Recent subscriber and a Newcastle local here. Got myself a magnet recently too and am giving it a go for my channel. I've been to the lake but not the harbour yet. Where did you find that blue sky though? It's been pouring rain and misery here in the Hunter for months.

what do you do with the crap you find for the scrap heap (like bikes or metal poles etc)? Do council come along and pick it up or do you just leave it beside the bins?

I'm in Fresno CA, USA, the city of my birth. I've lived in Fresno CA for 50 years now, but was living in Madera CA before that. Eventually, I'd like to move on, as it's getting harder to find a reasonably priced apartment here!

Wonder if tying a grappling hook to the other end of the magnet rope would make sense, so you can flip it around for stuff like trolleys.
A Novocastrian here. You should have done some magnet fishing behind the Queens Wharf brewery. The amount of people who have thrown chairs and jumped off the wharf there into the water on a Friday and Saturday night drunk, I am sure you have pulled up some wallets, phones etc.
Maybe you could bring a come along winch with you and tie it up to a pole for the heavier objects, 1,000 lbs worth of pull for $20-30 usd.
I thought surely you would pull a Bicycle out of the drink, but Australians don't throw away useful items like the people of Amsterdam.

One of our family fun centers is called "Scandia family fun center"they have a batting cage, miniature golfing,arcade games inside had a blast there as a kid✌️ Napa California
I was just thinking... I know nothing about this magnet fishing but wouldn't it be easier to make a knots , let's say every 1 meter on that rope for better grip to make it easier to pull it..? I don't know...🤔

suggest u find a waggon driver and learn some rope hitches shortening and tie down
a small s shaped metal hook. it will help getting back magnet when alone.
