Why would you mastic the interliner of the flex ductwork. I’ve done multiple houses with no leaks. If you mastic the tab collar correctly there is no need to tape your collar either. It will pass a test everytime with no problems. Huge waste of time.

I had a retrofit on a new construction for an A/C add-on, and the property had a massive grade in the middle. The house didn’t have a ladder for the crawl access which was located inside, so we had to use an 8’ ladder. The furnace was in a closet. My dream came true and abruptly ended once that job was done.
In my home in California I just found out that they never ran duct work from the unit to the return air vent in my house,they just used the walls as the return air side. So this will help me do it myself

No tape on collars? I usually tape the collar down, put some 181 on the collar base and neck, slip the core over, and then more 181 on the outside, before pulling the rolled insulation and outer layer over and tieing it in, more tape, more mastic, and down here in FL we usually spring for the pre-insulated boots.
I guess don’t come to Phoenix AZ lol. That’s a very nice job for here. I don’t think a screw hole with a screw in it will leak much air. And it could always be sealed up too.
I am a robot. I use mastic on all ducts. I do heating and air then talk like a robot on TH-cam.

All the sealing and the f'in furnace is installed with hanger strap and sheet metal screws into the casing.. butchered

ya in a warmer region, up the flex to the next higher size or whatever size compare to rigid duct to have same air flow capacity
Hard pipe will always be better. Lazy companies use it, now there are places for it but are rarely designed right
