I like how you said, "They're a little problematic, maybe not back then," because I feel like we lose sight of the social progress that's been made in the last 20 years, let alone the 40. I think the first Nightmare on Elm Street was ruined for me because I saw Dream Warriors first, so all of the tension from the original was kinda gone. That being said, I agree it's a stone-cold classic. They were clearly doing a lot of new stuff and put a ton of effort into it.
