       I seen a person throwing a BUCK 119 into a tree and the handgaurd loosened and caused the knife blade to rattle inside of the grip handle. It is because the handgaurd is two pieces with a black disc between them.

    Those are some rather surprising results considering how inexpensive it is; not bad really, tbh. 🤔Thanks for sharing and Cheers!

    Interesting... I always thought Buck’s special heat treatment made them more brittle. None of my old Buck 110’s survived while my old Schrade copy in supposedly the same steel lives on. I’ve also experienced Kabar’s 1095 cro-van to not hold up compared to my other 1095 blades. I’m sure they had better edge retention but with my poke, prod and prey nature I never had that to be an issue...

    I have to say that thing is pretty tough(will be buying it soon), i have a few buck knives, okc's , mora's , ka-bars , you know a knife junkie, but i have never needed to beat the crap out of them. I've bee camping, hunting, and collecting knives for 50 years i still have most of them too. no offense but we ain't in the jungles of Vietnam like my older brother where your knife is one of your most important tools. I think that knife will be just fine for any outdoor excursion, and you demonstrated that without prejudice, nice job....

    Excellent insightful test!
    Your results prove that some products that are Made In China, are indeed durable and capable useful items.
    It looks like the Harbor Freight Gordon Hunting knife in some aspects is more durable than even the mighty Buck!
    I think this Harbor Freight Gordon Hunting knife would do fine as an outdoor activities Hunting knife from cutting Sasauges, Rope, to Skinning a Deer to Defending against a Bear attack etc.

    I'd almost bet if that knife wasn't driven into the filing cabinet like it was the tip would have lasted a much longer tip test in the stump. Great knives for a nice price. Either sharpen it out or take it back for a replacement. YMMV.

    So tired of people abusing knives beating on them and calling 1 knife bad and another good.
    Use the right tool for the job. Splitting wood needs an ax.

    • @peterbiltknifeguy
      @peterbiltknifeguy  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Although I do agree this is abuse. But I believe it’s good to find out the strength of a knife. All knives are not created equally. And if I was lost in the woods of fishing or in a car accident in the middle of nowhere I would like to know I can trust my tools.

    • @mikehenthorn1778

      @@peterbiltknifeguy i guess i am tired of seeing knives i have had and used not abused in these tests and having them down checked . knives like a WW2 Marine ka-bar from great uncle i used in boyscouts in the 70 and still use, a scrade and buck folder that was always on my hip on the farm and each had saved a limb cutting me out of a bailer where the twine was tangled around my hand. lastly was the buck 119 that went on many camping trips and hunting trips. i never hit them with a stick or a hammer i used an ax to make firewood.
      i have broken many newer knives just using on the job since the 90s working on boilers and chillers. locks break , steel is soft so they don't hold and edge or so hard you have a hard time putting an edge back on. and full tangs will break too. everything breaks.
      up side for you this interaction helps your channel so that is a good thing. looking forward to more videos.

      @@mikehenthorn1778 thank you. I appreciate the feedback. I too grew up with a 110 and 119. Options were limited in the 80’s lol. My goal here is not to break knives. Especially because I spent my $ on them lol. But to show the strengths and weaknesses of certain designs. If I was looking for a rugged outdoor knife and wasn’t into knives I would be looking for videos like this to help me make a decision. Anyway. Thank you again.

    So I've seen and read multiple reviews on this knife. They are 98% "good" to "Wow, I'm surprised, this is great." Can it fairly be placed on a higher tier in quality/reputation? I was going to say likely not, but I think that's still kind of subjective and the comments about the steel quality have me going "maybe".
    I will say that I think it's worth putting in my collection, putting in my truck, or for self defense. I enjoy finding budget flippers that reviews say are surprisingly good. This will likely by my first fixed blade of that nature. (Have a Szco bowie, but it gets less cool points because you normally have to sharpen their knives out of the box). End of rant.

    Buck knives have a lifetime warranty- these don't.

    • @peterbiltknifeguy
      @peterbiltknifeguy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lol. Actually it’s the other way around. Read Buck’s warranty. It’s very clear. It only warrants against factory defects. Not use. So basically after it gets past quality control. It’s no longer warranted. They will fix it. But charge you.
      We warranty each and every Buck knife to be free of defects in material and workmanship for the life of the knife, and we will repair or replace with a new Buck knife, at our option, any Buck knife that is defective. Buck Knives does not warrant its products against normal wear, misuse, or product modifications. Buck Knives are not intended to be used as hammers, chisels, pry bars, or screwdrivers.

    • @korgan7779
      @korgan7779 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@GarryH-nd6tx This is true to an extent. Yes, they will repair/replace if it is a defect and they will often go ahead and replace it as long as it isn't a very obvious misuse of the knife. It also depends on the guy(s) that review the warranty return request. My first Buck Fixblade was a 692 Vanguard in which the hidden tang snapped while i was chopping with it, not battoning, just chopping but you could see where a "bubble" of some sort had been in the steel and caused it to be weak in that point. They replaced it and I still have it today. (As well as a 191 Vanguard Zipper) (also, while it is considered a 692, in the 90s when I got mine it was just a 192 because it didn't have the guthook and wasn't a wood grip)
      The point is, if this one breaks, you can replace it yourself by purchasing another one and can do that roughly 2 times before you match the price of the actual Buck.

    depending on where you get your buck knife from... could only be a 10 dollar difference. lets be fair... people don't really buy these knifes anymore. I carry a fixed blade... out of everyone I know.. I feel like I'm the only one.. everyone else has flippers. Been carrying the ghost for years now.. I love harbor freight.. but if the price for the og is that close.. i'm probably gonna go original.
    this test proves that 10 bucks would not have been worth it.. a buck knife would not break like that.
    on top of it.. that thing breaking could have cost you an eyeball. 🤨
    I saw that cheap ass pit metal it was made out of where it broke.. so thanks for the vid, cause i wouldnt even use this as a toolbox knife now..
    Knowing a mora knife is cheaper and wont break... ill stick to those
