Jiles did not explain the context of the situation. Megan was famously supportive of Phil at first, thinking he was innocent. The public knew that because she made statements about it. Eventually, she was convinced Phil was guilty, made one last visit to him in jail and broke it off. The lawyer then made the statement of behalf of Megan.
What a scummy roommate, deliberately going through all of her belongings before her family had the opportunity to retrieve them, to find something she could make money off of, and selling Julissa’s diary to the press. Sad that she saw Julissa’s brutal murder as a chance to grab some cash.
Jiles is a master storyteller as is Mike O from that chapter and Stephanie Soo, the Rotten Mango girl. She does it with her husband and they have a dialog about the case.
I love that Giles tells the victims stories. So many times we just hear “the victim was a sex worker” like they’re throw away people. Julissa clearly meant so much to everyone that knew her and was looking toward a bright future.
I appreciate that, too. It always makes me so sad that the victims of Gary Ridgeway, have been dismissed as trash, because they were sex workers. No, he didn't. He got absolutely nowhere before Philip quickly lawyered up. And there is no video. Only an audiotape. Gee, this channel is so full of fictional fantasies, including the narrator. Oh wellz maybe that's the point and the reason fans have fun at this site...
The fact that he wrote Megan’s name in blood before his grand unaliving might lead one to think he was sooo in love with her or that he was so very sorry to her. After what he did? 🙄 Nah, I don’t think so. Dude probably hated women at some level. I think in some sadly, twisted way, he probably viewed her as some kind of pure angelic savior from his own degeneracy and perversions, she was his shot at “normalcy”. I’ve unfortunately known men pretty similar to that, and they usually put those “saviors” through hell because they’ll actually resent them for not being what they truly want. But then, they need them for appearances and the hope of being “normal”. HINT: It doesn’t work. 🤦♂️
Slightly disagree with the idea that he in any way venerated Megan, especially at the end. Killing yourself, but using your blood and last moments to refer to your ex (who broke up with you because of your bad actions) using both their name AND pet name reads a deliberately malicious. He knew Megan was head over heels for him, loved him so deeply that finding out he was a murderer, a predator and (likely) deeply misogynistic would have been devastating. However, allhe likely cared about was that she broke off their engagement. Writing her name was one last way to get back at her for spurning him, just like (I'm sure) any women before her had, once they saw him for who he really was.

Didn't intend to kill her? "Violent panic"? Interesting word choices. Here's some... Generally, putting several bullets into a petite unarmed woman when he could've just as easily punched & knocked her out a few min allowing his scot free escape screams yeah he intended to kill her & no he wasn't very bright! Poor Julissa did not deserve such an end. Sadly, compounding this tragedy it's highly likely had she been armed & feigned compliance she could've executed justice on this monster the court failed to long before the coward had the chance to off himself. And she'd still be alive.

As a kinkster, I want to thank you for taking the time to educate your viewers on the BDSM community whenever the topic arises in your videos, Jiles. I deeply appreciate it as misconceptions still persist despite more public awareness of BDSM. The fact that we are so stigmatized is exactly the reason why predators like Markoff are attracted to our community and hide in it.
Lol I enjoyed that you called yourself a "kinkster". Anywho im of the belief that full grown adults should be able to do what they want with other consenting adults. The victim shaming / blaming in this case is beyond disgusting...why is it it's always the hostess / masseuse that gets picked apart never mind the more often than that the married man ...poor girl was trying her hardest at turning her life around and also saving money so that her sister would be debt free .. A much loved young life taken away far to soon

