As much as I hate what hot rod's role in Optimus's death in his battle with Megatron Rodimus actually defeated Galvatron and lead Cybertron and kept the decepticons (who have lower manpower) at bay plus Optimus would have died even if hot rod didn't interfere the marvel comics version is proof of that Hot rod did what no Autobot tried to do help their leader and indirectly caused his death he was guilty at first but knew his men needed him to lead Rodimus grew from a reckless kid to a leader he's also the only Autobots I know in G1 that has character development he may not be as good Optimus, a godmaster like Ginrai, a master swordsman like Star Saber, A combiner Slayer like Dai Atlas, but he's got the touch and he has the power to kick Galvatron and Unicron's asses and lead the Autobots to victory
I realized I actually have the g1 autobot clones, fastlane and cloudraker, I've had them since I was a kid(I'm 13) and did not now they were g1 until finding them on tfwiki, and I like that my first g1 figures were obscure

Great review on the Botconn 2017 set! Lol! I'm amazed that Rodimus' head is actually two different colors like the original, and I agree with you about all the figs except Nautica. It's Blurr in lilac. A figure that would have made an awesome Nautica, with a touch of retooling, would have been Transformers Animated Arcee. Oh well. I'm working on a custom for that...
I personally agree that Nautica should've gotten a completely new mold. That is clearly Blurr, and having a female headmaster for this line would be interesting... ...aren't we getting a Titan Master Windblade in this line?
I only have Quickswitch from ebay, and the joints are all really good. He can do one legged kick poses while holding two weapons, and balances really well. Maybe you got a dud or just bad for QC for box sets yet again. his head angle is a bit odd, but you can play with it, tilt up the top half a little lets his eyes be seen normally, but a fine line between slight lift up and lifting too far leaving a gap. I LOVE the figure, if not fan of G1 toys, and particularly gaudy color schemes, and stuff like G2 colors, I can see why this toy would turn some off, but I like it sooooo much. With two down, here's hoping any of the other two six changers get made eventually.
It was never intended to be botcon because all the names were trademarked last year and were getting three more boxsets. These are for titans return as the G2 gestalt sets and Victorion and Liokaizer were for combiner wars
Nautica is probably going to be the main reason that this set will sell because of people who are trying to build the Lost Light gang. It's why *i'm* gonna try to pick up this set, if the price is forgiving. I.E: Under £95. Leader - £40 Voyager - £20 Deluxe - £10 Scout - £7 Legends - £5 = £82
If you want TF Quickswitch look bit different and kinda G1 looking from TR Sixshot; leave chest wing in, wolf mode toes in (like you did) and rotate the wheels at the shoulders face forwards as Sixshot had those outwards.
I got the original generation 2 laser prime with all his accessories for $2 at a garage sale but his push Canon for the trailer doesn't shoot his missles anymore but it's still an awesome toy
I cannot tell you how much I want this. 2 months until my 16th birthday, and this is gonna be the main thing I ask for. Doubt I'm going to get it, especially since it's only on eBay. But I'm hopeful. I love Quickswitch, he's one of my favorite characters, and I've wanted a Nautica figure for a while. She's awesome. Legends figures are almost always nice, so Fastlane is a pretty cool inclusion too. Laser Prime is also cool, especially since I don't have an Optimus figure. And Rodimus looks pretty good on Deluxe Hot Rod, who I own. Aw man do I love this set of figures.
Considering how Quickswitch's alt modes are as arbitrary as Sixshot's, I don't mind that they're repaints of each other. My guess is the other "half" of the clone duos will be released solo. BTW, is it just me, or do you somehow happen to get every copy with bad QC?
I hoped quickswitch would of at LEAST gotten a new helmet like his cg render and a retool in the beast head department, the modes themselves can be substituted via imagination. And yeah just noticed that about the qc luck he has, apart from sixshot I never had what he's had to endure

