Wonderful jacket. Totally agree with hand basting. I hand bast entire garments for fitting, takes no time at all, then you are free to sew up the garment without a big fitting surprise at the end.
Karina, I don't know how it is possible i like this jacket as much as the last one!!!!! Thank you for showing the way you sewed the zipper in, I know this will be helpful for people to know!! Take care and God Bless.
I know traditionally the zipper is separated to install but I find that keeping it together makes it always match at the top and bottom. This print is amazing and I’m so happy to have found it here. Thanks for watching ☺️
Fab video. Those adverts were annoying breaking in to such good teaching. You are very talented Karina. It’s a great idea to use jersey to make it seem a less daunting sew. I love exposed zips so it’s time I tried a moto jacket. I’ll now head over to Kim’s channel
Exposed zippers always look amazing but even more so when they are asymmetrical like in Moto jackets. About monetizing the channel: it’s how I make my living and what keeps all the content free to view on this platform. I couldn’t continue the channel without them.
Gorgeous Karina. I've been looking all over for a simple Moto Jacket - I want to do a pink faux suede one. This looks exactly what I need. Love your instructions also. Thank you so much.
This is beautiful! I think I could make this pattern! I like to interface the top layer, too, as the edges show otherwise, and...not a look I want! Thanks for this lovely and clear presentation!
For sure you can make it :) I always interface the upper collar and I don’t know why this pattern instructed the opposite 🤷🏻♀️, it’s just not a good look. Thanks for watching 😊.
I see the shorter length suit a lot of people and I’ve tried it. Now I know the length I prefer and would rather just adapt the length beforehand :) Thank you so much for watching.
I looooove this jacket Karina! Remember I said I may need to postpone my chip? Well now I really want to squeeze it into this month! The construction is simpler than I thought and I can use this video as a sew along. :-) I am definitely heading over to Kim's video as well.. her fabric looks amazing! Also I am a hand baster as well... I've learnt the hard way when I try to skip that step!
Ha ha same here. I don’t baste: error.... unpick/seamrip and then it takes longer than if I had hand basted 😄. I’m glad you liked the video. Thank you so much 😊
I love that with your makes it turns into something that far exceeds the samples given by the company and this jacket was no different. Love the fabric used too!
The samples are 🤦🏻♀️ sometimes and I try to ignore that and focus on the potential the pattern could have with my own fabrics. It’s a fun process. Thanks for watching 😄
Wow! What a great jacket. I’m always so amazed by your techniques. I think it would be far too big for you in the recommended size. I’m slowly learning from you how to get a good fit! Thanks so much for doing such great quality work!! Very inspiring! X 🌺
Karina, I absolutely love this jacket with the mix of the butterfly print and faux leather knit fabric! Excellent tips in Up Close and Sew Personal, too. I'm firmly in the hand basting/hand hemming camp-worth the effort. Also prefer to sew zippers in closed so your demonstration for this jacket was very helpful! Thank you for another great video!😊 Looking forward to watching Kim's video and hearing her tips for sewing with faux leather.
I used to sew zippers separated in the past but then it clicked it doesn’t have to be separated and since then the top and bottoms always match up. Win :) Thank you so much 😊. I loved sewing this.
I looked passed the product photos and focused on the line art and the potential to get excited about this one. It’s such a simple sew compared to other Moto jackets.
I've never made a modo jacket but I'm definitely saving your video for when I do! You always include such helpful tutorials Karina and your finished jacket is beautiful - inspirational!
Hi Karina, Lovely!!! I have a question if you don't mind. Did you have to do something to protect the Jersey Leather fabric when it came to interfacing it? I've never seen fabric like that myself but I would think heat like with faux leather, vinyl etc. don't like each other. Thanks is advance for reviewing the question. Beautiful Make!!!!
The leather look jersey is actually normal jersey and it’s the same fabric as the burgundy game day t shirt with ties I made a while back. The shiny side is there making it look like leather but it’s normal fabric that doesn’t need anything special.
what a beautiful jacket, I love the butterfly print. Your tips for making this jacket are amazing, I have saved the vlog to my computer as I have this pattern and I have some pleather, Im hoping it will turn out as well as yours. xxx
Love your jacket, beautiful work and suits you so well. You've convinced me to go and spend one of my Seamwork tokens on this one! I'd dismissed this pattern as a possible one to buy when I first saw it come out but yours is so lovely.
Thanks 🙏🏼. I try to envision the potential of a pattern in my head with my fabric and construction methods in mind to decide on sewing them. Sometimes the samples don’t really appeal to me too. Thank you so much for watching.
This is a beautiful jacket on you Karina! Your sew along style was great and I found the tips you included to be very helpful. I'm thinking of making this jacket as part of the #sewupcycle22 challenge! Will see if I can do it lol xx
With your hands you have real control of the fabric and how it goes together. Machine basting for me is the same as sewing the real seam, as control goes. I just don’t do it at all. Ever.
I’m glad you liked the jacket. Unfortunately, without monetization on the videos, there is no way I would be able to keep my channel functioning. I will start adding the videos via another unlisted link to the patreon page so that patrons can view them interruptions free there 😄
Wonderful jacket. Totally agree with hand basting. I hand bast entire garments for fitting, takes no time at all, then you are free to sew up the garment without a big fitting surprise at the end.
Totally agree. It’s the best. It’s sort of a lost art now, sadly.
Yes tried hand basting today ; your right - easier and satisfying
Sewing without the pins there is the best :)
Karina, I don't know how it is possible i like this jacket as much as the last one!!!!! Thank you for showing the way you sewed the zipper in, I know this will be helpful for people to know!! Take care and God Bless.

