Dear ShaolinCenter I would like to point out that i find your footwork alarmingly wrong. In bagua circlewalking weight is always placed on the rear leg and never on the front one, as you do at 1:42. Unfortunately it is just one of many examples throughout the clip. Footwork is the essential part of Baguazhang, as you might know the master of Bagua- Dong Haichuan learned footwork ONLY during his first two years of training. If you want to achieve real skill please consider returning to basics.
finally somebody said... i find his enthusiasm nice though...
Love this comment, no name calling, no insults just positive constructive observation, the world needs more people like you
There are many ways of stepping. I'm sure yours is great as well!
:) Thanks, it's a beautiful place!
Thank you so much!
Thank you!
Maybe. The last thing I would do would be to fight back! I would walk away!
What a great spot to practice some ba gua!!! Great vid Jake! Glad you are back! Your honeymoon looked fantastic!
airbending!
this was not ba gua, more shitbending )
Sure! It's royalty free music from imovie. This one is called "Half Moon Bay"
This is certainly very far from baguazhang of ANY style! Even a blind man can see it, just look up other videos concerning bagua, you will never find such embarrasing footwork
Hua Shan has 5 peaks and resembles a lotus flower from above!
Keep up the good work ;)
I love your videos BTW :D
i am happy that you make these video`s
for people that cant go to china can see how it is there
Hey,I want to ask sth
Shoul u be sliding your feet?
I am studying bagua and I see that other videos always say that if u don't slide your feet then it's not bagua
I think it is fine, if you dislike his Bagua so much, think about this: his detailed description of the Tao Lu and his clear demonstration of how each movement works is something that few, if any other videos do. Those seeking to learn can go elsewhere for all the internal skill, if it is really as you say, but here they can learn the tao lu.
it really looks more like movements done for health than fighting.i do like the exaggerated expansion of the moves as a kind of alternative
.it is the jiang rao lineage of jerry alan johson done in a kind of large frame tai chi way.
It comes and goes! In the city there a constant smog fog!
I did, thanks!
Is section 1 supposed to be the first palm? Because I don't recognize it!
Yes!
Where do you buy your drugs?
Nice! China can be expensive to travel to, but the country is relatively cheap once you're there!
Thanks Man! Let's do lunch! Are you still "fighting for peace"???
nice treat in the end! much appreciated
Thanks for watching and commenting!
Well put! You are a scholar and a gentleman.
Cool. My school's website is PhoenixLongevityArts . com
If you'd ever like to come by and take a class or a month you are more than welcome!
:) you are very observant!
nice, i've seen this move many times in the movies, now only I know its Bagua. thx
there are some things that you're good at, for example your stances are pretty good (for shaolin wushu) but my advice to you would be: Work more on the internal principles than on the techniques. the relaxation, the back/neck/knee alignments, the six harmonies, ... those are way more important than the taolu. I hope this truly helps, I see you are very motivated and love kung fu...
Don't look down at your feet when you are walking the circle
Where did you buy that pants at? I really like it and I like your martial arts videos.
looks so nice to do kung fu in the mountains, wonderful. and the mountains are beautiful
Hey bro mace, wat is the difference between Baqua, Taichi, and Xinyi
Plz lmk your opinions and differences
I will try it.
Art of War says: it's recommended that an excellent fighter avoids get into a fight, winning comes by not getting into a fight and convinces the enemy to submit to a peaceful solution is the best method.
the inner foot is supposed to go straight.....
There are 8 primary trigrams, not 6, as you suggest in your stepping.
hey jake do u know jeet kune do
No. It's you imitating the gross external movements of Bagua using structure and movement drawn from western dance. Fail.
Your "code name" is perfect since your mind (and soul) is clearly a blank slate. Someday maybe you'll learn something and something of value will show up on it.
Why do people get so fascist about this stuff? Different teachers teach differently and then people say everything that other teachers do is not the genuine article. It's so tiresome.
But as an instructional video for beginners, I have to tell you that you go WAY too fast. You need to break it down, move more slowly, gesture by gesture, and leave out the poetic descriptions until later since they aren't intuitive reminders for the Western mind, even though they are beautiful metaphors.
