    To anyone asking about the Epixon fork from SR Suntour- I recently purchased one for my 2014 Trek X Caliber and it’s fantastic! Straight steerer option, light weight, lock out/dampening , rebound, and air. Also SR Suntour offers a discount with their upgrade program. Highly recommend the Epixon!

    Just got these forks, upgrading froma basically stiff old sr suntour raidon coil fork, the sticktion was strong with that one. These rst first air forks are Savage! It feels like a brand new bike. They're quite responsive and feel pretty similar to my buddies rockshox. Very plush indeed, it's like cycling a cloud.

      @@WoW-ts1gk fantastic, I've be using float fluid to keep them fluid and been cleaning out the gunk from around the seals before every ride, I've mine with less travel, about 70mm but that's all I need and it's quite nice. And I've been using them on a fairly heavy ebike with about 10,000km on them so far🙂 the float fluid from chain reaction is a must though. I'm on my second tube of it so despite the size it lasts ages.

    i've had this fork on a hardtail for about 2 years now and I never did a service or anything just as a pure test. the air seals finally blew and boy i must say i was properly impressed with this fork. i put it from hard riding to just normal trail rides and jumps, rock gardens, drops, stair cases, pretty much everything. for the price this is a killer fork.

    Suntour's budget air forks (Raidon and up) use the same internals as their top of the line AXON WERX fork just with cheaper dampers and heavier components. They would have the same feeling if you just changed the damper to the AXON damper which is cross-compatable for all their 32mm forks.

    I have been using RST F1ST forks on my 29er hardtail for about a year now, although not offroad, still plenty of gutter drops and rough surfaces and I think its fine. Mine suffers a little stiction (not enough to bother me), however I don't ride it every week so I think it will get better over time. Actually I notice it more when I just compress the fork when I am stationary than when I have my fat ass weight on it riding around. It still seems quite plush compared to the Rockshox TK30 on my 26er. I never feel the need to upgrade for my style of undemanding riding.

  • @Steve30x
    @Steve30x 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    About the stiction on the fork. GMBN has a video on TH-cam showing how to service your fork. One of their videos show how to reduce dyiction by using grease. You need to remove the silver piece on the rubber seal and gently pull back a piece of the rubber seal slightly , then put a few drops of fork suspension grease down into where the rubber seal is.

      Completely agree, silicon lube is an absolute 'must have' if you take care of your fork. I apply it before each ride, press my fork for few times and clean dirt and dust, which then appears on legs from stancheon's rubber seals. Another way it is hard enough to get this dirt from there when you routinely clean your bike.

    Okay so I baught my bike with this fork on it and at the time the fork was really supple and I really enjoyed it..but it was not 3 months later when the damper on the fork and all the seals just totally got shredded..since I am in South Africa there was no spares for me and I had to buy a brand new fork for my bike..
    So in short the F1rst is a great fork but it certainly has reliability issues and spares for the fork is very scares..

    Been using this fork for 2years without service, I have the version with no remote but it has the ocr damping. This fork is good for small bumps and even in a more technical trail, the lockout works perfect, it totally locks unlike my epixon that it still moves a little bit. I can also notice the sticktion, but while you are riding you can barely notice it, for me this is better than the markhor especially with a more technical trail because the markhor bottoms out easily than the rst f1rst. Ride safe👌🏽

In the Platinum-series the hydraulic-damping unit is screwed onto the bottom of the right stanchion - if this screw is too tight the sticktion occurs.

    It went together easily in less than an hour. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Make sure the front fork is forward or the pedals will hit the front tire. Tires are both a little soft so it needs air before I ride it. The rear wheel didn't come with a clamp regular bolts hold it on. The front had the clamp. No scratches out of box. Rims are a little off with a slight wobble. They could have spent more time with the spoke tool fixing the run out. So far out of the box I'm happy with it. I did replace the pedals with a nice aftermarket set. After riding it a bit my A$$ is a bit sore so I ordered another seat. Overall I'm nearly 60 and didn't ride a bike in 30 years. I like my new 29" Schwinn. It will be used for casual rides with my friend.
