  • Georgina takes on the 30 mile Peak Skyline trail ultra in the Peak District, UK. Whilst Georgina focuses on chasing the cut-offs, Steve captures race footage across the course, whatever the weather!
The Peak Skyline starts and finishes in Buxton and takes in Solomon's Temple, Axe Edge, Three Shires Head, Ramshaw Rocks, Hen Cloud, The Roaches, Gradbach, Shutlingsloe (the Peak District Matterhorn!), Wildboar Clough, The Cat & Fiddle, Shining Tor, Goyt Valley and Burbage. A great trail run to enjoy some fantastic Peak District scenery.
The 2021 event took place on 7th August. Alongside the 30 mile ultra with its 8hr time limit, the event also features a slightly more relaxed 15.5 mile half with a 7hr time limit. Find out more at: www.peakskylin...

Loved watching this, I ran that day and it was not an easy race, caught myself in the start and at one of the check points, watching this took me back to that day.

Thanks Ed. Glad you spotted yourself. Hope the memories are good overall. I thought it was an interesting route although I'd have probably enjoyed it more with a little less pressure on the cut offs. I know the organiser wants to ensure people think it through before choosing the long course but it could be a nice first ultra route for people if there was a little more flexibility. All the best, Georgina

Well done! Great running, but also a video that really does justice to the run and the course.

Well done! How were the aid stations? What did they provide anything other than water? And how spaced out were they (e.g. 10 km apart)?

Thanks! The first aid station was after about 17km, then the next two about 10km apart. The aid stations were well stocked with the usual things we see at UK trail races such as coke, water, bananas, biscuits, crisps, jelly sweets, etc. I thought cheese and grapes were a bit more unusual! I found I liked the grapes but the cheese was a bit hard to get the wrapper off. I didn't eat that much from the aid stations as I carried too much of my own food as normal.
