Hope to see ya riding out there, buddy! I totally understand never having the time to do the thing that made you wanna open the shop in the first place. I miss getting to ride my bike.
This saddens me to no end. Having gone through this myself with my parents' bike shop, I have now built a business model that allows me to spend time with the family and cuts a lot of the stress out of it. Feel free to reach out when you are ready, and I can share how you can build a shop out of your garage or something a lot smaller and more manageable. Keep all your shop tools!
Thank you! Theres a lot of weirdness and bad practices in the bike industry. Best thing we can do is bring them to light. Your channel is one of the few willing to explore those topics and it’s so helpful to “right” the cycling industry. It’s amazing the amount of times city officials and brands like Trek tried to tell me what I could say or post and took action against me because I spoke out. I’m hoping to start a garage shop and consulting biz after things cool down and I regroup. This whole cycling thing is too deep of a love affair to be able to give up on it entirely lol. Will definitely reach out when I dive back in. Thanks again for all you do!
I'm going through a similar challenge with my shop. I am inspired by how well you handle these tough times with our suppliers and numerous other issues. You have handled these industry challenges so well, I wish I could say the same. Much respect bro, you are an inspiration. South Coast Bicycles
Sorry to hear your closing the shop but wish you and your family the best! Thank you so much for helping my family start in the sport and answering my 10,000 questions!
I'm beyond upset and for a change at a loss for words, to express how much The Shed has meant to me. Im so happy for you getting the well-deserved time off, although bitter because of how you were treated. I can't even make words work
Ya, it been quite the eye opening experience past few years to say the least but all worthwhile bc of you guys. Wouldn’t take a second back. Be looking for me creeping in DMs asking “where’d you ride today” haha. Love being a part of peoples journey. Excited to actually see it out on the trail now!
Shame the mountian biking community is taking such a hit. Really enjoyed coming in over the years as everyone was always helpful, friendly, and provided spectacular service. Hope all goes well for you in the future.
It’s been a tough go past few years for MTB companies in particular. Most of our manufacturers are super small so I hope to see them pull through. Thanks for the kind words!
Will miss you guys too. I’ll still be around to help keep MTB fun and grow the sport. Looking forward to being able to offer new things to our riding community.
I live down in Springfield. I’m worried about my local shops down here too. When the manufacturers turned on the small dealers and started selling direct it’s hard to see how they’ll make it. Sorry to see you closing, the bike companies made the wrong decisions. Someone has to service the bikes after the sale….
Long established shops or those with an amazing bike park have a good chance of withstanding the storm for a bit. Trails are going like crazy in your area so that will help keep them rolling as well!
The shop's presence will be missed, especially with the vast improvements we are soon to see with the Eureka MTB Park just around the corner. Except for our Eebs, we've purchased all our new mtbs through the shed as well as many helmets, pads, gloves, spares, tools, fluids and a new Rockshox Pike...even though the shop is a 50 minute drive from home and there are many closer shops. I'm really going to miss having a shop that is so MTB centric. That the Take A Hike shop closed was easy to understand (rarely open during their own given business hours among other big issues), but this is a little bit more of a shock.
Bike retail is such a mess. Customers like you are the reason I’ve put this off as long as I have so far and I enjoyed every minute with you guys getting to be part of your journeys in MTB. I plan to continue that just in an altered role. Fun times ahead!!!
Everyone needs a break. Running a shop alone if busy seems impossible, you had employees I think. I guess you could have time off lenyothers do the work. But sometimes it's the time to call it quits. I wish you luck on future endevours. There is just so many bikes you can sell, but repairs custummers that don't do it themselves an more advanced stuff, there is always a market for that. But I guess it's hard to run a shop if it's only one or two people.
Thank you. Yes, it’s a lot alone especially in a day with added role of social media manager lol. Even I. The thick of the pandemic with more employees, I yearned for slower days. The fun of the shop is getting to talk to customers everyday but that gets in the way of the boring business stuff lol. I’m looking forward to keeping the fun part without the extra stress of a retail location. More coming soon!

It’s been such a cool adventure. Def never took a second for granted but boy am I ready to get riding again!

😂 not lost on me how lucky I was to show up to work everyday and just talk bikes. So much fun. Thanks for being a part of the journey!

Many blessings on our journey bro! -Scott B.
Thanks Scott! I’ll see you out there.
I’ve got no words my friend. Man, I hate this. However, I totally get it. Hope we don’t lose touch!!!
I’m not going anywhere, I mean I am going but not going away 😂 I’m excited to move our conversations back into the woods!!!
Thank you & we'll miss the shed
