    Great video! But what if the camera is moving?

    Serge! I'm producing a natural history video for a museum in the desert near Phoenix. I have several great shots with dull, grey skies. I put this to use and the finished 1st attempt looks great! Very natural. Thanks so much!!! Subbed

    great video, however I am trying to combine two night timlapses and this makes it so adjusting the lumar keyer to the settings that you did is practically impossible. Is there a way to manually draw a mask like that?

    Thanks Serge! I was trying to figure out how to do this...turns out the Luma Keyer was the key piece of the puzzle.

    Hi Serge, great video! I have a question: how do you match the replaced sky is the video if the base clip underneath is moving? That clip has birds and horizon line that are moving because it is hand held. I understand replicating the bottom clip and adding luma keyer to maintain the colors once used the graduated mask on the sky, but I have tried adding the tracker to the first clip( the bottom one), calling it "Sky Track" then applying that track to the sky, and the sky moves around like crazy, changing shapes. I've tried to track the horizon many times, but it won't work because it moves. Sometimes it follows the bird, and sometimes if I select a smaller portion on the horizon, it just moves around like crazy. Any advice? Thank you :)

    Great tutorial and I learned a lit. However shouldn’t the replaced sky also reflect on the water? Lower opacity and more blurry reflection?

    Can you tell me, or made another tutorial, showing how to keying another color, instead of green or blue?
    I've tried replace the RED color of a footage by the video in background, but the result was terrible ... fcp had also replaced the blue color by the video in background....

    I would be curious of what you think of copying files into FCPX library vs setting up your own file structure and linking files. what are the pros and cons? when should you do each? maybe a good video topic?

    • @Serge1913
      @Serge1913  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That would be a great topic. I will add it to my list of videos to make. Thanks for the suggestion

    Hi! Since your one of the few guys out there that I think may know the answer to this question here goes.... I have an old GL2 Canon video camcorder. I am trying to download some of the tape footage into FCP X but having no luck. Really, I want to see if its even worth shooting anything in the future with this camcorder. It is an NTSC and I'm wondering if it will convert to at least 1080P. I hope this all makes sense and you have a solution for me. I paid a big chunk of change for this camcorder all be it several years back. Any thoughts and ideas would be appreciated! Thank you again for the great teaching videos. I've passed on your channel to others that I think can benefit from your lessons. Cheers!

      Thanks for sharing my videos Melanie. As far as you camcorder goes, it is a bit outdated, and converting SD footage to HD, your results will not be very good. I would recommend recording with an HD camera. Even the cameras on the newer phones will give you better results

    • @Melanie-Heinrich-Photographer
      @Melanie-Heinrich-Photographer 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was afraid you would confirm my suspicions about the camcorder. Sad really the lens is amazing. (I'll stick with my iPhone) I add the old camcorder to my antiquated selection of equipment. I collect camera antiques, many of which I have used as a pro shooter. (stills)
      Thanks again for the great videos! I am planning on an evening of crash course learning watching your videos. I made a documentary (2005) using a very old version of FCP but the new version is completely different so you have helped me immensely! Again, Grateful!

    Serge, Any tips for dark or black colors in your video that have too much "static" on them?

    • @Serge1913
      @Serge1913  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s a recording issue, specifically the ISO levels. You could try a de-noising plugin

    Not to rain on your parade, but I think I like the before version better. The clouds should have been reflected in the water in the after version.
