    Big news! I got my self a nice little lathe for my future projects and I'm really happy so far using it. It's the Optimum TU2004V. I wanted a simple first project to make with it, so I made an angle attachment for my Dremel tool. The reason is because it's really much more comfortable holding it with one hand and not having to twist your arm. Of course, you can buy the off the shelf angle attachment that dremel offers but at a much higher price. This build was made with bits and parts that I had laying around and it didn't cost more than $4.

Great job on both your end results, and your easy to understand (especially with only a few written words, and NO audio descriptions) video editing. Maybe one of these days...just maybe! Just an FYI but instead of using a permanent marker, for machinist use they typically use "Layout Fluid" look it up on amazon, most all the results are relevant.

    What did the bevel gears come from?

  • @JamesNewton
    @JamesNewton 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'm not sure what to call this part... the output "tube"? The last part on the tool you made... it holds the tools like the disk or drum or whatever. When you put that on, it seems like it went on a little too easy... like it would perhaps slip under load. Right at the end of the video, I saw that you had cut a notch in that tube over the area where it would slip onto the output shaft. Was that done to tighten the connection? If so, I'd really like to understand the technique, as things slipping is a problem I encounter often.

    • @johnnyq90
      @johnnyq90  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +James Newton Normally it sticks to the rubber that the handpiece has on its surface, but for some reason I didn't push it far enough to grab the rubber and then lock it in place with the wrench...

    • @JamesNewton
      @JamesNewton 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +johnnyq90 So what was the purpose of the cut? Ah... Was that so you could put the wrench around it?

    How do you make sure the dremel is parallel to the lathe axis of rotation for facing? I see your custom mounting ring. My trouble is with drills and rotary tools with irregular bodies, I can't just align off the plastic body with funny shapes and the shaft is too short to check with a square.
    Thanks for the awesome videos!

    • @johnnyq90
      @johnnyq90  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I put a steel shaft to the chuck of the rotary tool. Then I get the tool with the shaft that is attached to it close to the side of the chuck of the lathe until it touches it with its full length. At this point it is parallel to the rotating axis of the lathe's chuck.

    hi, is this angle attachment able to deliver all te power of the dremel to the tool you are using? coud this work for a motor for R/C cars for example if I get a way to adapt it to work or I could loose power?

    • @johnnyq90
