That was a beautiful lunch and a down to earth chairman. Even as a student he told his cousins not to spend too much.
Kwek Leng Beng looks very good for 82 years old
Indeed. If you asked me to guess his age just by looking at him, I would say easily 10 years younger.
In yesterdays ST interview, he mentioned KPI which he felt was too academic. Up till today i still do not understand the usefulness of KPI. Not many people embrace it passionately. More like "you want me to do it I do" type of KPI attitude. Finally got someone coming out to spurn the KPI that experts touted so much.
Absolutely truth that without passion you cannot achieved anything.
A humble man. I agree passion is key in anything you undertake. You need to be a people’s person in the hospitality industry.
Very inspirational video. Thanks for sharing :D
🙏 I am a customer to Hong Leong Bank because of their Professionalism & Understanding with their customers! If any advice , I would say , watch our mouths , it's more beneficial & more effective to give appropriate praises than scoldings to our colleagues so we can work together better as a team! Always give advice before they make the mistakes , as some mistakes are quite final & can be fatal! Hard ball trainings were of the 1930s to the 1990s ... Nowadays workers prefer the Softer but More Informed Approach in doing things as situations & conditions are so much more global , challenging & chaotic! 😮🙏 Thank You So Much NST for sharing! 🌷🌿🌍💜🕊🇸🇬🇲🇾
You know why Hong Leong is being banned to establish as proper commercial bank in Singapore? 😂😂😂
@@Scambuster491dont mind elaborate? Don’t worry, you won’t be POFMAed.😂
@@imycunt372 😂
Very accurately described, procedural and don’t think so much!

Good Leaders make Staff and their Team Feel Good about themselves and in particular their Work Environment in which they allocate a majority of hours in the day too.
Sumiko's expression say something about this man
什麼?
Just wow. Thank you Mr Kwek Leng Beng.
Action speaks louder than words!
One gets RESPECT, too
u all forgot he inherited the business aiyoh
Of course, its easier than starting from scratch but you think easy to then grow the business and keep it relevant in an ever competitive scene?
Respect and appreciate the sharing for learning and applying
In most corporate set up, most highly paid executives are not Entreprenuers and do not roll up their sleeves when things go wrong , they are good at mouth kungfu and yi yang fingers at surpreme level and he should knows…..he looking for a visionary guy with entrepreneur spirits but he must know those guys he have usually climb to that credentials by been “safe” and keeping their cv perfect
Inspiring.
Valueable lesson to learn from him.
No, if you read up on why some ppl get promoted over the rest, you will see people get promoted for communication.
Communication is the most important and valued skill in the workplace
Working hard talking less will not give you visibility to higher ups
Of course not ask you to just talk and do nothing. But you have to communicate to have a chance to move up the ladder
He as a boss can say "work hard talk less do more" but employees may not agree...both has different perspectives n goal...why should I sell my soul to the co. Employees are just a number to the co n if u fall seriously sick, they get rid of u. In this day n age, theres no more loyalty for both sides unlike the old era. I never like to work for a boss that is demanding n difficult.
Rich dad/poor dad man .. would he be this successful if he didnt have the rich background?? i think not
It can also be squandered with poor business acumen. Yes he had a head start, plus his dad was a good mentor, but he was also determined, a good learner and he grew the business. You can focus on the point that he had a rich background to begin with, but don't discount his personal achievements because with a good mentor and hunger to succeed, one can excel. We will never know if he would be this successful without a rich background so why speculate.
After his death his achievement will go to nothing. Only the son and the system he puts in survive him. It's good to have a system...it's the cornerstone to success
I have met people on the streets who are also wise.
The CEO & entreprenur are two different of people.
How about Quek Leng Chan 🧐🤔
Money is not everything you come with nothing and when you die you go with nothing best is to help the unfortunate poor donate money to help this people you will find happiness and peace in your life not just keep thinking of money and achievement 😅
His book is also not cheap. Another investment for his greedy and success
😂😂😂😂😂 get from library. Don't waste money
I hv the passion for money!!!
Talk to billionaire... different style... Money is always king
Look at this guy dishing out advice as though he didn't inherit his networth from his papa
Easy to inherit. Hard to manage. Give credit where credit is due
Goodness lol he looks like he's in his 60s haha. Wonder what's his health regime like
did sumiko san ask mr kwek how he business fail in china?? did he learnt any lesson in communist china?
In China, communist in name only. To be fair people in China have more freedom than Singapore.
@@38284LHKfreedom to be poor
KLB son Sherman lost a billion dollars buying mainland China property company, Sincere Land Development
So how did he lost a billion dollars on that project?
Secret?...what secret?
Unfortunately in todays zoom call and remote working a lot of bullshit gets attention. Talking seems to be the way of working with people who work hard and with results being overlooked by people who make lots of noise on calls. As an executive I always look out for the quiet ones who produce results. Weed out people who just talk and no action but this requires 360 feedback and bottoms up peer reviews.
😢
Now he is successful, should return to help his Malaysia. He becomes greedy with more investment in China. Normally
He is a businessman, not a politician.
Plently of bumi waiting for help😂
Arrogant, status conscious and too much Big I. He forgot he too will die. Not a single word on charity or forming a legacy foundation.
If he has one less kidney , one eye blind ,got postrate and got stroke ,will he still go after big money ? That will be a crazy old man.
What about 50% of your money go to donation to the poor every year and help the homeless and the poor , old uncle ?
How about loving and caring for unfortunate human beings ? Remember ,money and gold cannot be brought up to heaven. Good luck to you ah beng.
The poor will always be poor as they don't work for anything.
Sorry not to dampen the mood or being negative, being the most successful businessman is one thing, but ur Copthorne chain’s management is really shit. Top to bottom management doesnt feel like a successful company’s ways of doing things. This is one thing not many people know, its not just in Sg but globally
Let's be real. A century or two from now, if humankind and our concomitant civilisations are still around, would anyone remember Mr Kwek?
No.
Extremely few people in each generation have legacies that endure for more than a few generations. Only a Newton, an Einstein, a Gandhi, a Lee Kuan Yew, a Marie Curie, gets remembered because what they did changed humankind or human thought.
Would any of the technopreneurs be remembered for their contributions? Unless they are another Bell, or Edison. Maybe Gates or Jobs will, considering that the latter revolutionised Bell's original invention beyond any recognition. Still, I doubt. Maybe the inventor of the internet would. But hey, I don't even remember their name.
What about Mr Kwek? Compared to the luminaries whom I have cited, he is a nobody. He is just a businessperson accummulating one toy after another. His empire did not change humanity or benefit humanity at all.
My point?
Most of us will be forgotten beyond our grandchildren. And that is actually all right. It is OK. So for the sake of your sanity and your eudaimonia, your sense of human flourishing, chill. Plan and live with a passion, but don't do it at the expense of truly living in the moment.
Really. Existentially, what shall it profit a person if they may gain the whole world but lose their own soul?
good if they interviewed a bum that is happy.
Unimpressive interviewer
Yes superficial. She is in awe of him.