Beautiful jacket and the instructions were fabulous.
Thank you so much 😊
Great sew along as usual. You are inspiring me to try a jacket.
I’m glad you liked it. Jackets are so fun and satisfying.

Amazing jacket Karina!!!
Thank you so much 😊
Beautiful jacket! I have learned the importance of basting from you.
I know it’s not for everyone but while I can still do it, it’s worth it every single time. Thank you so much for watching.
Love it Karina, especially with the black lace skirt.
Thank you so much 😊
Beautifully made! Interesting tips, too. Thanks
Thank you so much 😊
You are an Amazing seamstress and teacher
Thank you so much 😊
Exactly the one I was waiting for ! Thank you one more time Karina 👍
I think this is a pattern that’s striking and also easy to sew. Thank you so much 😊 for watching.
I have been eyeing this pattern and you have convinced me that I can do it! Your make is gorgeous!
Gorgeous Karina. I've been looking all over for a simple Moto Jacket - I want to do a pink faux suede one. This looks exactly what I need. Love your instructions also. Thank you so much.
I’m glad you like it. It was a fun satisfying project. Pink suede sounds lovely! Make sure there’s a little stretch on the fabric 😄

Hi Karina, I really like the jacket. You are right, the two inches made the right length. Thank you for the great review! See you over on Patreon.
I see the shorter length suit a lot of people and I’ve tried it. Now I know the length I prefer and would rather just adapt the length beforehand :)
Thank you so much for watching.
Very nice. I’ve never tried a jacket like that. I might try that one.
I think this is a great one to start with. More simple that the others for sure :)

I usually make one size less for Seamwork and that seems to be consistent so far. This was a fun Jacket to sew :)
Super cute, I like the cuffs, they tie the collar in nicely.
Thanks! That’s why I went for it and now I have enough left over for the skirt. Win-win 😄
I have watched both videos and it renews my beliefs in why we sew. You cannot get this in retail.
Yes! Totally. What we make is so unique. It’s what I love the most about sewing.
Love it. You made this project look easy. Thanks for sharing
Thanks. This was a fun make 😄

Fantastic job. I love it!
Thank you so much 😊
Great tutorial, Karina.
You’re very welcome :)
Love to watch your projects and I do hand sew hems. Cleaner look to me.
Heavier weight knits really do benefit from a hand hem aesthetically. I’m glad you like them too :)
Your way is so nice me being old you have taught alot
Thank you so much 😊. You are too kind.
I hadn’t considered this jacket, but now I have seen both your and Kim’s vlogs, I am very tempted! Great review, thank you ❤️❤️❤️

Thank you so much 😊. I think this is a great one to start with before the woven ones. I really enjoyed this one.
Looks great. I really like the cuffs and collar contrast.
It’s a happy little fabric saving strategy. Thanks for watching 😊.

Great review and tutorial, thank you x
I’m glad you liked it :)

Pleather! How amazing. All the best on your jacket.

Stunning! I'm making it this weekend. Yay! How do you prevent the zipper from sliding of when you remove the zipper teeth?
I push it down about 2” and keep it there. It has slid out in the past and it’s very annoying to put it back! But it’s possible :)
This is a beautiful jacket on you Karina! Your sew along style was great and I found the tips you included to be very helpful. I'm thinking of making this jacket as part of the #sewupcycle22 challenge! Will see if I can do it lol xx
Thank you for this video. It's on my short list of things to make. I noticed you hand baste a lot. What is the benefit over machine basting?
With your hands you have real control of the fabric and how it goes together. Machine basting for me is the same as sewing the real seam, as control goes. I just don’t do it at all. Ever.
💟💟💟
👏💕😎
What needle do you use for hand basting?
Depends on the fabric. If it’s thin and woven a smaller one. For this ponte I used a thicker one. I apologize I don’t have numbers for them.
Great instructions, really like the finished jacket. Just so annoying having the interruptions with 5 adverts !!
