Listening to this right now at the maternity. My baby was born yesterday and my wife reminded me of this song during labor time! How awesome is that?? 🤘❤️
Before anyone else puts their two cents worth in, let me give mine. It's Liquid Tension Experiment, which contains 3 members of Dream Theater and 1 that isn't. Sorry Tony Levin, you're not part of the club!
I disagree :P You need either: Great understanding of music or: Great taste in music I have no musical knowledge at all, but I prefer bands who make music that is out of the ordinary. Constant 4/4 tempo and a basic structure gets very predictable and boring after a while. Prog rock or metal does the exact opposite of "predictable music"
Cameron Pearce well portnoy clearly stated that he would like non dt members... but dimebag who was his first choice was unavailable. steve morse and jim matheos were his other choices.. but they weren'ty available either . so he went with petrucci

I remember discovering Acid Rain over a decade ago and just listening to it on loop for hour after hour on end - yet somehow it's taken me all this time to listen to a full length set by LTE. WHY?! Why did it take me so long?! This is beautiful, glorious, listening *gold*
I'm more of a "Kindred Spirits" or "Universal Minds" person myself, although my preference to those songs is kind of like preferring St Paul to St Peter.
The groove that starts at 10:48 reminds me a lot of "The Other One" by The Grateful Dead. The Grateful Dead is an unlikely, ridiculous even, association when comes to the work of LTE and Dream Theater. I'm sure it was completely accidental. The groove is somewhat unique, but still something any common artist might eventually stumble upon. Also, I've never heard any of these guys mention the Grateful Dead as an influence, and their sound definitely backs that up. But they are obviously about as well-rounded as it gets and extremely studied, so who knows? Anyways, thought I'd just point it out. LTE rules! 🤘🤘
this one of the best, if not the best groups ever; extremely talented but the most amazing thing is that dream theater sounds just as good when they are playing live. i had the pleasure to see them in NJ a few years ago. awesome experience!!!! DREAM THEATER ROCKS!!!
that drumm solo at 4:50 is seriously the best solo portnoy have ever created . what's with people calling him overrated . 99% of them were at least kids in 1999 if not even born . jeez
16:49 That sounds like the show ends, the curtains fall and it was all just a theatre play. While this little segment sounds, all the people are leaving the theatre while members of the staff say to them : "Goodybe Mr, goodbye Ms, thank you for coming" but all of a sudden, the theatre explodes and a nano nucleonic cyborg summoning starts which ends in the eradication of the 80% of world's human population and the beginning of The New World Algae Order where human societies that survived are controlled with helmets with circuits made of Algae, Phytoplankton and Chlorophyll so after conducting oxygenic photosynthesis they create enough energy to keep the energy flowing through the circuits and being able to leave the human in a catatonic state of mind in which he becomes a slave from his thoughts and the executioner of his own soul... at least that's what i understood from that part.
Does anyone else hear Steve Morse influences on the solos? There are or were both Ernie Ball guys, and Rudess played with The Dregs just before the first LTE disk...
Only SPECIAL people can appreciate music like this. Not stupid but Talented people. That is why this is not played on the Radio. The Norm doesn't understand. They need a 4/4 beat. Ugh. You can't fix stupid.
@AhNationaL i almost agree not everyone in that list is talentless lady gaga is a pretty decent piano player and singer and i was impressed by her acoustic version of paparazzi which she changed from minor to major! that was awesome to me, she got my respect there
Rush's La Villa Stragiato at 3:36 and this song at 2:38 :O I noticed the similarity in the drum line listening to the live performance, and it's quite more varied over here.
It is most definitely not easy. the opening guitar part is probably the hardest part of the piece. Playing that 5 string 7 fret spanning arpeggio takes some serious chops.
This has been my favorite song since I was 5. My dad showed it to me then, and I have been obsessed since.
best dad
@@codekhalil6437 still my favorite song
It has been my favorite song since my mother's water broke
You are since then, saved by the gods of metal.
Now that s parenting !
Could listen to this over, and over, and over...
This song has one of the most epic outro.
This song still amazes me after 16 years!! No words!
16 years!? Fuck me time flies! I remember the first time I heard this like it was yesterday.
It does! I´m feeling old haha
Am I seeing an album cover from Eloy? yeeah lml
Eloy-Ocean great album, greater band
@@bojankotur4613 at that time this was probably the most technical stuff out there with planet x
Kiara is already 26 and this song still rocks after that much time!
This still stands at the top of my list of favorite instrumentals. Beautifully crafted! It's pretty mesmerizing what these guys can do!
Listening to this right now at the maternity. My baby was born yesterday and my wife reminded me of this song during labor time! How awesome is that?? 🤘❤️
It's a blessing when a song doesn't need vocals to become a unity. This is a true masterpiece.
So emotional, so powerful. Damn. I wish I could make my guitar sing like that...
You have to have a great understanding of music to listen to this, that's what makes DT so amazing.
This isn't DT though, it's Liquid Tension Experiment :-/
Before anyone else puts their two cents worth in, let me give mine.
It's Liquid Tension Experiment, which contains 3 members of Dream Theater and 1 that isn't.