I love this channel and respect the creator enormously. I’ve loved true crime for years, but these cases are starting to wear me down, tbh. Beautifully presented case in this video, but my goodness, the levels of human depravity are definitely getting to me.
I feel you. I watch him and Mrballen on a regular basis. For a while last year, about 6 months, I had to stop watching all true crime. I think there is something depressing about overexposure to it. Not genius level observation here, just my own experience. It makes you want to plug back into the matrix if you catch my drift.
@@purschannel1155 Same. I love Mrballen, and Fascinating Horror, too. They all have a way with respectfully and skillfully telling these stories. But I have to take months-long breaks on this kind of stuff or risk letting paranoia, increasing misanthropy, and anger/sadness on behalf of the victims take up too much space in my thoughts. There was one story on here ("She Survived, But She Didn't Live,") that was particularly devastating it made me cry a few times.
Thats weird that there's no tie between bdsm and crime. Clearly there's plenty of people into bdsm that are regular law abiding citizens, but it sure does pop up alot in m-rder and serial k-ller cases like ALOT.
If you do those things and enjoy it, you’re a sadist. You might express that in mutually-consenting ways where everyone is safe, but you are a sadist. I get the sense that doms focus on the consent part because they don’t like feeling judged that…um, yeah, some people are going to be uncomfortable with the fact that you hurt people for pleasure 🤷♀️
@@revenge0lobster I completely agree with you,I mean you have to be a sadist to enjoy causing any amount of pain to another person. I try not to be judgemental but it does disturb me some.
He didnt feel anything, not much of anything his whole life. Just the extreme emotions that most of us cant handle, like shame, pain and deep dispair. When you cant feel anything, you will go to extremes to feel something.
And I’m sure being involved with healthcare he should/would/could’ve been able to identify that something was wrong with that. That it’s not remotely normal. He was in a better position to identify and address his issues than most. So no sympathy for him here. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
My older two girls were only a couple of years younger than these two when they started dating. As Massachusetts residents who attended college in Boston we were keenly aware of the bullet we dodged. Awful, simply awful! The roommate who betrayed Julissa was a real douche! (The c word comes to mind as well) There’s a special place in hell for people like that.
16:21 this part sounds like she was doing her 10th or 11th step for Alcoholics Anonymous can’t remember which one it is, but it says to make a list of those you’ve wronged and to make amends with them.
Love what you are putting out. However, out of respect for our profession, we aren’t masseuses we are Licensed Massage Therapists. There is a difference and the latter refers to an old idea of what we actually do for a living. Sec work is never a part of our scope of practice.
I think that's exactly why he called them masseuses, bc these women didn't have the license and that's what they called themselves in their ads. One of them "trained under a licensed massage therapist" but I also think he was often quoting or referencing the news articles themselves in many instances. He seems to have a lot of respect for sex workers so I'm sure he respects LMTs as well, at least from this vantage point.
Life & humans are the weirdest things... Some people struggle all their life's to find success, a loving partner, financial stability, also wishing they were good looking & smart. THEN you have these weird people who have almost everything that most people want.. Yet they throw it all away, are unhappy, hurt other people, take everything they have for granted, etc. Humans really can be one of the weirdest creatures..
People continually misunderstanding something because the media has painted it improperly doesn't mean anything is wrong with it. This a very arrogant view.
This is by far the most comprehensive and best-researched take I've seen about this case. Markoff was an even more sinister deviant than I thought.

The victim shaming / blaming in this case is beyond disgusting...why is it it's always the hostess / masseuse that gets picked apart never mind the more often than that the married man ...poor girl was trying her hardest at turning her life around and also saving money so that her sister would be debt free ..
A much loved young life taken away far to soon
theres even victim blaming in this comment section. very disgusting.
@@stealyourface1226 I've seen ..truly disgusting... My heart breaks for anyone that has been affected by this to then have some idiot blame her
What a highly informative and anticipated intro. Bravo Jiles. You just keep getting better.
Yay!!! So happy to see a new video pop up! This one creeps me out!
Congratulations: the best roundup I´ve seen of this tale. Well done!
Stories like these make me glad I'm single!
A background check is cheap, a coffin is expensive…
Best comment ever!!!!
It’s a m3n problem. Bc I def never attacked or hurt s workers…
How does one do a background check ?
@@thegreencat9947 you can Google search it and come up with no less than 50 sites willing to take $20 for giving you temporary access to the National Crime Information Center or NCIC.
Content creators use these sites all the time to read up on the criminal history of people in their stories.
A gun is also cheaper and very important for protection.. especially if your a woman..no reason not to carry when you live in a state that has legal carry.
Hi everyone from Scotland 🏴 luv this channel❤
Same I’m from Arbroath
🏴
We're going on vacation to Scotland next month!

