What a joy it was to see this show again. One of my all time favourite shows, always had me in tears seeing the happiness on peoples faces when reunited with long lost family and friends 😍
We didnt get this programme here in NZ but I had heard about it as needed help getting a friend to UK to meet up with lost family... so wrote to Cilla and the dream came true, flown to London to be on her show cant remember the exact date in 1996 as it was filmed after Easter, then a friend copied it to me and sent it through to NZ to me... awesome thank you London TV.
Everybody seemed to come from New Zealand lol they chose guests to reunite from there as it seemed so exotic and far away to UK audiences. One of the producers gave an interview a few years back stating this. Was Cilla nice to you backstage?
when I was on the show..... the person I took over with me had not seen his sisters for decades, he and a friend were in a Boys Home in Bournemouth and during WW2 jumped ship in NZ so didnt know how to find the sisters in UK... what a reunion on the Show.. then he went with them to Bournemouth and met up with the long lost brothers as well. AWESOME!!!

"Bob Downe" performs now under his real name Mark Trevorrow and is still alive.
He appeared on the Australian special the following year.
Mark Trevorrow as Bob Downe was always genius.