Dibosh Roy I get that. Then by share luck they convinced Jordan Rudess to join them in DT.

11:00 my favorite part. Rudess trying Jon Lord's boots with groovy Hammond solo
awesome
Just discovered this song. I consider all the things I've done in life until now meaningless. Simply magnificient.
After all this time, I still find it amazing they recorded experiment 1&2 in less than 2 weeks.... amazing!
One of the best LTE songs imo, such a complete piece
I wish you were in NYC when saw them live, freaking fantastic!
Dec 2020 and I still listen to this constantly. What is it... 20 years old? Round and round forever, I guess. Well, on my phone, but you get it.
I thought writing a 13 minute instrumental would be too much, but this shows it's not. Thanks! :)
This is the best Liquid Tension song...its so freakin amazing
absolutely amazing........................................
Jazz, Progressive, Fusion, Metal, Hard Rock, Blues + Pink Floyd
4:13 my favorite part of the entire song, I don’t know what it is about that part but it’s so uplifting & atmospheric
thats that newscaster intro shit
11:02 Rudess rarely plays Hammond, but when he does - it's fuckin awesome!
that part is very pink floyd
@@jimmessina I would say very Deep Purple-like. And it's actually amazing
MASTERPIECE
dude I was about to post the same thing.
dude I was about to post the same thing about you being about to post the same thing.
solo at 3mins best petrucci solo ever
I think he thinks so too. It's one solo that perfectly nails his signature style.
music for musicians i say
John's baby was born in the middle of recording the track, that's why there's a baby at the start
Thank for information, I didn't know that
And that child is already 26, time flies!
My classification of this.... pure musical enlightenment!!!!!
Best song ever composed?
I remember discovering Acid Rain over a decade ago and just listening to it on loop for hour after hour on end - yet somehow it's taken me all this time to listen to a full length set by LTE. WHY?! Why did it take me so long?! This is beautiful, glorious, listening *gold*
1:51 :3 Love that part
Best instrumental song!
What about "La Villa Strangiato" by Rush?
This is still better
I mean they're very different songs. This is more of a shredfest.
la villa is hard to beat... im gonna just say i like both and leave it at that. no competition here.
I'm more of a "Kindred Spirits" or "Universal Minds" person myself, although my preference to those songs is kind of like preferring St Paul to St Peter.
Esta canción me transmite tanta dicha, definitivamente es una celebración de la vida! Ahh! Y qué bueno es escucharla después de tanto tiempo
Can't stop listening and thus thumbing it up throughout the day hahaha incredible musicians
Holy hell i love this tune.
10:11 god this note. so beautiful
That troll at the end ! :D
So good !
It's a been long time not listening this tunes..
Wouldn't surprise me. John Pet is a huge Rush fan
He has stated on multiple occasions that Rush is his favorite band!!
The groove that starts at 10:48 reminds me a lot of "The Other One" by The Grateful Dead.

Great music. Monumental play in all variations.
if this song was my wife, i would listen to her
Well put.

Why won't I stop crying? Damn, life's tough. But I guess this song does a great job reminding you of its bitter-sweet endless beauty.
One of the greatest songs of all time.
8:09 Progressive equivalent of dubstep drop. Hell yeah!

No tengo palabras para describir esta obra de arte. Un viaje asombroso. Me encanta!
12:50 to the end of the track might be my favorite piece of instrumental prog ever. Besides possibly the vamp section in BTBAM’s Swim to the Moon.

It’s a bass solo. Do you hear the bass?
Hey fuck tard it is à drum solo over à bass ostinato
I feel alive every moment. I hear this
amazing tone
This is the kind of music that keeps me focused, gives me something to think about, while I
study boring monotonous text books.
Why the LTE 1 cover for this song? This is on LTE2. Killer song though.
+Sir Psychadelio i was thinking the same thing lol
I think some day I'll cover this song, there is a 100% accurate BT out there. Hope to learn it in less than 2 weeks... 17 minutes, damn! 😆 😆 😆
It's been two years, did you learn it or was it just big talk
my ALL TIME favorite piece of music..listen to it with HQ headphones!

Ok, Idk if a lot of drum line people are gonna read this comment, but wouldn't this song make a GREAT indoor Drumline show???!!!!!!!! :DDD
It's much harder than it looks, indeed. I can play a lot of Dream Theater stuff but this still gives me trouble at times.
Lol I had the LTE albums both on a pc for some year now and to this song I ve got via listening the Instrumedley from DT ... its a magnificent piece
Make sure to check out our full band attempt on this great piece @rockwall98

love the very end ragtime solo
