Tara Webster grew up on a farm in Australia. At the age of 15 she is accepted at the renowned National Academy of Dance, where her life changes. With her fellow students Kat, Ethan, Sammy, Abigail and Christian she doesn't only learn ballet, but also hip-hop dance and modern dance. Tara and her friends also have to realize that life as professional dancers is harder than they thought, because they always have to fight for their dream with commitment, discipline and ambition.

Dance Academy is mainly about the fifteen-year-old Tara Webster - a girl who grew up on a farm in outback Australia. Since she was a little girl she has dreamt of being a dancer and in the series she finally makes it into the National Academy of Dance. It’s known as the best school in the country and she is sure her life is about to be spectacular.
Throughout the series Tara and her friends face the universal challenges of being a teenager and they battle through the minefield of elite dance training. Relationships grow and change as they live side by side in the Boarding House. They each take a different path, but they start to find out who they are and they all dare to chase their dreams.

It's Abigail for me too. I can't say about techniques either but I'm always lost when she dances, staring at the performance and not paying attention to anything else. Although my favourite character is Kat Karamakov :)

Abigail's dance is really precise and Grace's looks so effortless
I think that they’re all amazing because they all have different strengths. Grace has a very dramatic stage presence she is also sharp and fierce. Tara dances in a very emotional way. Kat is really good at hip hop and is willing to give stuff a try. Abigail is a very technical dancer. She’s very clean and is a beautiful contemporary dancer.

Abigail is so strong when she dances, like earth, she could do anything, she is really a complete dancer, and people say that she's cold, but we can really feel a lot when she dances. Tara is so delicate, like water, every move is beautiful, like if she was of another world. Kat dances with passion and so much emotion like fire, she tells a story everytime, plus we can see she's an insecure person in the series, but it seems like she is who she is while dancing, a strong woman, the best version of herself. Grace dances perfectly, like is not hard for her, like she's flying and also is very intense. She's like air.
Anyway, all these girls are artists and we can see magic through their moves. No one is better or worse, they can't be compared.

I think this is such a good analogy because Tara just flows when she dances but she’s not “floaty” whereas Abby is very down to earth and extremely powerful and strong, Kat is very fiery and more about passion and the Grace is light and floaty when she dances, it’s just all so effortless ❤️

Is it just me or is Dance Academy addicting? I've watched all three seasons 3 times. I just finished my third time and I am literally crying because it's over. 😭 Dance academy is my favorite show ever. ❤️

Since there isn't any love for team Kat, I guess I have to speak up.
Kat had the natural talent, she had the fundamentals down, that's why she was ranked second in ballet is episode two. Yes, she did fall behind because she didn't know what dancing was to her but when she found her path in season three I feel like she was rapidly gaining on them and I would argue that she had the most potential for ballet in the whole group.
It was established that her mum is a "genetic freak" and also that some of those genes rubbed off on Kat because they are both double jointed. Kat also cruised through early on, not trying as hard as any of the others and she still held her own in season one, her attitude letting her down, but, with her attitude in the right space I feel like it was only a matter of time before she caught up, and then kept going leaving them all in her dust.
Kat may not have had a linear path like the others, but she was a tenacious force of will and, to me, she was the best. All the love for Alicia, for playing the character like a queen!
In my opinion grace is extremely talented, but she is not that into dancing as Tara and Abigail. Though Abigail is technically really good, Tara manages to show real emotions and tell a story. Kat just isn't meant to be a ballet dancer, but I admire her hip hop moves.
Generally I don't think one of them is meant to be 'the best'. They are all different and inspiring!♡

Abigail's jumps slay me everytime, so powerfully and beautifully executed. I love Tara's dancing but omg, I just love her duets with ben, such a wonderful combination
They’re all good in their own way, they are all absolute different: Tara dance with so much emotion, Abigail is focused the whole time, Kat can’t live without dance and thats makes her better because after the break she know what her dream is and she’s going to do all for it and about Grace we don‘t need to talk, she’s just amazing dancer

Abigail is more versatile then the others she’s amazing at both contemporary, ballet and hip hop too but sometimes she lacks emotion

there's only 3 seasons, I learn something new each time I watch it over again. If you really look more into her character you'll actually see that she has lots of emotions, but just covers them up and puts on this "I don't give a crap" attitude to stay focus. When it comes to dancing, it's something that she puts lots of feelings and emotions into vs. the social statistics , crushes etc. in ,which makes me love her character even more. She's her own leader, and her own voice. #TeamAbby4life
I think Tara is a bit overrated. She transmits a lot of emotions yes. But her technique isn’t the best. I think Abigail and Grace are way better Dancers, they just need to show a bit more of emotion☺️
Emotion is part of the dance though. If you have good technique and emotion that makes you a better dancer than someone with just good technique. It’s really hard to watch a dancer without emotion, its almost like they seem forced.
Tara can easily fix her technique like we've seen in the show. Learning how ro3 emote is alot harder
its just because they’re actors they have to do this for their roles... they all way better in real life dont forget this aspect

The person with good technique and emotion I was referring to was Tara, because her technique was good and she danced with emotions, her dancing was better than the other two because the other two didn’t really connect with what they were doing.