Hi, I am a Brazilian, do karate style Goju Ryu Seigokan but found academia to Bagua, or any teacher, and I do not understand, this is like a kata Bagua? and how this sequence is done, the second follows the first, as it would help me please.
I watch this so much.. I want to learn Bagua.
+Timothy Kelly this is not real bagua he doesnt even do the principal of the bagua... dont rely on him for learning stuff
is it always foggy out there ?
We call it Fundamental or Classical Ba Gua!
I'll train this routine thank sifu
as it happens, iI live and teach in tempe, id be more than haopy to show you what i mean. safe travels, and i hope to hear from ya...
what style of Bagua is this?
thank you for doing this shondi without a reference i have gotten sloppy
hacked by shondi Joshua Smith
The Chinese words 华山论剑 on the stone complement this video very well
I did learn actual Ba Gua. This is Ba Gua!
pretty video. i gotta say, though that you might seek out bagua from a taoist source rather than buddhist, cause bagua is taoist. d train. I respect your attitude and your sincere, but your step is not rightt, you have a lot more you could get out of your step. best of training...
what's the different of Ba Gua and Tai chi ?
太极生两仪,两仪生四象,四象生八卦
if got Ba Gua style , would it got Liang YI style ?
Taiji has many meanings, the chief of which are:
circle----movements are circular
yin and yang, opposites----when one palm is facing up, the other is facing down, when one leg has more weight, the other has less.
Bagua also means a circle, but this circle of the leg movements is larger than that of Taiji; the hand movements also, larger amplitude.
.........................
Jesus that's the worst bagua I've ever seen, regardless of where this was filmed.
It's not my art nor do I claim to teach it. Jake Mace is a Shaolin-Do fraud. There is a Yin bagua study group in Tempe that teaches legitimate baguazhang.
+Matthew Parsons a bit late but in bagua you dont have to overextend the arm it's the worst thing that you can do, always elbow down, shoulders relaxed and arm pulled and the hand has to be a bit over your eyes
Yup, we practice a Cheng variant in my school but I focus on the xingyi.
hey man
I cant wait to study Wudang Kung Fu at the academy
Airbending anybody?
great, please disregard my yesterday`s comment (about not finding learn section 1), I,ve been training in Pa Kua Academy here in Brazil for only 4 months, just earned my yellow "belt" , but still miss some movement training and meditation...will start today
could not imagine better place for your video, thanks again
your wasting your time, hes an internet fraud, kung fu sharleton,he will be calling himself master within the year, hes a joke, nothing internal,he would be suited to wing chun or karate
Broken Monkey ! Broken spelling ! Broken grammar !
Unqualified to comment !
sans evidence !
Ba Gua looks super fun :D
I train Yin Fu BaguaQuan and we have a prayer stance that is basically a horse stance. It's not as wide but the similarity is there. I believe most Martial Arts include that stance in one form or another, even if it is just a transitional movement.
Maybe BaguaZhang doesn't have a horse stance but I would press you to prove that.
he uses the word internal but has no grasp of it,he has no peng,no alignment, nothing, you can see how tense he is,it annoys me as folk believe this idiots crap.
Im aang
Who came here to learn airbending
Air really bends according to New Physics. Study it first.
Your mud walking needs a little work. thank you.
Seems you've have doing too much drug.
there is a word in a stone "華山論剑"
Not a nice thing to say. A true kung fu practioner would NEVER say what you said. You still have a long way to find yourself from within. Peace.
Probably the worst bagua I have ever seen. No bagua principles at all, no internal development possible from doing these movements. Completely made up and is essentially just a performance dance.
This is not Bagua, at all. He breaks every principle of the art, which indicates that he has never studied the art.
Bagua is an art built on principles.
There are many ways of stepping. I'm sure yours is great as well!
Maybe. The last thing I would do would be to fight back! I would walk away!
You mean when others attack you (in words), you would walk away and would fight back only as the last resort? Great! That's the essence of Kungfu.
Thanks for watching and commenting!
We call it Fundamental or Classical Ba Gua!
What style of Bagua is this?
