- Anselm Kiefer discusses his exhibition at White Cube Bermondsey 'Superstrings, Runes, The Norns, Gordian Knot' (2019 - 2020), as well as his new ‘bunker’ paintings created during lockdown, and poetry, memory, cosmology, viruses and philosophy with Alexander Kluge.
Anselm was born in Donaueschingen, Germany in 1945 and has lived and worked in France since 1993. He has exhibited widely, including solo shows at Astrup Fearnley Museum, Oslo (2019); The State Hermitage Museum, Saint Petersburg (2017); Albertina Museum, Vienna (2016); Centre Pompidou, Paris (2015); and Royal Academy of Arts, London (2014). In 2007 Anselm became the first artist since Georges Braque 50-years earlier to be commissioned to install a permanent work at the Louvre, Paris.
Alexander is a German philosopher and filmmaker whose research and practice revolves around film, literature, social theory, film theory, and political action on cultural fronts. His body of work may be regarded as a continuation, in words and moving images, of the critical theory of the Frankfurt School.