@@thisisMONSTERS Hope you all have a great trip you will love Scotland ❤️
Wow! Thank you!
Thank you for an in depth look at this deviant psychopath. The audacity of him! His girlfriend was dumb. Thank God he was stopped before a medical degree!! Love your show ❤️
Poor Meagan. To be so massively betrayed must have been devastating.
Love every episode. But i really love that bass line in the intro intro music score.
No matter how gruesome the story ...... Jiles always pulls you in to the end.
We love you Jiles ❤❤❤ Thank you. ❤
Oldie but goodie! Morning all 🇬🇧
I hate to be that guy, but the photographs you keep showing of “Megan” aren’t of Megan, they’re of Morgan Houston, Markoff’s former classmate.
Love this channel.
I think he's trying to describe a Venn Diagram versus a one-to-one correlation with the BDSM and serial killers.
@@revenge0lobster I completely agree with you,I mean you have to be a sadist to enjoy causing any amount of pain to another person. I try not to be judgemental but it does disturb me some.
I remember this happening. I will never understand how anyone can hurt another person like he did. He really was a monster!
Poor Megan, I feel so terrible for her 😢 Crazy to think what a bright future markoff would’ve had if he hadn’t been a psycho
Yes indeed.
Im sure thats why she was with him. She ignored the red flags because hes gonna be a doctor
I don’t feel that sorry for her. A lot of women chose solely on looks and status.
@@s.tavares3257you have no idea whether or not that's what she did.

Philip lived literally right around the corner from me in South Boston.
Hi Jiles Happy Easter. Stay safe and take care 😘🏴
Jalissa sounds like a very complex, dedicated, caring and intriguing person
Both of their interrogations are pretty good.
Once again perfect times just clocked back in from lunch
Get back to work!😂
Good morning monsters !!
Bon Matin!
Bonjour!
As a medical student, he was very stoopid! And a coward.
At work bored so… MUCH THANKS❤️❤️❤️
I love your personal interjections 💀 “yeah no shit”
You could say Philip was looking for... something sinister.
"Homosexual firefighter" got me 🤣
Philip was on the Cash Cab in New York . I think that she was in the car with him. The girl had curly hair! 🌈🌈🌈🌠 The More You Know!
That is mind blowing!!!!!!!!🤯

@@mongoosecavern I recorded the show on my phone . An older device!
As an aussie and a holder of the best English speaking accent, the Boston accent comes a very close second.. In my opinion anyway.
Haha yeah I agree with you.
Oh boy...I was born in Boston. Nice to know I can go to Australia and not be ostracized. Fairdinkum, mate.😁🐨🕷
Hey Monsters 👋

@@lickidesplit123 Howdy
16:21 this part sounds like she was doing her 10th or 11th step for Alcoholics Anonymous
can’t remember which one it is, but it says to make a list of those you’ve wronged and to make amends with them.
Love what you are putting out. However, out of respect for our profession, we aren’t masseuses we are Licensed Massage Therapists. There is a difference and the latter refers to an old idea of what we actually do for a living. Sec work is never a part of our scope of practice.
You are broke yet you gamble.
They’ve socially become intertwined. For better or worse.
In my city they constantly raid SW businesses posing as legit massage parlors.
Oh brother …
If it doesn’t apply, let it fly.
I listen to these stories and I just can't understand why they do these horrible things.
25:59 I'm amazed at his utterly blasé tone and poker face when questioned. That was bold.
Perfect timing
Good thing the interrogating officers don’t have a Boston accent 😂😂 It sounds so “Hill Street Blues “ lol
Man oh man will I be tired at work tomorrow. I should go to sleep but, NOPE.
I'm gonna need for people to stop normalizing odd behavior. I'm over that mess.
What are you talking about?
I'm odd af, don't mean I'm gonna kill someone. 🥴
I'm super normal on the outside, but u should hear what oddities go on in this noggin.....
"Neurodivergent people are more likely to commit murder" ass comment
Thank-you-Jiles ❤
Haha, you gotta keep an eye out for those "ONLINE FRIENDS " 😅
Julisa is so inspiring, what a damn shame.
For the 100th time 🗣️ if you keep having to defend your kink, it is problematic!
Great point 💯
People continually misunderstanding something because the media has painted it improperly doesn't mean anything is wrong with it. This a very arrogant view.
Thank you Jiles🙏🏼💔🕊️
