    Thank you for being vulnerable and honest about your experience with failure. I graduated spring of 2023, and started testing this year. I passed PcM, failed PjM twice and now I just failed CE and I was absolutely devastated with each failure. (school was never hard for me so I'd never faced failure before). I realized that I've been comparing myself to the very small minority of people who blast through all 6 exams without failing and I had to learn the hard way that is not how I work and not the learning strategy that works for me. So thank you for sharing the rollercoaster of emotions that come with this process!

      Congratulations for getting through the pro practice tests! That just means you're a few steps closer. It's really not a fun process, but I promise it doesn't last forever. When you're in the middle of it, it feels like it's never going to end, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel if you stick with it. You got this!

      Hey Manoj, I’m so glad you found value in it! It’s so easy to feel like you’re alone in the process and that you’ll never get through it. You will, I promise! The key is to just stick with it, study hard, and don’t looks at any fails as actual failures. Each time I retook a test I knew the information even better and felt like it made me a better designer. It’s all worth it in the end.

      @@BYoungDesign Yes, It is very true from my experience as well. these days when I am reading something new i immediately think to myself whou!! this is a valuable information and I might have never crossed if I did not study for the exams. I do agree that urge to pass the ARE has increased my appetite for knowledge even more. But one problem that I have now (i.e. after preparing for PPD PDD for over a year) it feels like that I am running in circles and I often end up questioning myself strategy and approach towards the exam and trying to stay focused during this uncertain times adds up to the frustration.

They also just break down the info really well. There are a couple videos on TH-cam, but it’s definitely worth purchasing for a month. It’s pretty pricey, so I only had 1 month subscription, but i swear by it. They offer discounts with groups, so I was able to join a group through the NCARB Community. The real question that nobody talks about…. How many hours a day you dedicate to study… last 3 months i took my leed exams and well with 1-3 months of study 5-6hrs a day (I’m unemployed) and I’m willing to dedicate this same amount of time to study for the ARE but considering that eventually i will have to balance work and study. Will you mind sharing your study schedule 1-2hrs a day is enough???

    • @BYoungDesign
      @BYoungDesign  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Ana,
      I took my first exam when my daughter was 10 months and I was working. What worked best for me was to create a time block schedule so I would block out specific time for studying. Most weekdays it would only be for about an hour - some days I couldn’t even get to it. Blocking the time is critical when your schedule starts getting busy. Then about 2 weeks before the exam I would ramp up my studying. About a week before I would spend quite a while working through practice exams and reading my notes. But, that’s just 1-2 weeks of crunch time and the rest is a little bit each day. You don’t want to burn yourself out studying for hours every day for weeks. So pace yourself. You can see my actual time blocked calendar here: www.byoungdesign.com/post/how-to-become-a-licensed-architect-by-30. Looking back, that calendar looks wild I’m not sure how I did it, but it worked. Good luck!!

    1. How much average time it takes to prepare for ARE?

    • @BYoungDesign
      @BYoungDesign  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Shail, thanks for watching! The average time it takes to prepare for the ARE really depends on each person. I’d say about 4-6 weeks per test is a good amount, but it might be a little less or more depending on your level of knowledge of that specific exam.
      You can download my ARE resource guide to see what I recommend for each exam. www.byoungdesign.com/product-page/are-5-0-resource-guide
      Landscape architects don’t need the ARE, I believe there is a separate exam for them but I don’t know the specifics.

      Yes, you can definitely still take the exams! You’ll still need to complete the experience program (so this would be part of what you’re referring to as an intern) and the education requirements. Here’s some more info from NCARBs website: www.ncarb.org/get-licensed/foreign-applicants/educated
      You can work for an architecture firm as a designer and intern architect but you can’t refer to yourself as an architect until you have your license. Hope this helps!

    I encourage you all to watch the free webinars and podcasts at www.architectexamprep.com which will help adjust your mindset to overcome failure, read the questions correctly, and think like an architect.
