The Lakota called the hethuska "Omaha dance" or "grass dance". The dancers selected to wear the raven belt"bustle" danced the tail.the lesser ranking warriors stuck grass into their belts which represented scalps.the post rez period regalia is the result of govt. Bans on dancing which included bustles, pipes etc.ndns under 40 yrs.of age were forbidden to dance and wear old style regalia. white man shirts and pants decorated were substituted for the leather chiefs outfits.the young mans grass dance developed into a non-ceremonial type of dance with vocable songs instead of word songs.the "antenna"roach spreader with plumes on the ends were substituted for eagle feather "war Honor" spinners on the porcupine Roach.
