More than likely, this was a department of energy efficiency requirement, because all of the new carriers either have this type of ducted fan or they are using some form of VFD drive so that they can make the numbers that the DOE wants to see. All the new Lennox equipment has a drive, along with the Yorks. More expensive motors mean a higher markup.
Every brand, has duplicated the "Weathermaker One" chassis. Daiken has one and the cabinet louvers are identical. I guess Carrier had to dumb down to ma)ch prices? I know when I was young, I thought Carrier was the "shizzle."......I'm embarrassed to wear the logo on my shirt lately, especially the residential stuff (ei: 59 series gas furnace)
Really? What’s your experience with them? So far haven’t had any issues with the dozens I’ve put in but who knows … that was only 2 years ago. Could become problems soon 😂
You can change it out in half the time if you use both hands. I won’t hire a service technician that only works with one hand while filming with the other. If you’re going to film, get a headband or a camera stand.
Dude set your drill to 1 so you don't over torque and snap the cheat ass aluminum frame, then use your nut driver to tighten down. Use the most important tool you have, your brain.
Number one reason to avoid a new Carrier package unit.
AMEN
Not all carriers have that blower motor
They'll all eventually be this way
@@mackenziegray2090 you are correct. The manufacturers save money and it just ends up costing us more when that junk fails.
@@ricardoa4322 yes they will be, no more shit VFD drives

ECM blower motors can be used too since ECM motors are basically AC synchronous motors with built-in VFDs.
@@davidperry4013 That's right. More cost to the customer when they fail prematurely, as they have a well known history of doing.
Fairly easy to change seems like
👍
What is up with that condensate trap?
no need to reinvent the wheel btw those fans remind me of those air cooled fans and housing on those old porsche engines

Gimme back my belt drive!!
Why? These things are easy to setup.
Why? they replace the crap VFD ADD drives they install in these units, and like other dude said way easier to set up and replace
THE most hated mortor ever

@@hvacmisadventures they’d just die for no reason. I believe you have to have correct static pressure with these.

@@OFFTEEZYjr because I stated a fact. If you want to pay more for a service so the technician can work with one hand; good for you.
Who said he was getting paid to do the job? He may be doing this for educational purposes.
@@greghuston3485 come on, we know he’s not doing this for free.
@@greghuston3485 dosnt the manufacturer of the equipment make educational videos? I know they at least once did when introdcing a new product
