There is the dino leash for breeding while on wander, if you get out of render range. Might be a good idea to add that in, as well. Just a thought/memory. Good basic breeding video. Thank you.
I try to breed everything atleast so that have all best stats so if something dies you can easily replace it I think it's very useful to breed everything you have atleast a little
I think you forgot to mention that levels gained by training a dino are not passed onto the offspring. Only the stats the Dino has directly after training are important. That was my biggest confusion when I started playing and breeding and that is what I was doing wrong in the beginning. I always bred higher levels even though they came only from levelling and were worth nothing.
I would not have thought about that but you are right, when i first started I added the levels to my dinos before I bred them to pass on the levels. Great reminder, This is a great video though.
So... to simplify... basically look for the highest levelled creatures you can find in the wild, tame them, breed them and the rest will take care of itself?
@@Egobyte83 sort of... but you have to check what stats the dino has. lets say it has 10 wild levels to spend - they could be all in attack (which would be awesome) or they all could be in oxygen (which would be a waste). that means not all high level dinos are the same. and after breeding you have to check as well. each stat is randomly taken eitehr from father or mother. there is a slightly higher chance that the higher stat is given to the offspring, but it is still random. so you need a mod (i think, i am not playing anymore) to be able to see what stats were leveled and if they right one was passed to the offspring.
Most stat calculators i've seen only calculates stats for wild dinos. I was wondering if there was a way to see the stat distributions for a wild dino, that is, before i have tamed them. I'm on ps4 so I dont have access to things like Super Spyglass and dododex has been less than forthcoming. would appreciate some help. Thanks a lot
Only on Genesis with HLNA or using a magnifying glass. Other than that it was not intended. If you're in Singleplayer you can use the admin rifle to check the stats as well. ( Spyglasses on PC use that function )

Question. If I have a 225 male and female Rex and I breed them together for two perfect Dino’s a male and a female that have a level of 242. Do I need another perfect female from the original parents with a level 242 to mate with the offspring male with 242? Or can I use the female 242 offspring of the kids to mate with the first perfect male 242.
Soooooooooo like how do I get dinos with 0 stats points in everything but the ones I want? Feel like coulda threw that info in and left out the common knowledge about feeding
I have a question. I am planning on breeding with map native dinos. (Currently on the island) the lvls arnt spectacular but since high lvl same lvlsare rare I need to start with different lvl parents. Say 112, 80 and 92 for example. How do you then pin out with stats are.the good ones. Since the lvls are different its harder to breed a same lvl pair to set up for the mutations later. All videos I see are about same lvl dinos. Bit what if they have different base lvls?
@@ghighitv7009 I mean in the end you only need the female to mutate the males stat. So it doesn't really matter. Check my latest breeding guide. I explains it in there
Do you have to fully imprint on a baby Dino to see where the stat mutation landed on? Im on console so I have no ultimate spyglass to use or anything like that. I’m breeding Managarmrs, when the baby comes out saying it has a mutation, none of its stats are different from the parents. If it had a mutation, shouldn’t I notice a change in one of its stats?
In general you should not imprint your breeders at all. You can use arkutils.netlify.app/tools/incubator to try to get your statpoints. See if that works for you
If you have a PC at hand, the ARK Smart Breeder software is the best thing to get as a breeder. github.com/cadon/ARKStatsExtractor/releases/tag/v0.45.0
@@dark_monkey_1429 Just make folders in the dino's inventory and name them the same as the base stats or name the dino so you know it has the highest hp stat etc, you don't really need to know how many levels are in a stat as long as you have a note of which dinos have the highest base stats, only thing knowing the levels really helps with is knowing if it's an odd or even number for mutating up to 254 levels which you probably won't be doing without mods If you have a laptop you can still use the app but need to manually input everything so it's probably less hassle to name the dino or make folders anyway, on PC we can just export the dinos info and import straight into smart breeding
Is there a BASIC breeding video? This is just another video that says it's basic but is a level 100 player saying "mate your dino and then..." It doesn't show anything about mating?
Brad, I know it's tough but you will have to watch the video longer than 4 minutes to see everything that is in the video. You are complaining about missing content that is literally in the video.
@@TiiaAurora Thanks for responding. the video didn't cover the basics. What is the difference between fertilized and unfertilized eggs? Do you need a pen? How do you know what temperature the egg needs? How do you get that temperature? How long does it take? Why does my egg health keep going down and the incubation go up and down? It says to use air conditioners, but I'm a beginner, so I don't have them. How do I cool it? How do I warm it to a specific temp. Maybe some of these answers are given for advanced players new to breeding, but none of these basic questions are covered for beginners.
No need for mutations, when you can just make tamed dinos hit thousands and millions of damage on advanced options. And make wild dinos much much weaker, but this is for pve only.

When exactly does one start breeding? Right away or after levels are put into it?
The levels put into it wouldn't be inherited by the babies. So you can start right away.

It does not really matter. The game doesn't see a difference in where the dino comes from. Just what stats they have.
So the original tames I capture, am i suppsoed to level them to their max level before i breed them?
No the levels you give them won't affect the baby level

You don't need the same level of parents the females levels and stats don't matter at all

If you are on official, yes. If not, then you want all stats high because every additional level also adds points to torpor.
