I sometimes wonder if you know what a FLANK is. This term is grossly misused generally by journalists since this war started. Flank originates from riding an animal such as a horse. If you were a cavalry man riding out, your horse might be hit in its flanks, meaning its sides by a spear, arrow etc. The use of this term METAPHORICALLY was applied over the years for the ends of a line in line warfare, or for the sides of an advancing salient (bulge) in more modern warfare. In Kursk there is a salient, it is difficult to discern which direction it is headed exactly, but it would seem to be facing north, in which case you would talk about its western and eastern flanks, and its northern front. Where there is fighting and there is no certainty about the overall orientation, it would probably be better to use the term 'front', northern front, eastern front etc. I think the one misuse of the word FLANK by western journalists which most irritates me, is the repeated and almost universal mention of "NATO's eastern flank". If the east is NATO's flank, then where is NATO expecting an attack from, the North Pole or the Mediterranean? The east is now and has always been NATO's front line. This mistaken use of the term is so universal in western media that it seems deliberate and propagandistic. It is really trying to say, NATO is no threat to Russia, Hey! We weren't even looking in your direction.

As offensives become more mobile there will be less information, delayed information, and false information. This is compounded when a front has been static.
This is due to several reasons, such as:
    - each side wanting more confirmation of the larger (than normal) changes; this is inertia.
    - the more fluid the front, the more the attacker will want to hide their true locations (this makes it harder for the defender to move reserves to the proper locations)
    - the more fluid the front, the more the defending side will want to hide lost positions, this is to help keep morale up. If local forces know that there are breakthroughs nearby, they are more likely to retreat. Even forces far away may start to believe that the war is lost, also retreating with less pressure (why die when the war is lost).
Remember when we saw successful attacks progressing across a road, or a couple of roads (ie. Bakmut)? With such small advances both sides knew where the front was. As advances increase to hundreds of meters to several kilometers the front becomes fuzzier, especially as the attack widens from dozens of meters to hundreds of meters to kilometers.
This has generally been true no matter which side was attacking.
The biggest exeption, in my opinion was Kursk, which was a brilliantly executed Russian trap. As Ukraine moved elite units, more supporting units and logistics to "defend" Sumy, Russia withdrew forces from the border, eventually moving them back dozens if kilometers. The more Ukraine saw the border weakening, the more they believed an attack was possible; so they moved more units and logistics to the area.
This greatly weakened other fronts, making it easier for Russia to advance, mainly in the south Doneskt front.
When Ukraine attacked, Russia not only withdrew, they did everything possible to encourage Ukraine to keep pushing forward. They didn't hide the huge losses of territory.
The more Ukraine advanced the more committed they became. Retreat would be a huge OR defeat. Once Russia baited Ukraine deep enough, in areas with poor logistics, they counter-attacked. This was Russia's plan all along.
Now that Russia is gaining ground, they aren't giving intel changes as fast or accurate.

so it's fair to say Ukraine doesn't have the combat strength to hold positions or counter attack positions in the main front line, only in Kursk they have some power to counter attack. That combat power in Kursk is only enough to be effective in a small area so it's basically useless along the Donbas front line, they will just take more attrition. Hence the offensive in to Kursk - a desperate attempt to make use of any combat power they had left at the time.

When I follow you -everyday I get an impression of following fact. That the last six months, is it no substantial reports of victories of Ukraine, and that the speed of the Russian offensive is going faster for every day. When you make your comments, I would like to have a summary and it would be wise to give it to sunday,. There you pin it down to lets say 9 cases of lagging for Ukraine and 2 denials of heavy losses for Russia. But make it to a structure. The truth is far from what both sides lies. BUT the structure of their lies will show us a pattern of their wishful thinking. One has not too judge it, just to cool show it. If it was possible, perhaps to cooperate from some other youtuber, to sum up this weeks lagging of the threuth for boths sides. And best would be two kind of square meters wonn. In cities, in williges, in open terrain, in fortified areas . Because they are not to compare. Then perhaps - blocked roads, each side. I have more ideas, and would perhaps be able to coordinate your information gathers, set tasks to them to get a whole perspektive of the war. Well I was neutral as swedish, but now I am in the camp of the west and democracy... no, not that naive, I am only sure of one thing. War is bad, and it to near where I live, so they should start the building up Ukraine as soon as possible, - but than it must be peace before, and before that ceasefire. www.altermann.se (my bad homepage).

Well, judging by everything, the strategically important city of Ugledar is about to fall into the hands of the Russian Armed Forces like a ripe apple - due to the lack of ammunition and the general organizational chaos, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are losing key points in this fortified area one after another.
In particular, an assault groups have entered the Ugledar dachas and are gaining a foothold in them. Moreover, according to Ukrainian sources, our advance groups have already been spotted in high-rise buildings.

The Ukrainian offensive was about territory, and in that context, it was an absolute disaster.
Russia's primary objective was never about territory. To judge them on that is fundamentally flawed. It's 1 of the reasons Nafo fools focus on it, mostly because they're unable to understand the Russian tactics and sometimes because they know it, but can't cope with reality

You look at land. Others look at the numbers. Mongols best theor enemies whilst retreating. All about beating the enemy. Cause more harm than getting hurt. Not about the yards. Free to take after the win, huh? Tacticak positions do matter. You can play agressieve chess against me. Ne ony half all the time. But on your way to a loss all game long. 🖖🏼👽Learn something everyday.

@@DontWorryBeHappy75 What is Russias offensive about if not capturing ground and therefore weakening the Ukraine? Just accept, that factually the Russians arent as strong as you might like, they wont be able to take Ukraine within the next few years realisticly. Nor is Ukraine strong enough in weapons and men to go on offensive in this moment. The war right now is kinda on stalemate, russia can only take some ground with heavy losses. Russia looses over a thousand of their countrys men each day which is very sad too. But its only Russia who could bring an end to their attack and stop the killing of their youth and the downfall of both Russian and Ukrainian economic power for decades..

@@tjallingdalheuvel126 Yeah, actually you could look at land as well as at numbers, in both the Russian offensive is minor to the Ukrainian. Its estimated that Russia has in average over a thousand dead or wounded soldiers a day while on offensive which is massive. The Soviet Union for example only lost 15000 soldiers in over 20 years of afghanistan war, thats what Russia is currently loosing each month.

The amount of land (still) isn't important. What's important is that Ukraine can no longer hold the line after two years of attrition. Also, that Ukraine has now lost its best fortifications, so it will be harder for them from now on.
