    Gents- terrific videography and editing; much enjoyed. I annually spend 60- 75 days in Alaska fishing, including fishing for halibut. There appear to be many similarities in our approaches to catching them. I am curious about the rods, reels and baits you use- they seem different than the things we use. Also, the water, bottom and tidal conditions you seek would be interesting as well. Again, fantastic video. Continued success 👍

      @camphalibut7894  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you mate! That is of course i hard couple of questions to sum up in a comment. We hope to get going with some more informational videos this year. What I can say about the rods is that they are accually quite different from what people use over here aswell. These are hand built rods on all American Tackle components. They vary a little depending on the method for the situation but the most important thing is that they have a super deep action. I think the rest must be sum up in a video or an email or something. Feel free to send us an email and we can discuss it further if you want :)

One baitfish rod and one Jigging rod that we think is by far the best rods on the market.They will be available for purchase at the camp on Soroya.

      They are not suitable for eating. The meat is dry and rough. They are much more valuable in the water where they can reproduce and grow much bigger. Killing the big breeding females is the most stupid thing you can do no matter what species you target. The oceans around the world would be in much better shape if people understood this..

    I can't believe they are doing catch and release with halibut!
    I understand catch and release with certain species of fish but not halibut. I don't mean to sound judgmental but this whole thing sounds pretty arrogant to me.
    This last fish they caught would produce 176 lb of fillets. That's 352 meals. Me? I can't afford to buy halibut. It seems to me they should put more value on a family in need than on a fish.
    Actually, go ahead and get mad at me if you want I think this is the height of arrogance.

    • @camphalibut7894
      @camphalibut7894  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Most people over the world buy into your argument and that is why the seas are being emptied. 90% of all fish over 50cm is already gone world wide. You can take from the interest but if you start withdrawing from the capital, it is going to drop. People are overexploiting nature and especially fish populations all over the world. There are way too few big halibut compared to the small ones. Commercial fishermen are harvesting the big females, the foundation of the population, and we are not going to take part in that. Don't get me wrong, we take smaller fish and eat our fair share of halibut. But the big females are so utterly important for future populations so we handle and release them with great care. We want to be fishing on a rising population in a sustainable way. We want to be part of the solution and not the problem. That is not arrogance. It is just common sense and respect for the resource we base our business on. /Daniel Camp Halibut