Abby is the most versatile dancer on this show. Her lines are beautiful, her extensions and control are precise and her emotion is overwhelming. It's perfect with the types of choreography she is given and her flexibility is insane compared to other dancers. Abby gives such a mature and powerful performance... she reminds me so much Kalani Hiliker when she dances. ^-^

Technically? Grace. But Tara does have the most emotion. So I guess it depends on the style and the coreo
1. Grace. She is a really incredible dancer, wild and fearless. She lives in her own world and does her own thing, no matter what the other people say.
2. Tara. She is so dreamy and warm-hearted. She dances out of passion, to make her dream come true and everybody can see that she feels what she dances.
3. Abby. She is technically precise and a first-class dancer, but she has to learn to express her feeling with dancing.
4. Kat. She has a great style, but she isn't innovative and doesn't her own thing.
For me it's Kat, not because of Technique. I know she is the weakest in that aspect, but I relate so much to her and her dancing❤️

Tara dances the best in my opinion because she's the perfect combination of dancing from the heart and great technique. Grace dances to upstage everyone, Kat seems indifferent towards it, and Abigail is so into it that she's constantly in competition, trying to be the best, but I don't think she truly enjoys it.
I think Grace looks the most graceful dancing but I personally love Abigails dancing. I think she’s incredible at contemporary dance. On the show they talk about how she is a “cold” dancer but I think she just portrays a different type of emotion when she dances. I think Abigail is able to chanel her stress, anger, and frustration into her dances in a really effective and beautiful way. She’s incredible.

Abigail's absolute devotion and focus makes her dancing absolutely fascinating to watch, but Grace's natural ability to just dance the way she does is so impressive.

As characters I think the best dancer is Tara but if we're talking about the actresses in my opinion Dena is the best
The statement that Abigail’s dancing is cold and doesn’t show emotion is only really true at the beginning of the show. She develops as a character and her dancing shows so much emotion and is inspiring to watch. There’s so much heart in it and it’s full of emotion, Abigail in my opinion is the best and is amazing to watch and is hands down the best, most complex and relatable character of the entire show.
Grace is impeccable technically.

Hard to say, their levels vary through the seasons, at the beginning, 1.Abigail 2.Tara 3.Kat - Grace not arrived yet. Middle 1.Grace 2. Abigail 3.Tara 4.Kat. End 1.Tara 2. Abigail 3.Kat 4. Grace - Grace while winning over Tara was just kind of lazy and Kat really stepped it up - aside from their levels, Abigail is my favorite character because of her determination and hard work. - I just found this channel, sorry for being so late to comment.

dancing is her life and everything to her I think she couldn’t live without it (and she does hip hop contemporary and ballet)
There's a scene of the 1st season where both Tara and Abigail are shown one next to the other during a class. You can clearly see the strength on Abigail's moves, while Tara's are weak but still smooth and somehow ethereal. Time passes and Tara gets the strength she lacked during her first year, but never manages to equal Abigail's technique, while she develops differently.
Both are so different still so amusing to watch separately: They can't be compared.
Grace's dance is just amazing, performed effortlessly and, well, graceful. She makes it seem like a piece of cake for beginners, and that plays to her favor. Just as the title of the chapter: Natural.
Kat is meant to be a commercial dancer, ballet is just not her thing.
Technique for sure Abigail, emotion it's a tie between her and Kat. The thing I really love about Kat is that she can do so many different styles

They are all great dancers, and I enjoy watching all the dances, but, for me, I find myself rewatching Tara’s performances. She has exquisite artistry and creates beautiful lines. Just gorgeous. I wish we could have seen Tara dance professionally as a soloist

i think tara has more of a ballet look about her and is more emotional about her dancing, i think kat is good but she’s not the best, abaigail has more of a gymnast look but she is really good also, and grace is also good but she just doesn’t look like she loves ballet as much as tara and abigail so for me abigail and tara are tied.
tara because she shows emotion in her dance and like the audition for clara in the nutcracker she actually looked at the nutcracker and showed she loved to dance. sorry abigail but unlike tara you didnt look at the nutcracker you stayed looking at the mirrior or the judges faces.
Tara’s dance as Persephone was her best technical one of the show imo, and best emotional one was the last Red Shoes for sure. I loved Abigail’s duet when she is being considered for a company tour after Sammy the most. Grace was wonderful as Juliet, just effortless. Kat’s interpretive dance of herself was gorgeous, but I loved the version where she was dancing as Nick before she knew him the most. Anyways, I can’t pick a winner, I just wanted to keep talking about how talented these dancers are!

I’d have to say Abigail because her technique and control are mesmerizing😍 but the next two tied in my top 3 are Grace and Tara because they all share near perfect technique but Tara can bring more emotion compared to the other.
Being a Dancer I can say that Grace's technique is the best of them all, but Tara's Dancing is the best for me because it has the most feelings, more than the others

It's definitely Abigail Tara needs to make up her mind about what she wants Grace needs to figure out who she is and Katrina he needs to figure out if she really wants it or not Abigail loves dancing more than anything and I just love the way she moves and dances she's definitely my most favorite dancer on Dance Academy.

Saying who is the best is impossible as far as just watching them Tara just delivers of all of in every dance she does. Abigail has that pain in her dancing that just makes you feel her story through her own dancing. Kat is so dedicated when she returns and she finally stops battling her own talent and accepts it. Grace just comes off as dancing is herself.
