The biggest crime committed was having a tow bar on a Cossie.

@@samwalters4205todays cars may be faster but they are completely numb to drive. All the safety equipment and driver aids. Even power steering was harder than it is now. Absolutely anyone can jump in a modern car and drive them quick. The old school may be slower but required a hell of alot more driver input and response. The old scorpio cosworth was an absolute boat, big comfy couches for seats, syrup suspension and elastic band brakes. Driving one fast was an experience haha

Thing is cars like that can comfortably speed along. Can't keep the speed limits forever, you know. Technology is only improving, cars are more powerful than they used to be, safer, stronger, faster braking times, sharper handling. Cars are only getting faster. We need to teach people who to handle it.

What were the old bill driving Lotus Carlton? The 90s, mmm, um. The Jag and I think 3.5 Rover were no longer in use. Volvo or Lotus Carlton, but when the siren went off... Can anyone help? BMW or the Omega?
My guess is an Omega but its a bloody good question. Sounds like a 2.0 engine to my ear, doesn’t sounds like a V6 however it accelerates from 70 better than I would have thought a 2.0 litre vauxhall could....
@@ElementsMMA I've had a look the Cosworth was in production in 1985 so I've limited it down to to 2 cars (not saying that video was 1985), but I reckon the BMW 520i or ... The Carlton, but the Carlton was Automatic, maybe I wrong or if it was further up north possibly a Jag. They were using old Volvo but maybe the beginning of the engine tuned Volvo but with the old siren on. That's not 2 is it.

@@ElementsMMA They were using the 520i BMWs in Scotland still in the 90s. Do you know I completely forgot to look in the corner. But the Scottish old bill were using the old 5 series. The Midlands were using Jags and Carlton's and the West Country were using Vauxhall Astras, 😂😂, and Range Rover and Volvo. Personally I prefer the old 3.5 Rover and Triumph TC 2L.

Although not all police are allowed to travel at such speeds. Most can only go 20 over the limit, on blues, at least that's how it was a few years ago. Perhaps someone with more knowledge will inform us of the current legalities.

So the Sierra driver (not driving erratically) was a terrible criminal while the police (driving even faster) were the "heroes" of the day? Yes, traffic police are highly trained drivers but let's face it, driving on a motorway is not rocket science & you don't have to be a police driver to be good at it. Anything the Sierra driver did wrong, the police driver did even worse.

The Cosworth "only" had 204bhp . Police at the time had Vauxhall Senator 3.0 V6 24V with 200bhp. The Sierra was an under powered car that,suffered greatly from Turbo lag. The Vauxhall had no such problems and was gifted with a higher top speed. 149mph Vauxhall. 144mph Ford.
