually got the chance to reveal her yet but I plan on making her a recurring villain P.S. Your videos have always inspired me to create interesting Uses for all of these creatures I never would have thought of most of my ideas if I hadn’t found your channel
If I were to make a suggestion of a monster, I'd probably go for the Roper/Piercer of the Underdark. I've never fought one myself but the idea that any misshapen rock could have tentacles that will drag me toward a gaping maw to slowly and painfully be torn asunder has truly terrified me of the underdark's hidden life. Other creatures I'd love to see your take on is the Sea Spawn, some poor lad that was beckoned to a life in servitude to some big fish beneath the sea. The Quaggoth are quite intriguing in their backstory of having been mayhaps the original inhabitants of the Underdark, only to be forced under the heel of the psionic and magical races forced into their old kingdom.
If I were to make a half dragon, the first one might be a player character that has a half dragon, Half dryad heritage. I had this idea where after the mother gave birth (Or lay the egg) to/of their child, the mother would be have been forced to flee from her local town because they would see another human birthing an egg as something monstrous and look to kill them and the egg out of fear of what would come out of it when it hatched. The mother would die protecting her child and it would be left to hatch after its mother had died with her arms wrapped around the egg. After hatching, I kinda thought to give the half dragon either a silver or gold dragon heritage (Preferably gold for their good alignment) and they would discover their mothers body around their egg and take whatever jewelry their mother had, (Since dragons tend to be really damn greedy. Afterwards the half dragon babe would wander around, get into a few fights that it wins and loses, eats a crap ton and soon finds a tree that fits it and bonds with it. ( I am going with the knowledge that dryads bond with trees, not sure if that is accurate to dnd) However the tree would be something extremely special, a one in a million chance of finding kind of thing. It would then bond with it and gain some special abilities pertaining to both her heritages and in the end would become a sort of waiting character if I decided to turn her into an npc instead. Though due to her draconic heritage she would age slowly. By the time anybody found her, she would likely look at like like a preteen girl. I just want to figure out how i would make her look.
Yess! My longest run PC is a half dragon. Shes sadly a little dead right now, hopefully will fix that soon. Love the art, as always. I've been looking into the underdark a lot lately, have hook horrors been suggested yet? (Probably lol) keep up the great work. Edit because I just realized you mentioned Zmei, which is what my characters barbadian subclass is based on, so this is like an early birthday present ❤🐉

My current game has a white dragon under the influence of a green dragon. She's taught him how to use his blood to create "servant" white half-dragons. Manipulated as a distraction meant to gather the attention of a local lord.
Ever heard of Ogrima? This 2nd edition monster species was an result of crossbreeding with oni & ogre, later developing into an seperate species. Think of an one horned oni that prefers either sowrd or bow over club or halberd. Plus more ogre-like face, if I understood the depiction correctly.
The Greek gods and in their mythology in general "let's just kidnap me a wife" seems disturbingly common. They ruin people most of the time. Also incest. A lot of incest! I mean, most of the greek gods are siblings... and married to each other or each others children. I almost understand why Zeus was a serial adulter, since the alternative was his jealous sisterwife. I'd look for lovers outside of my marriage in that case too!
@@probablythedm1669 The likely answer there might be that in some Ancient Greek cultures "stealing" a bride from her household might have been a religious practice. More than likely it isn't actual kidnapping, but that you would be betrothed and it was a right of passage that you had to get her out of her household undiscovered.
I've been looking at pathfinder templates and have fallen in love with that of the Grave Knight, a similar, but very different in flavor, than the Death Knight. It seems to be more of an accident than something one can undertake, and the thing that houses their soul is their armor instead of the Death Knight's weapon.
I never thought of Dragonborn having scale colors outside of the ones provided for 5e dragons, but now that you mentioned that I think I might try and incorporate that into how they work in my world. In regards to half-dragons, I apply the template to my world’s krakens, who are the cursed offspring of the queen of dragons. At the time of my campaign only 1 kraken is left alive but I think the ones before it would’ve had variations on the kraken’s storm ability based on their breath weapon (so a fire breather could have summoned a cloud of broiling steam instead). Keep up the great work and considering today’s topic may I suggest dragon turtles?
Were do you get your background? Also excellent art as always! I like that you went with a more human like face kind of remind me of a spellscale. Keep it up!👍 Also could you add to your list Crysmals and Azers?
I just saw a Killmoulis for the first time and it's so cute/interesting! I'd love to hear your take on one. They might come up with some clever way to figure it out right away).

Still recommending the Mishipeshu or underwater panther or great Lynx. Native american feline like water drake/dragon. Which is a large chaotic neutral monstrosity that can call down lightning and hail
You do not have to be a half dragon by having a dragon ancestor. I believe it is started somewhere will go through notes that such things can happen through various activities such as bathing in a living/dying dragons blood. This is how two of my players became them in my campaign.
I always took the weirder half-dragons (like the afore mentiones half dragon owlbear) to be the result of expirementation, in fact in my campaign draconic bloodline sorcerers are descended from giants not dragons because the giants attempted to create giant soldiers with draconic power in the war and because most half dragons are sterile while we know giants can have fertile offspring with non giant races which is where some of the giant kin come from.
I had an interesting character that turned up in a dungeon dragons game of mine that was a dragonkin that was sired by one of the avatars of the dragon queen to try to bring about the end of the world to act as an intermediary while she was still in a avernus guarding the gate this offspring would go across the world springing up a cult of personality roping inother established dragon courts to try to bring her back onto the prime material plane and yes it was a homebrew redoing of the core rise of tiamat
