    Commentators acted surprised at the final 400 (52sec). Duh, what exactly did they expect? The only thing that would make this race more interesting is if they just keep on jogging right through to the finish. I mean think about it: If a few of the 8 finalists clearly have superior 400 speed then of course their best strategy is a pedestrian pace early on. But that's not what we see in most of these races from 1,500 on up. What we see is ALL of them employing that same strategy, which is mind boggling. Not a single one of them had the presence of mind to think "uuhhmm, I'm going to be out kicked if this keeps up. so I better GO NOW"

    I am not surprised that Lewandowski is succeeding at 1,500 meters. The Poles to overdo everything they do. This means that the approach to his 800-meter training must have been heavy on long distance runs. This, in turn, translated into great 1,500's.

    These guys are still basking in the glow of the great milers between Banister and El. Today there's no excitement. When they decided to jog the first lap, and yes, 68 is jogging, the announcer should say, "These men are supposed to be running a 1500, they're not, so we are now going to the men's javelin..." Do that a couple times and this BS will end, and we can get back to the glory of the mile.

    25 seconds slower than World Record (approximately)!!! What a shame!! People call this competitons as "tactical race". Tactical race is when they do 3'40"!!! In this world Cup no matters times. Only it counts the positions and they gives X points for the 1st one, Y points for the 2nd one and so on. I think the only solution could save this awful races is to copy Decathlon competitions when you receive points according to your mark, time, height, throwing measurement, etc...

      This is a team competition. You have to be good in very many sports not only running. Countries good only at running did not perticipate, they'd get slaughtered in the standings. This thing was won by USA, the second was Poland, the third - UK.

    • @cristianizzini-enduranceat6505
      @cristianizzini-enduranceat6505 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @Sanderus
      @Sanderus 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This competitions were indeed pretty similar to decathlon but rather than individual athletes, the countries competed. So to participate in this competition and not to embarass oneself a given country needed to have a wide range of athletes to cover all discipines. This is my guess why countries who excel for instance at running but do not have decent enough athletes in other fields did not participate. It was like asking Usain Bolt to take part in Decathlon. He'd obliterate everyone at running but in other disciplines - well, not so much to say the least. :D

    and this is why they are called champions until an East African takes part in the race and they find themselves at the last ends.....keep jogging, we shall meet in more competitive races

    Theres no fire here, we have lost the art of racing tough, more like a slow tactical show. El G is king!!!

    Why are these runners nowadays shaving their arm pits? It's not like swimmers who are trying to minimize drag. I'm afraid it's a rather effeminate new trend, unfortunately!

      It's easier said than done, he did say the french was 8th at his national championships, maybe he doesn't have a ton of experience in events such as this

    and the name of the person that won it GIRLY is just how they ran. A HIGH SCHOOL GIRL could have bean them most of the race. Hell calling it a race of 1500 is ridiculous. it was only a race of sorts for 150. And 52 sec for these guys is so slow its not funny.

    Horrible first 800m. This sucks. Tactical 1500m races suck.
