    Dear ShaolinCenter I would like to point out that i find your footwork alarmingly wrong. In bagua circlewalking weight is always placed on the rear leg and never on the front one, as you do at 1:42. Unfortunately it is just one of many examples throughout the clip. Footwork is the essential part of Baguazhang, as you might know the master of Bagua- Dong Haichuan learned footwork ONLY during his first two years of training. If you want to achieve real skill please consider returning to basics.

    This is certainly very far from baguazhang of ANY style! Even a blind man can see it, just look up other videos concerning bagua, you will never find such embarrasing footwork

    I think it is fine, if you dislike his Bagua so much, think about this: his detailed description of the Tao Lu and his clear demonstration of how each movement works is something that few, if any other videos do. Those seeking to learn can go elsewhere for all the internal skill, if it is really as you say, but here they can learn the tao lu.

    it really looks more like movements done for health than fighting.i do like the exaggerated expansion of the moves as a kind of alternative
    .it is the jiang rao lineage of jerry alan johson done in a kind of large frame tai chi way.

    there are some things that you're good at, for example your stances are pretty good (for shaolin wushu) but my advice to you would be: Work more on the internal principles than on the techniques. the relaxation, the back/neck/knee alignments, the six harmonies, ... those are way more important than the taolu. I hope this truly helps, I see you are very motivated and love kung fu...

    Your "code name" is perfect since your mind (and soul) is clearly a blank slate. Someday maybe you'll learn something and something of value will show up on it.

  • @charda01
    @charda01 11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Why do people get so fascist about this stuff? Different teachers teach differently and then people say everything that other teachers do is not the genuine article. It's so tiresome.
    But as an instructional video for beginners, I have to tell you that you go WAY too fast. You need to break it down, move more slowly, gesture by gesture, and leave out the poetic descriptions until later since they aren't intuitive reminders for the Western mind, even though they are beautiful metaphors.

    pretty video. i gotta say, though that you might seek out bagua from a taoist source rather than buddhist, cause bagua is taoist. d train. I respect your attitude and your sincere, but your step is not rightt, you have a lot more you could get out of your step. best of training...

    what's the different of Ba Gua and Tai chi ?
    太极生两仪,两仪生四象,四象生八卦
    if got Ba Gua style , would it got Liang YI style ?

    • @yymjyyobjka1302
      @yymjyyobjka1302 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Taiji has many meanings, the chief of which are:
      circle----movements are circular
      yin and yang, opposites----when one palm is facing up, the other is facing down, when one leg has more weight, the other has less.
      Bagua also means a circle, but this circle of the leg movements is larger than that of Taiji; the hand movements also, larger amplitude.
      .........................

      It's not my art nor do I claim to teach it. Jake Mace is a Shaolin-Do fraud. There is a Yin bagua study group in Tempe that teaches legitimate baguazhang.

    • @Rubik3141
      @Rubik3141 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Matthew Parsons a bit late but in bagua you dont have to overextend the arm it's the worst thing that you can do, always elbow down, shoulders relaxed and arm pulled and the hand has to be a bit over your eyes

    I train Yin Fu BaguaQuan and we have a prayer stance that is basically a horse stance. It's not as wide but the similarity is there. I believe most Martial Arts include that stance in one form or another, even if it is just a transitional movement.
    Maybe BaguaZhang doesn't have a horse stance but I would press you to prove that.
