I used to ride these trains as a kid in the late 60s. There was still an old train yard with a turn table near Brisbane where steam engines were housed. All gone now kind of sad lots of history was there.
I did miss a couple of trains (as I got distracted looking for Wi-Fi, and in one instance (early on) I was far too close to the line - I forgot how fast these trains go!
When the entire Caltrain line is all electrification, I'm sure they'll have no problem selling their locomotives and passenger railcars and making a fat buck off of them!!!
There's still a couple of years to go until the electrification is complete. I usually stay in hostels when I travel as it's a lot cheaper than a hotel.
It won't be fully electric until mid-2022 at the earliest. There's still time. Furthermore the San Jose-Gilroy section will still be diesel for quite some time yet.
I currently use a Canon Powershot ELPH 350HS point-and-shoot. Previously I've used a 190IS, 130IS, 300HS and 780IS. The only 'camcorder' I've ever used is a Canon UC8-Hi8 with 8mm tapes (up to July 2009).
It can do better (1080p) but I record in 720p as it is a decent enough quality with faster processing time and less HDD space. One of my 1080p videos (by mistake) was the Kettle Valley Railway last year.
nah the k5la is just the most overrated thing I ever heard of from railfans because of how safe they are. and I personally think the P2's my favorite horn with the k3l just behind it.

14:52 Amazing job catching the legendary Cab Car 120... Again!

Welwyn22 they mostly go about 60-80 mph which is the reason why I stay a few few few more feet away from the yellow line
Reminds me of the Metra trains we got here in Chicago, Illinois.
YOU REASON ❤
Same power and coaches lol
Yep
But no bombardier bi level cars
1:16 just love seeing 901, very nice
This honestly has got to be my favourite train vid! Just from all the signals being shown and how dark it is out there. Great video!
I have plenty more videos like this, feel free to take a look
2:19 tho. The Doppler effect is great!
5:00 here comes one of my favorite Caltrain locos
6:55
awesome horn

I see a bus 🚌
Mine too

To metra
Not all will go as they will still be needed to get to Gilroy
They will keep a small number of the original fleet to go from San Jose Diredon to Gilroy.
Jon Falkenburg yeah the cab cars to :(
That will be so like DART but I will still miss what they have now
Awesome video! I wish I could record them before they go electric but I'm in the east coast.

@@Welwyn22 that makes sense
@@chesapeakerailphotography Caltrain will have AEM-7S soon
@@ROTE I think thats only for testing. After its complete it may be off to the scrap yard
I’ll be there this summer to get some shots
Maybe Caltrain 911 would be a Honoring First Responders heritage unit!
Awesome! Great footage! I feel like this will get a lot of views!
Flat Train you are correct! To this date, this has a little more than 9K views!
It would be nice if all my videos could do so well...
Let’s see how high you can go! I say maybe 20k
Dang 35!
11:25 that's a rare train
0:16 that a interesting pedestrian crossing
Today I learned that the horns are actually a Nathan P2 (a New Cast P5 with only bell #2 & #3), and not some tuned K5LA or K3LA or some of the rather
does caltrains own there track
Caltrain owns their own tracks from San Francisco to San Jose (Tamien). The line to Gilroy is owned by Union Pacific.
1:43 it looked like a little train but then it transformed ☠️
When Caltrain becomes electric what are they going to do with 900-919 locomotives and the older cab cars?
It's highly likely they'll either be sold off, or scrapped.
Probably sold
I really wish I could catch Caltrain before they go electric but I'm in Illinois ☹

@@Welwyn22 ok, I would like to go next summer but I doubt that
Wait. It is just me or gallery cab car and F40PH-Cat2 is real
l s What do you mean by that? Those cab cars and locos are real if that’s what you’re wondering about
Lol
Nice Video!
Glad you liked it!
I love cal train
hola...alguien sabe cuál modelo de caltrain vendrán a Perú ?
The silver ones
Caltrain is the branch line version of metra exept with p2’s only 1 mainline & bombardier equipment
No metro link cars 6:55
Why do they have Metrolink multilevel cars
Metrolink sold them to Caltrain in 2015. At the time Caltrain was looking for a quick solution to overcrowding - caused by a lack of extra cars.
0:09 why?
JUST BEING STUPID.

well enjoy the diesel train, you won't see them on that track anymore, they will be replace by Stadler kis.
I am hoping to return to the SF Bay Area next year to see the last of the diesel trains, as well as the testing of the new electric sets.
Caltrain真是一列吵鬧的鋁箔包.....
12:42 happy holi day ma cy 429😷
What about the baby bullet train? I'm gonna miss that:(
The Baby Bullets will grow up to become full-fledged Bullet trains operated by CHSRA.
Welwyn22 what's CHSRA?
California High Speed Rail Authority
Maybe the other locomotives from caltrain can be sold to others like coaster amtrak or metrolink. Or a museam display!
@@aaronmiller5012 or maybe Chicago metra?
So many asthmatic P2's in here. I guess they probably chose them because they"re a little quieter but jesus those horns sound terrible.

RIP the bus at 4:54
Why? Did something happen to it?
I know the NABI artics are being retired so thought that was the one you meant.
Welwyn22 No, the crossing went down as it was about to drive across the tracks, and it became stuck in the middle of the road
R.i.p the bus
Ah, January. Back when 2020 was just a normal new year and all the rona bullshit hadn't started yet.
