    Although some of the footage is blurred, overall it's still a good look at an exhibition with some high quality bonsai. Thanks for sharing the occasion with us, Nigel :)

    Why are people generally so private about yamadori collection locations? It’s not like there are magical yamadori forests where every tree there is perfect for bonsai...
    Unless there are?!

      Вход бесплатный для бонсай-шоу, но вам нужно заплатить за вход в ботанические сады, где проводится шоу. Это стоит 12 долларов канадской. Затем вы можете остановиться и осмотреть ботанические сады.

    I want to know how long it takes to have a bonsai with a thick solid trunk

    • @TheBonsaiZone
      @TheBonsaiZone  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It all depends on the height of the tree, if the tree is only couple of inches tall, it will only take a year or two. A large bonsai can take a lifetime or more!

    what are the grassy looking things in the pots of some of them?

    • @TheBonsaiZone
      @TheBonsaiZone  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The green patches are moss, it is used to represent grass and give the tree an established look. Some people place it on the trees just for the show, others leave it on all year round.

    aren't trees that are just chopped up kind of like cheater bonsai? I mean, I just think that cutting down a bush and calling it a bonsai shouldn't count. It lacks the signs of that meticulous care.
    1:15 and the guy right after.

      Reducing a tree in height and keeping them small is part of the process. The healing over of the scars is a sign of a mature bonsai. It takes many, many years just to get all the trunk and branch structure in place and them many more to develop the fine branching. Many of the trees keep improving with age and when you show the tree, is a matter of judgement. Club shows tend to have more trees on display that are still in development and wouldn't be suitable for a larger show. It is good to show your trees, because it takes practice to prepare a tree for a show and to put together a great display. I encourage people to display at least one of their trees in our club show, just to participate and be part of the show. It encourages the members to improve each year and makes the hobby fun!

      +Bernard Selvais Sorry, new camera and the auto focus takes a long time to kick in when the light is low. Next time the club has a show, I'll be sure to get better shots.
