    Thanks for sharing this. I am in the market for a new pack and will certainly check this one out.

    Aether Plus is much more interesting. The Pro has removed the side pockets and the mega-comfortable large elasticated front pocket. Also in the Plus model there are two additional compartments (on the sides of the same elastic pocket) and the lower and front entrance to the main compartment, which is also very convenient! Also in Plus, the top flap can be removed and converted into a small backpack. The only benefit of the Pro model (which the Plus lacks) is the enlarged side pockets at the waist. The Pro is 800g lighter, but at the same time significantly lost in functionality and convenience, it's not worth it. This might make sense for climbers, but not for most tourists. I also note that there are not enough elastic pockets on the shoulder straps, where you can place a large smartphone, as is done in the new Talon and Talon Pro models. Also the pocket for the drinking system is more convenient when it is located on the outside, and not inside the backpack.

    Love my ‘un-pro’ version but this looks sick. I like that they stripped down some of the faff

      Hahahaha the "un-pro" is such a solid bag. We agree that this Pro 70L does a great job with few bells and whistles. Thanks for watching!

    This is the best review of this pack I've seen so far... Thanks. I am preparing for an 800 mile road hike through the Southwest, and I'm not an experienced backpacker. Is this pack overkill since I'll be traveling along roads instead of through wilderness? My big concern is being able to comfortably carry enough water to get me through some of the more desolate sections of California, Arizona and New Mexico in late winter and early spring.

      Thanks so much for the kind feedback Mark. This bag is definitely intended for long distance backpacking and mountaineering. I recommend considering how much weight you'll be bringing on your trip. If it's anywhere close to 55lbs then this might be the best bag for you. However, if your carrying a load in the 30lb range it might be a bit overkill. You might want to look into something intended for lighter loads. Let us know if you need any recommendations. Hope that helps!

    Good video man. Would of loved to see how the pockets are removable though.

      I definitely should've illustrated that in the video. My apologies. I'll try and find another video that shows the process. It's very simple and easy.

    Great review! What's your favorite pack of all time for extended hikes?

    • @NYGearReview
      @NYGearReview  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Currently this is my favorite if I'm going for more storage. Otherwise, I love the weight and simplicity of the Patagonia Ascensionist 40L pack.

    Hi, great review. I’ve just bought this pack and I have a few questions: 1) do you find the back harness creeks when in use and loaded up? 2) Do you think it is a true 70 litre as I’m struggling to get the same gear into into it that I use with my Osprey AG65?

    • @NYGearReview
      @NYGearReview  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No issues with creeking thus far! I'm not sure about the sizing but could be that this pack is narrower and doesn't have all the extra pockets/features of the AG

    Why did you change atmos to aether? Is Atmos not as comfortable as this one? Or are there other reasons?

    • @NYGearReview
      @NYGearReview  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They're both great bags, but I was looking for a lighter pack than the atmos but with similar storage capacity. I think the Atmos is probably a touch more comfortable but more burly than I needed. Happy to have a lighter pack with more minimalist design and more customized experience.

    Hey there, I was wondering if you could explain anything about how the piggybacking system works for attaching a daypack? Osprey tout that it's compatible with the Daylite & Daylite Plus, however I can't find any information about whether it's doing something propriety to connect, or whether you could connect just about any other daypack? Thanks!

    • @NYGearReview
      @NYGearReview  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Rich! Great question. The bag has buckles that clip into the Daylight and then keep it secure on the outside of the Aether Pro 70L. This video illustrates it but not so clearly. th-cam.com/video/NpJxbp3KFX4/w-d-xo.html. It doesn't seem ideal to me but if you're looking for extra storage, need a daypack, and already have a Daylite then it might be a great option. Otherwise I'd probably just compress my daypack and stuff it inside.

    How does it feel compared to an atmos ag? Much thinner fabric?

    • @NYGearReview
      @NYGearReview  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The fabric isn't much thinner but definitely not quite at burly as the AG. Definitely a durable pack but the feel of the fabric isn't as resilient as the AG.

    Just under 4lbs for a 70L pack?
    That's pretty damn good especially with such a good build.

    • @NYGearReview
      @NYGearReview  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yankee we agree!

    • @YankeeWoodcraft
      @YankeeWoodcraft 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've had the ultralight stuff before. Feels like toilet paper and thread as far as build quality goes. Right now, I settled on a middle of the range Mystery Ranch Glacier because I carry heavy stuff (camera equipment & hunting gear) for my 70L. Comes in at 5 lbs 14 oz. Not light, but all the padding & framing really make the weight disappear on my back. Hope you heal well bro.
