Constance, those old cabinets would be good for a shop/garage for storage, or even a garden work station for potting plants. We've found surprises with electrical sockets as well....absolutely no fun to find. I believe the people we bought this house from cut corners in several areas. As time, and money permits we will be ripping out all of their fancy work. I'm looking forward to seeing what you'll be doing to your kitchen in later videos.
Slowly but surely! It’s hard to be patient with the process, but I know one day we’ll look back at these as good times. 😊 I’ve almost got my kitchen unpacked, but there will still be some organization projects. We sure do have a lot of kitchen stuff as homesteaders! And pantry - that’s just overwhelming. I don’t think the people who owned my house cooked. 😅
What an exciting time! Having a good functional kitchen is the best. What's even better is that you all can do the work yourselves. I can do many home repairs, but cabinetry and such is not my forte.😁. I know when your kitchen is finally complste, it will be beautiful. Seeing you do chores and loving on the animals is always a favorite.
I admire how capable and handy you are at all your homestead improvements and ventures. It's a blessing and gives me inspiration and courage to try some things needing improved or reconfigured around the house myself. 🙏💕🥚🍳
Looking forward to seeing the new kitchen! We remodeled ours in Sept. from an 8' very dark galley kitchen to a bright 10'x16' functioning kitchen. No walls were moved, we just changed the layout and gutted the room. Yes, we paid through the nose...I saved all through Covid to be able to do things the right way. Quartz counters and backsplash, hickory lowers and sand (greige) uppers, all new stainless appliances and LVP floors. My husband and I are both disabled so we had a great contractor do all the work, and he threw in some other home repairs we badly needed at the same time. Yep, it was a nightmare to live through but I can't believe I have a joyful place to spend my cooking days. Good luck to you, hope all goes without any hitches!
Your hens are so pretty! So excited for you in redoing your kitchen! Such an exciting time!!! Good for you all. Doing in stages is best because some of the areas are still usable. Your storage looked very limited. You can use the old things in a workshop or greenhouse. Good, so glad you can repurpose these cabinets. Quartz would be very nice on the other side of the kitchen. Wonderful, can't wait to see the finished result. I know the first time I saw those cabinets with the towers and the microwave, that it wouldn't last for long as it wasn't a truly user friendly kitchen. Hope everything goes smoothly!

I would never recommend corian countertops after owning them. I love the quartz. Maintenance is zip and it’s nearly indestructible.
