    "Amen Brother... Amen"
    EVERYTHING you said is true...
I have had a little restaurant... I have had a BBQ Stand where we could do 26 Briskets at a time... and ALL of it is Hard to do...
You have to PICK Your Niche (what do YOU want to do?)
NOW... I seriously want to go back into the Food Biz... but I will take EVERYTHING I have learned and
    K.I.S.S. Keep It Simple Sister...
It is NOT How Much Money You Make... It is How Much Money do You Have Left Over after you pay everyone else... Remember That!!!
    KNOW where EVERY Penny goes..
KNOW what Everything Cost... down to the Penny.
KNOW what Every Food Cost... every tiny OUNCE...
    Numbers do NOT Lie...
I lost almost $2000. one year over using expensive store bought BISCUITS.
(the biscuits were $0.15 extra cost, than homemade) did not factor that in.

Somde great advice. I have been involved in the hospitality business, catering can most often be more rewarding compared to brick and mortar restaurant business. All your points are well taken.

Great Information Arnie! It IS a lot of work. I had a Food Trailer and my biggest problem was always help. I never had enough help. People that no show or quit in the middle of everything because it's harder work and faster paced than they realized. Prep, rig up, cook, serve, rig down, clean, restock and go again. And yes, sometimes restocking means going to 3, 4 or maybe even 5 places to get everything you need.

Very informative!! Thank you for taking the time to lay it out like it is! Most people including myself know it would be a ton of work but never heard it from an experienced pro like you. Thanks for the blunt honesty, it’s givin me something to think about and maybe reconsider.

All of these points are legit. I managed a pizza place for years in New Jersey while coming up. The only thing I would add is the divorce rate is high in the food industry too; however, if you have hustle, a strong work ethic and if you’re good with people there is definitely good money out there.

Great points. However in all of the different counties in Texas that I have live it is mandatory you have a certified inspected kitchen to store products, cook and clean for selling food other than baked goods. The food manager’s certification is also a requirement other than food handler’s certification for all staff. It is fun but as he just repeated it is lot’s of work. Don’t get into the business if you just think it might be fun. I have seen way too many people lose tons of money and owe IRS and Texas State Comptroller back taxes. They won’t forgive you. If you don’t know food safety you just might get people sick or even unintentionally kill them. Do it safe and a legitimate business.

    • @ArnieTex
      @ArnieTex  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Good points Tom, only difference her in Hidalgo county unless something changed in the last couple years is that for "private" catering the HD does not monitor or inspect or require anything, only if you are selling "vending" to public like a pop up or food trailer and of course a restaurant. The wording was if it's private thats between you two.

@Denise, here are both , thanks OG, is Salt, Pepper and Garlic (SPG). This perfect blend of delicious natural flavors has created the most wonderful eating experiences for every civilization, country and cuisine. It’s the original all purpose seasoning. Shake this rub evenly over any meat and let set for at least 30 minutes. Grill or smoke for maximum flavor. The OG is also fantastic on vegetables, dips, salsas and over nearly every meal you create in your kitchen. Visit www.pitmaster.us or our social media "ArnieTex" for recipes and grilling techniques.
WOW! was designed for a maximum one-bite flavor experience to impress friends, family and cook-off judges alike. For the full WOW! experience shake liberally on steaks, chops and fajitas. Let the rub set for at least 30 minutes and then grill for maximum flavor. Lay it down heavy on the big smoked meats like brisket, pork butt, ribs and chicken to get some WOW! in every bite.
WOW is also fantastic on vegetables, dips, salsas and over nearly every meal you create in your kitchen. Visit www.pitmaster.us or our social media "ArnieTex" for recipes and grilling techniques.