I think that the split crouch of fastclash/fastlane is for future remolding for cloudraker because I saw a video review of g1 cloudraker the legs splits for the transformation for jet mode😄
Titans Return Sixshot has the exact same problem, and it's that the top of the helmet comes down too far. Lift the top a bit so that it's even with the 'head band' and you can see his eyes just fine, except that now you have a different problem in that there's a small gap between the top of the helmet and the rest of it. Not _that_ big of a deal, and it certainly didn't stop me from grabbing the last Sixshot that my local Wally World had, but it's still a tad annoying.
If the had replaced Nautica with Override I would consider getting this. Serious missed opportunity it's a velocitron set and the planet's best racer has a perfect mold ready to go.
Quickswitch looks like a McDonald's playground. This set is an easy pass for me, I love G1, but there's a point where the super-obscure G1 characters don't do it for me (and that's titans return in a nutshell). I'd LOVE to have that Rodimus Prime head, but like you said, holding out hoped for a Voyager Rodimus Prime with the trailer.

Looks like Toys R Us UK did in fact get some shipments but they never made it out of a warehouse that HB ended up picking up in liquidation? So pleased to finally pick up a set that unless you imported from the US back in the day, until this week was going for hundreds on Ebay purely because of its rarity. Super satisfied with it.
Also Quickswitch looks like way more of a contrast and original figure next to my Sixshot, but that's 'cause my girlfriend got me MMC Terminus Hexatron for my birthday a few years back. I can see how it'd be a disappointment if I had the identical figure.

What IS missing is the blue fist (now black) and...would it of hurt hasbro to PAINT THE RIMS!? Overall they tried but not quite hard enough especially with the ABUSE of stickers, ok they homage the g2 toy better...personally I see stickers WORSE than chrome in terms of care and longevity. As for the set I'm waiting for a sale, if I can get a cw box set for the price of 2 voyagers then I can wait on this too, I...do actually like the laser prime despite the flaws but trying to hold off on ripping into ebay lone auctions. Not that I should even bother since I have the legends scourge deluxe, should track down the takara laser optimus and use that instead.

I disagree about the missing paint on laser prime. If you compare the robot mode to the original toy, the paint job is spot on, except for the hands being black instead of blue. Apart from the blue grill, the entire torso is gray, the shoulder pylons are also completely gray. The only black part in the shoulders in the original is the tires of the front wheels. The only version with more paint is the takara re-issue, probably not hasbro's source material for this figure. My point being: the paintjob is not lacking anything.
I think the leg gimmick on fastclash may be pretooling for the other clone. iirc the original jet clone guy's legs do the splits like that for transformation.
if optimus's jet modes were to be graded, they'd always get the "A for participation" award

I would've loved is Hasbro had at least remolded the nosecone and given Nautica the hand covers from Brainstorm and MAYBE a slightly longer canopy
or just reuse the Brainstorm wings and prevent those embarassing clip-on parts

The hotrod head compared with rodimus head, makes the hotrod head look like more like a ironhide head.
Really want this for fastlane nautica and quickswitch just wish people would stop being so negative about it just be glad they got updated toys

2:25 were getting one for POTP. I would get rodimus, but optimal optimus and optimus prime (i only get 2 leaders each line) look amazing.

If you left the cockpit flipped and you attached the legs together, you will get a "drill legs" mode

I disagree about the missing paint on laser prime. If you compare the robot mode to the original toy, the paint job is spot on, except for the hands being black instead of blue. Apart from the blue grill, the entire torso is gray, the shoulder pylons are also completely gray. The only black part in the shoulders in the original is the tires of the front wheels.
The only version with more paint is the takara re-issue, probably not hasbro's source material for this figure.
My point being: the paintjob is not lacking anything.
Dang! I didn't know that! But it makes sense for them. Because they seem to try and make their figures more or less accurate to the original toys.

Optimus's colours is terrible, Rodimus looks good, Nautica is well done, Quickswitch is very weird and Fastclach alt-mode looks like lying robot.
I think the leg gimmick on fastclash may be pretooling for the other clone. iirc the original jet clone guy's legs do the splits like that for transformation.
