  • This is an electric power pod that I made for my radio controlled sailplanes, the idea was to be able to interchange it with all my gliders, hope you like it.

    Omg! Thank you so much for this awesome video. I’ve been trying to figure out how I was going to build one of these because they want to charge like 60 or $70 for one and that’s ridiculous I can build one for under $10 thank you again.

      What are the odds that you could give me the drawings so I could build this for my sophisticated lady.

    Thanks for your comments! the motor it´s a Turnigy Aerodrive C3530-1700. The ESC it´s also a Turnigy Plush - 30A (all from Hobby King). The propeller it´s a Aeronaut 9X5 folding prop (from Hobby Lobby, it comes with the spinner), modified with stops to prevent it from hitting the pod.
    If you would like a plan just send me your e-mail and I can send you a copy.
    Happy Landings!

    You bet helicopters are expensive! I fly a Trex 500 and had crashed 3 times since I started to fly it two years ago, but each crash it´s around $ 200! Gliders are fun, relaxing and a challenge to keep them flying with out power, specially when thermal flying.
    Helicopters can be stressing specially when flying 3D!

    Hi and thanks for this vid - I am using a design based on yours to add power to my Gentle Lady without cutting it up. Could you give us more details of how you added the stops that prevent the prop from hitting the pod? Surely a Cam folder shouldn't hit the pod anyway? Thanks again and all the best :)

      Thanks for your comments, I added the stops by drilling with a Dremel mototool and inserting a small piece of piano wire in each blade, this is a regular folding puller prop designed to ¨pull¨ the airplane so when you start the motor nothing is in front of it but not the same in this scenario. The stops must allow the prop to open up a little more than it´s needed so they actually work only when you start the motor, less than a second later the prop is working normally and the stops should not be working at all and that way you make sure that the prop is flat.

      Thanks again - I checked the vid carefully and can see the bits of wire inserted into the blade roots - good solution! I think I might use some small diameter CF rods but will do the same - Cheers! :-)

    Hola Alejandro. Enrique Amaya de Chihuahua... podrias sugerirme especificaciones de motor , esc y baterias para un Gentle Lady y un BOT? soy neófito en esta área. mil gracias excelente video.

      Hola Enrique, el motor es un Turnigy Aerodrive C5330-1700 que puedes conseguir en Hobbyking. El ESC para controlar el motor es uns PLUSH-30A también de Hobbyking y la hélice es una 9x5¨de Aeronaut que se retracta al parar el motor para que así no tenga mucho drag el planeador. Gracias por tu comentarios.

      @@enriqueamayaneudert4651 Todo depende del peso del planeador, este motor y pod estan diseñados para planeadores livianos de entre 60 y 100 pulgadas de envergadura.

    How did you route the wiring, did you go through the wings? I don't see any in all your pics of the gentle Lady, Sophisticated Lady or Bobcat.

    • @rolagzz20
      @rolagzz20  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Paul Masterson Yes Paul, there is a very small square hole in each wing so no wires can be seen, more elegant, more aerodynamic! Send me your e-mail and I will send you some pics of the pod and wing so you can see the wiring and hole. Cheers!
